This is another one of those cars on which I don't know how to vote.

On the one hand I think it's awesome and cool, but on the other hand, it's just another garage Queen. Driven by tools who most likely will never take it to the track because it might hurt the value of their toy/ornament.

No idea how people get so excited about these - they are contrived, ugly museum pieces.

This quote captures all that's uncool with super/hyper cars... Most usually seen driving slowly round cities....

The only people who think driving a car like this is cool are teenage boys and gold diggers. Everybody else just thinks you're a cock!

You're just saying that because it's more exclusive than 993/996 GT1..

Only real memories of this car, well the road version anyway, are in Forza 4 and Midnight Club 3.

It's also a homologated racing car, which is another term for you needing to explain to the uninitiated why your seatbelts meant you didn't arrive in time and why you can't hear anything over the straight cut gears whining their tits off.

Combine that with butterfly doors, and boom. Seriously Uncool it is.

It's really not that confusing. It's an obvious street version of a fairly successful racing car from a period of time where motorsports were unusually popular, is old enough that it is just starting to fall under nostalgia, and it had by far the most media presence of its peers no doubt helped because it was the one where the most effort was made to sell it to the public. Whether or not it is cool or not is a somewhat different kettle of fish, but to act like it is completely inconceivable that it has a following is silly.

Maybe I actually enjoy driving a loud, uncomfortable car around? Do I care what people think about it? No. Having actually driven around hardcore race oriented street cars, I find the experience enjoyable. Unless I drive it like a cock, no one really cares about the person inside. I certainly don't whenever I see a supercar. All I'm looking at is the car itself.

@Stotty has a valid point about driving one of these. They are notoriously difficult to drive and the fact it really is driving a race car with a nicer interior means the road will just eat the underside of these (& the driver) up.

These are one of those cars that's easy to say they'd be fun to drive til you actually drive it.
It's an auto.
It's not. One of the first production cars featuring a clutch pedal & paddle shift transmission.

It's got paddles so it's not a gear-stick it's just a selector.
It doesn't take much to twist the drum in a sequential 'box--there exist vehicles that use actuators by way of a drive-by-wire system where there is no ECU control over shifting, just no mechanical link either. That said, I don't have the slightest idea what exists between the paddles and the gearbox of this particular car, nor do I the actual type of gearbox.

Anyway, SU from me.
