It's a real shame these cars are judged based on the people who drive them, but WRX drivers certainly are bros and bros can't be cool. But I try to look at it from another perspective though, having owned a near stock STI, I hated being lumped in with the bro crowd. I liked the car for what it was and where it came from, because I appreciate any road car born from motorsports.

But....but maybe deep down inside I've been a bro all along. Going from Volkwagen to Audi to Subaru and currently a Ford ST... oh no. *chugs monster energy drink* :nervous:

This would be the other Subaru I would have went for if I didn't get a Legacy 2.5 GT. It's my favorite Impreza next to the first generation.

Giving this a low cool, because as @SPhilli911's photo shows, some Impreza owners actually keep their car tasteful.

I don't look at the owners, but to me the car simply isn't 'cool' outside of an enthusiast's perspective, it's functional. For me it's like comparing a nerd to someone like Steve McQueen. The nerd knows a lot and can solve many issues with his functional brain power, to which you might go "wow, cool!", but look at him on the street without knowing that, and he's really not cool in the slightest right? On the other hand, McQueen oozes class without really doing anything, and you'd actually say to yourself, "wow, cool!" but the difference is that he's actually cool, knowing him or not.

In the same way you see an Impreza with it's wings and flares and whatnot, you hear about what it's technology is derived from and from how many temperatures the turbocharger can withstand to at so and so RPM, but look at it on the street? It's an Impreza with big wings which aren't used in regular driving.

I think this Impreza has the best looking rally car of them all.

Fair point. One thing that happens a lot with the STI is that you'll get questions like, "Is the wing functional?" or "What's the purpose of the big, silly looking, hood scoop?" and then you have to try to explain. One question I always got was, "Why would you put gold wheels on a blue car?" Explaining that it was a factory option and it's a nod to the rally team always sounded pretty lame even to me. On the same token, looking at a 911 GT3 RS, with decals, a large wing and a roll cage, those are cool to me. But imagine having to explain to people what it's about. I can see how that makes a car uncool.

I think the 22B is the coolest of them all! Even if it's an absurdly expensive Impreza.

^ This.

And Famine, is this one SU as well?

'00 2.5 RS. Rare, pretty capable, but forgotten in the car community since it's overshadowed by the STI models. Bros don't drive these.

@Famine Why must you be so vague...

He isn't vague, he doesn't find it cool. Rather than say a strange reasons, plus the other WRX/Impreza have been polled before, so if you're curious I'm sure you could find a more concrete answer. I mean the better question is why is it important that he finds it cool?

I love the classic.

I hate the bug eye and blob eye.

Dont mind the hawk eye.

I like the stinkeye, but since I own a stinkeye imp, i am biased.

Everyday commuter econobox with a wing on it.
