Additional Information:
The Series 1 Exige was launched in 2000 with a naturally aspirated 1.8 L Rover K-Series engine in VHPD (Very High Performance Derivative) tune. It produces 177 hp at 7,800 rpm in standard form. There was also a "track spec" version with 192 hp available. The car has a five-speed manual gearbox and a claimed top speed of 136 mph (219 km/h). The Exige achieved 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, while 0–100 km/h (62 mph) was achieved in 4.9 seconds.

The Series 1 Exige used the round, less aggressive headlights of the first generation Elise, although the Elise was updated soon after the introduction of the Exige. 604 Series 1 Exiges were produced from 2000 to 2002, and it was replaced by the Series 2 in 2004.

Always preferred the looks of the S1 Elise, which I maintain is the best gen of Elise. And the S1 Exige is much the same in that regard, and absolute pocket rocket with great looks in my opinion. Plus it's very rare, more so than it's successors, and they're hardly everywhere, so brownie points there.

Overall, Super Cool.

The Elise is cool because it's a small, cute convertible. The Exige is uncool because it looks like a track day bro kit car.

I have a feeling Clarkson would approve this response:tup:

I gave the Hammond answer: cool.

Lotus MOTORSPORT Elise

To be fair, the Motorsport Elise is a different model to the Exige entirely. The Motorsport Elise is a homolgation special if you will, of the Elise, built by Lotus for a one-make Lotus Championship; The AutoBytel Lotus Championship. The Motorsport Elise is a precursor to the Exige if you will, with just 65 original ones being built if I remember correctly (?) , and wasn't road legal originally.
