Because they sell things like the Camry that are infamously boring.

Of course, it doesn't really fit, since something that boring is uncool, but whatever.

It looks like the numerical results of the 1999-2003 BMW M5 and the 2008+ Fiat 500 Abarth are not in the first post/results post. Can you update the results list with those numbers, please?

So the 2nd and 5th Gen Vipers have been up for vote, as has the 3rd gen GTS-R. I feel the 1st, 3rd/4th Gens should be up for voting as should the 2nd Gen GTS-R and the new GT3-R (I don't know if SRT has built a buyable version of the 5th Gen GTS-R, but you can buy the GT3-R.)

I'd also say that one could put the 2003 SRT10 Roadster up for the 3rd Gen and the Coupe up for 4th Gen.

The '95-'95 Ford Taurus SHO is missing the "Ford" part on the list, and the Leyland P76 is misspelled as "Leyand".

I'd like to suggest the "wastelands" section be renamed to something more directly associated with temperature and not being particularly good or bad.
Wastelands implies bad, no one hears of a trip into the wastelands and says "I'm ok with that." In the end, that is the section for Meh, meaning indifferent, not good but not bad.

With that in mind, I suggest...

"Lukewarm" or "Tepid"

'Middle of the Road' would make for an apt replacement. Or if you want to be straightforward about it, 'Neutral Zone'.

I was thinking it would be good to stick with a temperature based name like everything else. 👍
Tepid is probably the best way to go imho. :D

If we rename the wastelands to be named around temperature, we have to rename uncool and seriously uncool, and that would get confusing...

Why no response or action?
Wastelands is a horrible name...
Meh or luke-warm or tepid should seriously be cosidered.

Why do you think I rarely bothered saying anything? Most vote and their done with it. Those 'Public Opinion' polls I did were proof of that.

Anywho, I suppose I should explain the mindset behind the names:
  • What is now "Steve McQueen's Garage" started off as the "Heaven" section, added so the ultimate expressions of cool could be seen by all. Azure Flare made the recommendation to change it as I was getting everything set up, but he was the only one to suggest anything for any of them, And I know I stated they were open so no whining on that.
  • The "Ice Box" already existed, and in the same vein as Top Gear's "DB9 Fridge", was selective at best. If it was exceedingly cool, then it was put here instead of SZ. I thought it was a good idea, and put it into the system proper.
  • "Sub Zero", "Cool", "Uncool", and "Seriously Uncool" are what you see already. Saw no real reason to change.
  • The current focus, the "Wastelands" section, is a section that had reason to exist, but no good name. I came to wasteland because on one side there was lively and lauded, then on the other there were the shunned and loathed, but here was this bit of existence that had no appeal, a range no one wanted to be in. I thought about "scrapyard" but I decided against it because they weren't crap, just either bland or, in the case of the Venom, was the battleline.
  • On that note, what is the "Dungeon/Outhouse" section WOULD be full of distain and bile, I simply couldn't decide which was a better fit, especially with NO FEEDBACK.
  • "Hell" was easy, a counterpoint to "McQueen's".

I noticed that both results in the OP for the cars I nominated are incorrect.

The Volvo 480 Turbo should be 0.114 as opposed to the slightly more generous 1.114. And although the Lexus SC430 is in the right spot on the wall between the Escalade and the Olds Delta 88, it should be -1.360 rather than just -1.

Oops.

Although I don't think the SC430 was my doing. (Actually yes it was, for some reason I forgot about the recent one and though someone had previously polled the 90s model).

@White & Nerdy I'd like to suggest some changes for the levels of coolness on the wall.

It seems odd that the Shelby Cobra (1.845) and the Ford RS200 (1.561) fall into the same category when there is a substantial difference in their ratings. I think there should be another level between Sub-Zero and Ice Box, which could be called "In the freezer" or "Arctic", etc. The rating margain for the new level could be 1.500 to 1.699. This change would make the Sub-Zero level more exclusive, as it seems more and more cars are being added to it.

Another change would be to merge the "Hell" and "Dungeon/Outhouse" levels to one "Hell" level, as there is no point in having two levels so low when the only car ever polled uncool enough to reach them is barely a real car. Plus, the name "dungeon" doesn't make much sense, to me at least.

Just some suggestions, it's your wall of course.

What is room temp?

My room's temp goes from 9C on cold winter mornings to 36C on hot summers days.

Typically it's described as 68 - 74 degrees Fahrenheit, a range of temperature where most of us will neither complain its too hot or too cold. Since the results are temperature related (hell being very hot thus uncool and the icebox being very cold and sub-zero) "room temperature" would represent the middle ground that nobody talks or cares about. It was just basically a passing though I posted and forgot about.

No HVAC or insulation ?
