Swiss coachbuilder Beutler also made a coupé version based on the 356.

That is actually pretty cool.

In the same league as the Merc SL

Great point. The Merc was never a superfast car (back then it was)but that and the 356 are cars you could go to the track and whoop some vintage car ass, then head out to a motor show and win for beauty or something like that. It's a car that backs up sport with sweet looks. In fact, this car looks so sweet, that if cars were food, this thing would rot your teeth into dust.

Cool. Always loved them but prefer the coupe version.

And this has given my the urge to locate my copy of NFS Porsche Unleashed and play that again.

Cool. Not sub-zero, because too few people get it. But that's not the point. This car is awesome. It may be weak, it may be bulbous, it may be a glorified Beetle. But it is the car that made Porsche one of the best. Can you imagine doing a long distance rally in a convertible 356? I can, and I've got something to think about when I fall asleep.

I just dont feel anything looking at this car, it could be its age, Im not really into cars from the 40s bit to old for me.

On the other hand I can understand people giving it sub zero just for what it is, what it represents.

It has to be a Meh for me

Subzero, needs it's own fridge. I'd put this only slight behind the 300SL Merc. Definitely an awsome car. I'd love to have a modernized one with a barebones 1.8T Audi/VW engine.

I like the car but as The Cracker pointed out, if you see one on the road it's most likely a replica. Only cool.

Well the only popular ( Beetle-based ) replica is the Speedster version as the real ones are extremely rare and command extremely high prices.
If you see a Coupé version ( or a "regular" Roadster ) the change of being the real deal are much higher ( don't think the Coupé version is even available as replica ).:)

Thats not what I was told way back in the Cadillac Escalade Cool Wall:

Well that's fine and dandy if we were voting on a specific trim. But in this vote, it only says "Porsche 356", there is a picture of a Speedster model in the op merely by chance.

These are such great cars. I think its one of Porsche's best looking cars. Once you own a Porsche, you are hooked.

Some of the best cars get "copied". Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, Shelby.

It doesn't get my heart rate up like the early 911's do, but I will definitely turn my head and watch when I see one of these going down the road.

Cool.

I saw "new" Porsche 356 coupes for sale a few months ago. Those were of course beetle based replicas.

I voted sub-zero. A porsche that doesn`t scream "look what I can afford!" is always awesome. my favorite Porsche after the 914\6.
