The standard ZT estate looks so good. Giving it a bit more oomph is just magical.

Cool

It's a modern MG, uncool.

Much like British MG's last cars, this car was a great idea that could not be executed in the proper way. It's more agressive than grandad's 75, but not faster than a M5 or a RS4. And unfortunately for it, it had to be to get some sales. Bonus points for creating a 'Murican take on a British estate wagon with barely any budget, but sadly it only gets a meh from me, not uncool because I respect MGs and it's still a pretty impressive wagon for a Rover.

A turd with a cheap bodykit, big wheels and a V8 engine is just a polished turd.

The interiors on these were like something from a Jag in the 1960's.

Uncool

As one of the last of the British MGs, I can't help but imagine a UKIP sticker in the rear window, as if its owner is too "patriotic" to drive a BMW/Audi/Volvo estate. Uncool.

There's one near with a 'Mustang' windscreen banner. :|

Look I actually don't mind the car, it is a 'good' car for sure.

Really isn't cool though - my first ever 'meh' (don't quote me, just use them rarely if ever).

I don't understand why they used the 4.6 Ferd when they could have used something like an LS.

260Hp. Come on. Should have been at least 400.

Despite the Mustang V8 and MG badging, it still can't disguise the fact that it's still a Rover 75.

Uncool.

They probably still had a deal with Ford from the XPower or whatever the hell it was called.

Cool. ZT-Ts in general are great-looking machines. The MG trim doesn't work so well on the saloon but it does at least suit the 260. If only they had more distinguishable cues* to set them apart from the other models besides the extra pipes and a small 260 badge on the side.

*The V8 version of the Rover 75 did a brilliant job of setting itself apart from the standard 75. By far the coolest model to grace the R40 platform.

Uncool. Wagons haven't really been cool since the 70s with a few exceptions and the fact this has the worst V8 Ford ever built doesn't help.
Its a PI 2v 4.6 which if far from the worst Ford V8. The worse would be the early '80s 255 Windsor or some of the Malaise era smog heaps.
Hell I bet that MG stock vs stock would give my 5.0 Cobra a run for its money. I voted cool. I remember when I 1st learned about this car I thought "A Wagon with a PI 2v that is awesome!!" shame we don't get them here.

It's one of the worst V8s they built. The 255 was pretty bad though. The 2V gets up and goes when it works but that's not very often in my experience.

That and the tradeoffs that come with it. The thing is bigger than a Boss 429, weighs a TON and has less displacement than a 289. Yeah no thanks. Not a modular guy at all.

Gets a solid cool from me. I like all of the Rover MGs, OK they are a little contrived but I like the styling personally, and although everyone here is saying they are unreliable, I still see them around here relatively frequently. It also seems a little redundant comparing them to an M5 or RS4 when there are tons of other wagons you could compare it to, many of which have less power. It really gets old when so many people seem to think there is no place for a variety of cars, it just has to be BMW this, Mercedes that etc. It almost comes across as a little insecure at times. Come on, you are car fans, vive la difference.

Cautious cool. It's not a bad looking thing (I personally prefer the saloon, but the estate will hardly put passers-by into convulsions), isn't a diesel (an odd positive perhaps, but when everything else of this size is diesel-powered the rumble of a V8 is a hugely pleasant alternative at the traffic lights) and it's understated.

However, MG does suffer from a poor reputation, carefully forged under British Leyland during the 1980s and not really shaken off during its partial renaissance in the early 2000s when the ZT appeared.

I quite enjoy how understated it is. That's kind of what makes it a bit cool for me.

Something as simple as adding a more pronounce bonnet bulge would do a perfect job of making the front end more perceptible as a top-end model. Nothing too bold, but enough to set the front apart from the 120s or 135s.

Disagree. As Rover/MG's flagship performance model, a direct comparison is valid.

They should have probably used the 4.4 BMW V8 that other British manufacturers had adopted (including Land/Range Rover, ironically) at that time. Would have been fitting as the 75/ZT was developed under BMW's ownership and included their rear suspension.

BMW sold MG/Rover a year after the ZT and 75 were made and quite a bit before the V8 Version came out.

A solid Cool. This is the classic muscle car formula applied to a different market. I want one of these, badly.

Im wondering why is this car engine not reliable isnt,it the same engine as the crown vic and the mustang

And the car is meh good engine performance but bad interior and it is really doesnt need eight lights on the front and no turn signals but as a wagon it is not really bad
