Ugly, gigantic, overpriced SUV.

Although it does get a couple points for not being a crossover.

But still...

Seriously Uncool.

Leather interior, bigger than it needs to be, and has a V8. I'd buy one. Cool.

I would prefer one with the updated badge though. The round one just doesn't look right on the front grille.

Big Chromed American SUV. Normally this woul get an SU but I rather like the new styling and the V8 power also bumps it up to an uncool.

Over here these wouldn't be as common as it's Range Rover, BMW, Audi rivals thus making it slightly cooler.

However, the status they have in the US would be exactly the same as you'd get here. Rap wannabe drug dealer type.

Uncool.

I don't think they will sell such a big SUV in the Netherlands as the roads there are a little small.

You can buy an Escalade here, actually. However, very few people will because the 6.2 at least costs 166k, which is about the price of a nice appartment.

Voted SU, by the way. Mainly because these seem to be exclusively owned by obnoxious wannabe gangstas/rappers.

Well, or you could (for example) buy a new Porsche 911, and keep a lot of change (they start at 114k here).

These outrageous prices are caused by our special "gas guzzler" tax, which is based on CO2 emmisions. Tax is 125 euros for each gram of CO2 above 212 gr/km.

And how many C02 does the Escalade produce (I presume it is a lot)

It's a big, heavy, lumbering whale. Would have been an Uncool but that massive 6.2L V8 only puts out around 420hp. Don't know if it's because of the EcoTec technology applied to that engine, but it doesn't sit well for me. Seriously Uncool.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Escalades in person. Not this new new one but a fairly recent one. They look awful and are driven by people you don't want to meet.

Seriously Uncool

It's certainly interesting to know that Hp/l is a vital consideration for truck engines.

Yeah but the Escalade isn't a truck. At least, not where I come from. And, SUVs over here don't even have massive engines like that. They don't need to. If they did, they wouldn't sell that much because of their appalling fuel consumption.

No it's not. It's a body on frame SUV. Of which the basic frame design and almost the entire drivetrain are lifted from a truck.

How much better fuel economy do you actually think those higher-specific-output and/or forced induction equivalent engines get in competing models?
