This thing Is cooler than cool, people who don't know underestimate them and they tend to be owned by more mature people than the STi/Evo crowd (no offense). Also, it's fast as hell
EDIT: just saw it's been done

Oh yeah, this one did. Nearly forgot about that.

I don't understand. Can someone explain it to me?

Basically, it's a strong set of gears. The 3.55 final gear in the rear axle gives a good compensation between brutal acceleration and highway driving, and combined with the tall transmission gears will net a very nice top speed without destroying acceleration in the process.

Do you not understand what it was that I posted, or do you not understand what my point was?

What I posted is the final drive gear ratio (the fixed gear ratio in the rear differential) and selected gear ratios from the transmission.

My point was:
The final drive ratio appears to offer a good compromise between acceleration off the line and top speed---maybe it's a little tall, but I certainly didn't think it merited the criticism in the post to which I was following up. The 3rd-4th-5th-6th ratios are close enough that you won't fall off a cliff when you shift gears. I was following up to someone who took issue with the gearing, and since I thought the gears looked good, I posted them to ask where the problem was. Based on the post, I was expecting either a big jump between transmission gears or a significantly taller final drive, something in the ballpark of 3.3 or lower.

Had to vote cool. One the quickest cars you could encounter back in the early '00s, & underrated by Ford. I think HP output was rated at 320-330hp, but in reality, I think a lot of owners found the car putting down 330-340 to the wheels.

Couple bolt ons & owners were suddenly past 400whp. It's crazy just how responsive the engine is once you let it breath. I remember a buddy of mine had a white one that pushed 550whp & my god, that car was so much fun to ride in, listening to that whine. The only thing I hate about the car is that ugly looking gear shifter.

Well, that & a lot of these cars have been modified or seen a lot of WOT pulls, so finding a mint example to start fresh & call your own means putting down a lot of money.

I don't consider highway gears to get good for a pony car. 3.55 and up are better IMO

Yeah those 3:27 and 3:08s are horrible. My Cobra was a complete dog with 3:08s and I have driven stock 96 to 98s and those 3:27s are bad. I have 3:73s now and its like a whole other car. Those 96 to 98s NEED at least 4:10s.

Very much agreed, but Ford wasn't about to do that with that model and for good reason though. I don't remember too awful many Mustangs coming from the factory with much more than 3.91's and sometimes up to 4.11's and higher model depending since the '60s.

If they did, you can only imagine how much faster they really would have been stock. That would have been scary.

I am not sure about the good reason Ford had for 3:08s in the 94-95s. I GAINED MPG in the city and lost a few on the highway so to me it would have been a easy fix for the lackluster performance that the 94-95 cars had.

Really? I figured it would be less.
