It looks awesome, to be honest. And though it's a replica, it's as good as it can apparently get. Sub-Zero.

EDIT: An apparently, I'm an idiot. No, not apparently. Voted Uncool by error. :banghead:

Replicas, by their very nature are UNCOOL. There is no vision, there is no creativity, it is merely a carbon copy of a car where engineers 50 years ago did ALL the HARD work.

If I went out and did a painting of the Mona Lisa with new paint and better canvas, would I be cool?

Certainly not.

The definition of cool, by its very nature is ORIGINALITY. Once someone copies that concept or that idea, they immediately become clones (no matter how good the clone may be) and can never surpass the very first masterful creation.

Uncool. And for those who aren't sure of this cars actual existence, exigeracer will know because he nominated it.

Peeeerfect. I nominated this car because of the kind of discussion we could entertain from a relatively unknown sportscar of a different set of goals than your typical company. I have no idea why we bothered voting for something like a Lancia Strato's when everyone knew that it would be a sub-zero barn burner.

Here we've a company not many people have heard of, coupled with things we have heard of, such as the DBR2 body, motor and replica recreation value. Vaporware naysayers:

The thing exists, Autoblog have driven the car too.

As far as the replica aspect, I'd say this falls more into the category of tribute rather than ripoff. The selling factor of having a vintage racecar without the hassle somewhat irks me as that is a huge portion of the ownership experience. However, the modern materials and processes that are involved in the car offer a really interesting contrast to the 50's era features, such as the few controls, no power anything and maintenance-conscious body assembly.

There's a lot more going on than "It's a replica and they suck" so I hope those of you who were quick to jump conclusions and take a look at a car (and any other that you vote for) before clicking the Vote Now button. I realize gut instinct is a huge portion of cool (if you saw one rolling down the street would you instantly say "cool!" or "eeeew!") but there is a lot more going on here than a "Fiero 'F40'"

Got to vote this sub zero... just look at it FFS... one of the best looking cars ever built from an era that produced a host of fabulous cars... it's achingly beautiful.

So what if it's a recreation? If it's been done properly I don't see the problem with it... it's not like it's a plastic bodied Cobra kit car built with Ford Cortina parts and fitted with a Rover V8. And most importantly they haven't tried to bring it up to date with wide, low profile tyres.

There are so few DBR2's left and the ones that do remain are prohibitively expensive... I'm sure this won't be cheap, but then again it won't be ÂŁ5 million (which is the going rate for a 'real' DBR2).

How a board of supposed car people can vote something like the 406 Coupe or a monster truck cool or sub zero, yet consider this un-cool is beyond me.

On paper it looks brilliant, but the price, coped with it's a (very) unknown company, and (to me, anyway) it looks just like a Ferrari MeToo50 GTO.. Going uncool. Depending upon the quality since it's a kit-car, I would have voted Seriously Uncool. Shame, too.

FFS, the DBR2 was built in 1957... the 250 GTO in 1964.

I'm one of the 250's biggest fans, but it looks more like a DB4 Zagaoto (1960/61) than the DBR2.

Easy man! :scared: Didn't know, I'm more a fan of later vintage cars (Late sixties onward).

Didn't know this was that early of a car, though. Thanks on the info. đź‘Ť

That's the problem. It hasn't been done properly. It has a carbon-fiber tub and aluminum honeycomb monocoque chassis with carbon-fiber body panels lined with Nomex. It's just as unauthentic as a plastic Cobra, no matter how exotic the materials used. It's a kitcar for the ultra rich rather than the man on the street and that certainly doesn't make it any cooler IMO.

Wire wheels on a car made of CF. P-leeease.
