Un-cool. Its the poor mans Saab. What douche is pretending to be something that is pretending to be a BMW?

Lol wut?

*attempts to find anything that Saab ever made in this segment*

to me, all French cars (except the Renault Sport Clio) are uncool because its from France

The Saab 99 came in a FWD coupe form at one point during it's life time and the Saab 90 was a FWD coupe.

So we're just about a decade later then...

I can easily see how someone would think "Damn, I can't afford to buy this non-existant Saab. I'll just have to put £30k down on this 406 V6 Coupe instead."

That's even more Italian then the 406 is.

Still a cool French car though...I mean if we really want to be pedantic, we could take apart almost every car in existance and debate their "true" nationality.

The situation with the EB110 is rather complicated. Its a cool Italian car with a French name on the badge. The EB110 is no more French then your average Ferrari is. The company that made the EB110 was even based down the street from Ferrari.

Uncool. Never really have been a fan of Peugeots apart from the most legendary of them all, the 205 GTi. Then again I'm going by the basis of a brand here as I've never driven a 406.

This may sound really stupid given my reasoning, but I voted "Cool" on the fact that I liked it in Gran Turismo 2.

Never really got attached to the Peugeot line of cars, they just never really did anything for me.I'll just go with a basic uncool.

I to don't like Peugeot, but it's a nice looking car, so I'm going to go ahead and say cool. Reason? Good looking cars will impress people, good cars will impress car people. Knowing lots about the technicalities of cars, driving and such, just ain't cool with the ladies!

Uncool.
Its a 2door coupe which has some style, but if its a 2 door coupe, it should have some sporty crendentials. That could either be a comfortable GT cruiser or a sporty nippy little thing.

Problem is that its quite heavy, quite soft, hasn't got the most power in the world and its FWD - which, when you have all the previously mentioned facts, is quite bad. This means it can't be a weekend weapon. This isn't to say it isn't a cool car.

It probably is good as a cruiser, but why less practicality? Why not keep the style with 4 doors? Its possible. The CLS is a prime example but there are many. I don't know, but I always think Pug designed this as a gadget, an accessory. It reminds me of a fake Vietnamise made wallet - it looks almost as good, but it just doesn't live up to it. And 2 doors just makes it seem like its trying too hard. IMO of course.

Its known that I like mid-size cars. More so, when they do coupe versions of them, I tend to go mad. It being French, it would be the perfect storm, right? It gets a Cool, not quite enough for a Sub-Zero.

Don't think too hard, cause it doesn't make sense, but its just how it is. I get told all the time that my G35 S is the poor mans Audi, where they got that I have no idea, but if its said enough it must be true. Just keep repeating my post until it becomes truth for you too and my post will finally make sense.

Regardless of Daan owning one I always thought of it as a cool car, sub 200hp car with Brembos! Whats more to say (except I am quite a sucker for good looking coupes). :D

No, that's fine. I quite like to have the contents of my head logically organised.

I always think Pug designed this as a gadget

Would be an interesting theory if Peugeot designed it at all...

I'm well aware it was designed by Pininfarina - designed as more like setting the designed perameters, brief etc. Peuegeot work with Pininfarina to make the car - they don't rock up to Pininfarina and say "i'd like a car please" with no further info or perameters. So yes, actually, Peugeot helped design it.

Peugeot's "design" was everything you can't see. How the car looks is Pininfarina. Remember, they built it, not Peugeot, so the design was based around Pininfarina's tooling and factory, not Peugeot's.

It does the cruiser thing fairly well as far as I'm aware. An excellent ride/handling balance and a smoooooooth 2.5 V6 take care of those pretty well. Not to mention comfy squashy seats and loaded with kit.

:odd: "This isn't to say it isn't a cool car"... and then you voted it uncool...

Also, FWD does not immediately make a car crap or somehow inferior. I can't see why people keep bringing this one up.

I'm confuzzled. There are "cruisers" that are far less practical - you can quite happily get four people in a 406 Coupe and the boot is quite large - and certainly no less practical than a saloon's boot. Also, the popular concept of a four-door coupe didn't really exist back in 1997 so it's not like they chose to make a 2-door one rather than a 4-door one. So the comparison with the much newer CLS is also a mystery, as is why it's "trying too hard" if it only has two doors. Lets look at it's competitors around the same time (from memory, these ones were all compared to it in road tests at the time):

BMW E36 3-Series coupe, Fiat Coupe, Alfa Romeo GTV, Toyota Celica, Honda Prelude, Hyundai Coupe, Vauxhall Calibra, Ford Cougar, Nissan 200SX, Rover 1.8 VVC coupe, etc...

What format are they all in? Yup, two doors. I think out of all those there are only two hatchbacks rather than true coupes too, the Hyundai and the Toyota. And apart from probably the BMW, the Peugeot is much more suited to carrying more than two passengers than the others.
