RE:
The CS brings it down enough for me to hold off from voting lest I go with Meh.

Pretentiousness outweighs coolness here to the point where I can't say that the regular RS would be enough to save it. Though being clone bait doesn't really factor in for me even when (what I consider to be) cooler versions of the 993 are being used as sources for such modification.

Cool car, always surprises me how dated older Porsches look, because I usually can't see the difference moving forward.

I went with cool. But to charge so much extra for what is to the common person a poverty spec car is downright amusing. Think about it without your car guy/gal hat on...

Solid Cool by virtue of the increased performance over a standard Carrera, but the wing is atrocious.

Low low cool. Any air cooled 911 is overrated and you know it.
I don't know. Tell me how it is 'overrated'?
Don't bother. He'll just ignore you and never expand on or back up his position.

As for the 993 RS CS, it's a super cool car to enthusiasts which basically makes it uncool. Having someone gush over the minutia of what makes this 993 soo much cooler than that 993 is sure to bore everyone to death in record time.

Unavailable in the US saves it from seriously uncool. Just.

964 will IMHO always be the coolest RS. Smaller, lighter, prettier, more restrained and more enjoyment-focused than this bespoilered beast, just like an RS should be. I'll still give it a cool though because it's such a rare thoroughbred, but it's all a bit OTT (and pricey) for me.

Interesting comments.

The 964RS was widely hammered by the motoring press when it was released - criticised for being too hard for a road car. Values plummeted, and you could pick one up for £25k at one stage... now they are £150k+.

I agree with the smaller comments, but virtually no difference in weight (1,220 vs 1,270).

Collector-class Porsche 911's are just about the most uncool thing on the planet right now. They are no longer cars so much as they are line items on an investment portfolio. I really don't think you can get less cool than complete monetization of a previously interesting and useful thing.

I'm split on this. The body kit and especially the rear wing is just boy (girl) racer enough for me to like it but Porsches have become more if a status symbol than a car that you take out and drive dor the joy of driving especially when they charge more for less. I'll go meh on this one.
Besides, it's just an overpriced Beetle :P

You're not wrong, Porsches seem to have become status symbols, especially the RS models. Which is funny when you think about it, "renn sport" means "racing", they were build to take to the track. Instead they became the most highly collectible and valuable of all 911s. I love the RS models for what they are meant to be, but I hate that most of them are probably bought as investments and sit in garages, and their values will sit so high that I will never own one.

Also, that last sentence of yours. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :dopey:

Despite the ridiculous money that they are "worth" now and the stupid body kit, 993 are one of my favourite generations, and for me not just a "show off" car that Porsches have become. For me, because it attracts the right people and any one that drives it looks cool. It warrants it a Cool.

Can we really call it a bodykit though? Or is it a functional aero design?

A bit of both. But mostly overdone. Ths stupid I said was about being overdone, especially the rear spoiler
I agree, it's a little over the top. I believe the rear spoiler is adjustable though (the top section), and those air damns on the sides are functional. I do like it though! Then again, the silly, big wing on my old Subaru STI was one of my favorite parts. I guess I have a little "boy racer" still in me.

I agree with you. I even like the wing on the Civic Type-R. And big spoilers aren't cool, but they're part of the charm
