A to B mobile. But I gave meh to the 308 GTi, this isn't as good looking to have the same rating. I have to go with Uncool

The SSEI Bonneville (the performance model) is a very cool car, and with 240 horsepower, it beats out the Taurus SHO and Lincoln MK VII. Even the humdrum base model gets a 170 horsepower V6, which was impressive for the time.

Cool.

But when the MkVII was around, the L67 only made 205hp. And then in '93, the L67 was still only at 205hp, but the MkVIII came out with 280hp. As for the SHO, well, see above, the Bonnie didn't eclipse the SHO until 1994 at which point the SHO was on its way out.

Hell, even with 240hp they're still heavy and slow.

They're okay enough to save them from seriously uncool, but that's about it.

I always had a real soft spot for the last generation, interior aside. This one in comparison is just the Trans Sport sedan in my book.

Those would both eat this alive. Even the roly poly last SHO would give it a run for the money.

It wasn't that safe by 1999 standards. That's why GM made a big deal about how strong the Oldsmobile Aurora platform was when they switched all of their full size cars to it.

My grandma owned one, with the non-supercharged engine. A big softy. I helped pay for it after putting a ton of miles on her old first-gen Taurus one summer thanks to work. When the transmission blew (on a date, luckily five minutes back inside the Canadian border), it was cheaper to get a replacement car.

Always felt like you were three or four layers removed from every input. Also, seems to be a hit with older folks.

On the plus side, Gran Turismo taught me that modern Corvettes sounded just like this car!

Uncool.

To be fair it would not have appealed to anyone enough, plus the L67 would have stripped out whatever the General decided to use in no time probably. The SHO was quite fond of eating 3rd gear for an example of period FWD domestic gearbox strength.

I don't think there would be much of a point in putting a manual transmission in a car like this.
While I despise with a passion the if it ain't a manual it ain't **** mentality, I really really wanted the Prix to come in a manual. The Bonneville, though, would be rather pointless with a stick.

Sure there is, a cheap car owner deserves the most reliable transmission available, clutches are less expensive than transmissions to replace.

The Bonneville wasn't a cheap car when it was new though...

If you are a cheap car owner you aren't going for a Bonneville with either type of transmission, you would likely go for the Cavalier that was half the price.

Not so at all, I know plenty of misers with way more expensive cars than a Bonneville

Funny, one of my cousins drives one of these things.

Anyway, I gave it an uncool vote. It's another beige kind of car from 1990s GM, there aren't many cars that GM made in that era that I found cool.

Note, despite what I said; I kinda like how they look.

White trash transportation is never cool, but anything that could be had with a supercharged 3.8 deserves at least a meh.

My father owned one of these when I was a kid. Not sure if he was the original owner or not. Most likely the latter. The only significant memory I have of this car is sitting in the backseat during a torrential downpour on the highway and rainwater leaking through the top of my door. I do remember pulling the "raise window" button while it was up, which produced a loud "URRRRRRRRR" noise that 5-year-old me thought was hilarious.

Anyway, the car is dull and uninspiring like most American sedans of the time period. SU.

Yea, that's a side effect of having one of these. I get a bit of dust coming in through the rear doors when driving down a gravel road.
