Gotta go with my rule, rear-engined RWD is automatically Cool, unless it's a Smart or one of the current PDK-only Porsches.

Too slow to live up to its name. RR layout saves it from Seriously Uncool, though.

Tyre width has zero positive correlation with how well a car "handles".

Not that the Rapid was a great handler, but you can't just look at the tyres and determine how it handles based on that alone. Not unless an old Lotus Elan on 155s is also rubbish. Or a 1960s Mini on 145 section tyres...

I'd also be tempted to point out that you personally not liking inline fours, nor the fact that 61bhp isn't a lot of power (though it's pretty much par for the course from a 1980s 1.3) have much to do with whether the car is cool or not. But similar things have been said in similar threads for years now and few have grasped it to this point, so it's probably not worth mentioning.

Ok. It's not just the tyres I was looking at. This thing just screams handling mistake. Guess my "first look" wasn't to far off.

I'd also like to point out that the car having an inline 4 and low horsepower makes it uncool for me. If you wanted me to vote your way, you should have PMed me first. How else was I supposed to know that this was the "Vote for the Skoda amongst popular belief or Homeforsummer's decision."

Thank you. Now drive through.

And yes, I PM every GTP member during a cool wall vote just to make sure everyone votes the way I want. I find it much easier and more expedient than occasionally commenting on someone's post when I think they've said something daft.

For the record, I voted this one Seriously Uncool - lower than you've voted, you'll find. Yet somehow I've done so without arbitrarily marking a car down for engine size or power output.

Even more strangely, I've voted cars cool that are both more powerful and have many more cylinders, and ones that are a great deal less powerful and have fewer cylinders. Ker-azy.

I've voted cars cool with less hp. In this model, this year, more needs to be there. I vote on a car as it's own machine. Not based on my own stereotypes. Yes, I like power. But 300hp just wouldn't work in a MG Sprite.

Also, my statements. Daft? Please provide your source that my opinions of what cool and are not aren't reasonable. At least to me.

Daft? All you did was come out of the wood work to tell me my personal opinion was against the grain, and there for invalid. The only thing you proved is your own arrogance.

So, again. Your opinion on my opinion has just as weight in my mind as mine does in yours.

I really hate posting in these cool walls anymore. Everybody forgets that this an PERSONAL OPINION poll and discussion. The last time I checked, a poll and a discussion mean that several different views will be discussed. But time after time, members get their opinions bashed my members who think their knowledge of cars, or whatever, trumps other people's views. Just sickening when you think about it. Sickening and sad.

How is actually is. See the McLaren F1 poll.

Then stick to PERSONAL OPINION. When you start trying to wave facts about to justify it and get the facts wrong, it opens you up to criticism. This isn't a statement of PERSONAL OPINION:
The tyres so how great the handling was, wafer thing.
It's a statement of fact - and the statement of a fact that is wrong.

Touché. I don't agree with your stance. From my viewpoint, that was a statement of sarcasm and homour. But I understand how it could taken as a fact statement. So, I agree to disagree and drop the subject for the betterment of the thread.

Of course it wouldn't. It needs to exist before it can take any power at all.

Austin Healey. In my frustration, I let my thoughts get away from me. However, I believe that you get my point.

Congrats. I was trying to make a point. It was muted. I guess arrogance wins the day. Again.

And it's funny how irate people get when those views are... discussed, innit?

At which point in all this discussion have you missed the concept that me thinking people voting a car cool or uncool based on engine size or power is daft isn't my own personal opinion?

That's not arrogance on my part. It's definitely double-standards on yours though. For the record, I enjoy these threads whether people disagree with me or not. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Strangely though, only a select few members get annoyed about it. Most just let it wash off their backs. Because, y'know, it's a discussion.

Internet, srs bsns.

This doesn't sound like a discussion to me. More like that you're telling me how to vote.

You, and other members, may disagree with my view on the above statement. But I wholeheartedly see that as you questioning me even having a opinion that you can't wrap your head around. But, I fear this discussion will lead to nothing. So I'd just like to drop it for no other reason to just stop discussing it. But, I know that will never happen, because you are going to have to prove me wrong and you right with nothing more then the power of your will. Have fun with that.

Point me to where people are calling others morons simply for having differing opinions.

I'll wait.

Now, if you want to conflate how you handle opposing views with critical discussion, that's up to you. But the persecution complex won't do you well out in the real world.

It may never have been said outright but it's pretty apparent that there are members who think they are vastly superior to others.

Not in the least - but I am saying I don't agree with your methods for voting. I believe that can be considered under the umbrella of "discussion".

I'm not sure why you interpreted it otherwise unless you're feeling particularly confrontational today.

Again - I voted this car in largely the same category as you (uncool - more so). And I've neither taken issue with those who voted it cool, nor others who voted it uncool.

I reserve the right to consider engine size a daft metric by which to decide things are cool or uncool. If you have an issue with that, then I'm afraid there's very little you can do about it - though for your own sanity, I'd not let the blood pressure rise too much when someone disagrees with you about it.

Again, if you want to assign that position to people, that's your own doing, not theirs (unless of course, they come right out and say it). That you only seem to think this about those who don't share your own opinions is telling, though.

I'm simply observing this; there are people who don't agree with me but that doesn't make them morons.

I think we can come to a logical safe ground here, so let us try. If I/we fail, at least I can say I tried.

You don't have to agree with my methods of voting. I don't agree with yours, from the sounds of it. That's prefectly fine. I have zero issues with that. But that didn't seem to be the way you presented it. For me, it was presented that I was daft for voting in my manner. That I need to strip down every aspect of the car before I come to a conclusion. I don't do that, you're right. But I'm not voting on a car based on how good it may be or not. I'm voting based on it I think it's cool or not. Isn't that the overall point of this threads? People may choose to vote on coolness based on how well it goes around a corner. I vote based on my thoughts how it look going down a busy street. It's all subjective. Plain and simple.

I'm not sure why you interpreted it otherwise unless you're feeling particularly confrontational today.

I may every well be. I won't argue with that. I don't think I could if I wanted to, honestly.

I've neither taken issue with those who voted it cool, nor others who voted it uncool.

Nor have I. At the end of the day, I really couldn't care if this car ends up in the icebox or the River Styx.

I never had an issue with you using engine size as a voting metric. You were the one questioning me for using a little engine as a metric. I again, l repeat, couldn't give a rat's ass how and why you voted the way you did. It's not till you questioned my reasoning that I fought back. Mind you, I never quoted or replied to you initially. You did. Please don't sit and question my intentions on half truths you choose to see. Maybe you should PM more of my friends questioning my sanity and theirs.

Again. You questioned my vote in public. I responded. Then you failed to see my point. Then, from my view point, you argued with me about what I was arguing with you about. From what I can gather, we're both arguing about the right to vote in any way one person deems fit.

At the end of the day. A discussion broke out over a fight. I'm glad that it happened that way, instead of the other way around. I really believe we're arguing two sides of the same coin.

Admittedly I know nothing about the car, but if I happened to see one on the street I would think it's interesting...however I wouldn't think it was cool.

Meh, I have nothing much to say about it. It's a car that I don't really care about, but I can't find anything that would be cool about it nor the opposite.

An attractive 2-door coupe made in the socialist bloc. Deserves being included in the "East Cars" mod for rFactor. Cool.
