Cool. It's a sleeper. Does it look boring? Yep. Does it look uninspiring? Yep. But that's what makes it a sleeper in some sort of way. It's FWD, and it's heavy, thus I don't consider it to be Sub-Zero.

Its hard to choose between Uncool and Seriously Uncool.

Pros: Umm...

Cons: It's a Ford; It's a Taurus (Tauruses will always be in my mind at least uncool. They're shoddy pieces of crap); FWD; looks as bad as it goes (and I don't think straight-line performance reeeally cuts it); has an engine made by a Japanese motorcycle manufacturer which apart from the odd engine or two has no affiliation with cars whatsoever.

I'm gonna go with Seriously Uncool.

Oh sorry I just felt asleep by looking at it.

A toyota corolla almost looks exciting compared to this taurus and why the hell there's a yamaha engine in that ? Front wheel drive doesn't help it though. The only thing that it's keeping it away from seriously uncool is that it's a ford and I like ford.

Nothing about it screams "thrill ride"... I mean, I've heard about stealth cars and everything, but this isn't particularly fast anyway.

Looks boring, but it's pretty fast. Who says Lotus Carlton is handsome? It's a monster, so the Taurus is daily semi-monster, and they are cool.

It's cool. It's cool because you never see them, and the only people who drive them are old ladies who have no idea what they are or old guys who knew what they would become 20 years down the road. I've never personally seen a riced out one, or one owned by a stupid kid, but there are a couple around here that are very well-kept and in great condition, still being driven every now and then.

The coolness of a car is not a direct factor of the car itself, more the personality of its stereotypical driver. And since the original SHO seems to be a well hidden secret to only collecting enthusiasts, it's a cool car.

Some of you people have a very American, Hollywood sense of "cool". No. That's now how it works.

That's right, I called it Sub-Zero. Its still a sport sedan with a lot of high performance credentials. Its still arguably one of the best cars any American automaker put together since the 1960s. Thumbs up across the board on this one.

Or maybe, like me, people are voting uncool because it's less interesting as a piece of design than a cardboard box, and because non-"car people" wouldn't be able to tell it from any other bland, depressing 80s Taurus.

Its kinda "meh" to me, but for the time, it was pretty cool. It certainly was a nice change from the blocky and square designs of the late 70s/ early 80s and it was a decent stab at a high performance sedan.

Compared to todays offerings, its just an old Ford.

If you ask me, the one thing that could've made it cool was this scene in Robocop 3.

Except that's not a SHO, but rather a base model (denoted by the lack of a wheel that isn't black steel). (No rhyme intended haha)

If you want an example of a SHO (1st gen) in a movie, check out the beginning of The Santa Claus.
