I recommend driving one.
They're excellent to drive, even in base trim. The combination of a low centre of gravity, instant torque, smooth acceleration, and quiet electric power means it's the type of car that makes you seem like a better driver than you are, and in that sense it's a bit of a driver's car. The chassis and powertrain are excellent, and so it's unfortunate that the rest of the package lets it down. The rear seat is cramped and thus it's not very practical, and the centre screen has every function in it because it can, not because it should. The build quality is middling, as are the materials. It feels like it's trying too hard even though it's really quite a good car. Oh, and the Tesla fans are some of the most insufferable people on the internet.
