All this NASCAR hate is funny.

Sure it makes left turns. But, it also can turn right!!! I never would've guessed!

In all seriousness, Meh, because it's nothing like a Mustang, but it is fast. And Prius owners have to hate it.

SUBRC and a goofy looking one at that, looks like someone smashed its face together.

I would say Seriously Uncool because Silhouette racer but that would be a bit hypocritical of me.

So instead I'm going for resounding Meh because I couldn't care less about NASCAR.

Even ignoring the race car jibes as I do, it raced in the Nationwide Series, which I understand is ruined by the Sprint Cup racers hijacking it and rendering it utterly pointless.
Therefore, as a representation of this series as a whole, it can only be SU.

Honestly... are we just going to keep polling cars like this in hopes of finding the first denizen of hell?

This is about a dozen times cooler than the silhouette that Ford pretends represents the fusion.

A dozen times zero is still zero.

I liked the Fusion better.

I don't know why Ford uses the more reputable and recognisable brand* in the feeder tier instead of the top tier.

*Because with a NASCAR entry that's what it is, as much as it pains me to say. It would be a brazen lie to call it a 'car'.

They might as well of called it a C-Max.

All nascar cars look the same anyway, it don't matter if it has a camaro front, sorta, or a mustand, or taurus, they behave the absolute same.

Plus, I know these cars going fast excite some people but, most courses involves about going left. That gets real boring fast.

With that said, SU.

I liked when NASCAR actually used production cars.

I agree with this. I'd find NASCAR a million times more interesting if they actually used slightly modified production vehicles. I wouldn't even care if it was a Fusion out there driving around, at least it would be a stock car instead of a bunch of tubing with some fiberglass over it that looks like a car.

What makes you say that?

Because your conclusion wasn't that Formula 1 is the least cool! I'm not so much defending NASCAR, as I am questioning your own hierarchy of motorsport coolness... There really aren't many, or indeed any, sensory experiences in motorsport quite like top fuel dragsters (in my humble opinion) - you don't have to be a petrol head, understand the rules, follow the sport or any of that stuff to be moved by and/or get what's going on when watching drag racing.

Isnt that a nascar in your profile photo?

Yeah. I've been into NASCAR since I was a kid watching it with my Grandfather. It was a sarcastic post. I understand everyone's hate for NASCAR in general but truth be told there is a lot that goes into it and I'm more interested in the strategy of the sport and I take the haters comments with a grain of salt and picture them wearing monocles and top hats.

This is pretty much how I feel and why I like older NASCARs. While they kinda lost there way in the late 80s into what crap they call NASCAR now, I'd be perfectly ok with lightly modified cars that anyone could build exactly the same way they are on the track.

Seriously Uncool. It's only redeeming quality is that it's not the "Imapala" version.

So much this, plus any series that allows you to be within feet of the car whenever it's not on the track is rather cool in my book.

You're going to the wrong tracks then. I can stand within 4 feet of them at my local drag strip while they are actually on the track racing (in fact if I wanted to get closer I could). Really is a great place to socialize and meet new people.

Roush has a few of these, and an already uncool car (race car) is made SU because one of the teams with one of the most erratic driver line ups in recent NASCAR seasons campaigned the cars.

This. So much this. The shaking feeling when the top fuel machines is one of the most incredible feelings that I've ever felt. That, and at least in the NHRA, the fan experience blows most forms of motorsport out of the water. It's really nice to be able to walk the pits without needing to buy some expensive pass and basically be able to get any autograph from any driver in the series if you're patient enough.

I don't think they actually need to be even remotely production based, but things were an awful lot nicer when the cars that were campaigned on NASCAR tracks actually suffered and benefited from the designs of the production cars that they were aping. That hasn't happened, since, what? 1996? I think that was the year the Thunderbird was replaced and NASCAR basically threw out the entire production-based aerodynamics rulebook because the production Jellybean Taurus was so horrible.

Send it to hell.

I would watch at least one race with glee of slow, [mostly] front wheel drive, bone stock(not even safety equipment) midsize sedans duking it out on an oval.

Regular production cars as a basis for NASCARs began to be phased out in the mid 60's when unibody construction started become the road car norm, as there was now too much flex in the body. They first started by replacing the front ends with what was effectively a sub frame, then the frames slowly spread to the rest of the car. They still used stock exterior body panels up to the mid 80's when road cars started using large plastic bumpers/clips instead of the traditional metal items. The authorities didn't want the track littered with large bits of plastic when they would inevitably get knocked off. This is when exterior panels became the custom made aerodynamic type they use now which only really has a passing resemblance to the road car it's meant to be. Since the 60's they've been no more production based then a NGTC is now.
