WRX (GC)?

  • Poll closed .
So then how's that relevant to this?

You asked, thats how it is now but I was heavy in the Commodore street scene about 5 years ago (chromies were nasty then too, one friend had 18inch chromies on a VS SS (late series 2 185kw version) for posing).

bBt the end result is I see probably 20+ facepalm worthy Commodores for every facepalm worthy WRX, but as I said earlier Commodores are much more common cars so it is expected. I used to be involved in a HSV club (involved, not a member, I will never become member of any car club) and even many of them did ridiculous things.

WRX's have fallen in to sad hands too, plenty of awful ones these days(which I never denied).

Maybe it just comes down to the cold, hard fact that 90% of the population these days have more desire to be part of the night-life which is perceived as cool as opposed to brains? I.e. 90% of the population are stupid. Is any car really safe?

I'll ask you not to modify my post like that, and I'll just leave you with your incorrect assumptions and ask you to move along.👎

Since when was it an incorrect assumption? Completely different part of Australia, completely different circumstances. I have seen no JAFOCs with both a set of chrome wheels for street use and a set of banger wheels for dragging. It's either chromies or a set of chromies on the front, set of "drag" wheels on the back. Never a separate set for either purpose.

And as for modifying your post, I apologise for that, won't happen again.

Uncool, WRXs are the magnet of attraction to all the ricers and know nothings of cars in Australia. It seems they think it's cool and they buy it as a fashion statement and nothing more. Very few seem to buy them for legit performance reasons. Evos fair a hundred times better for the type of owners that buy them.

Maybe it's because Evos are generally quite a bit more expensive here too, and the WRXs have that mad tyte exhaust burble note yo.

Too bad the 'fully sic' crowd has jumped into Evo 8's & 9's like crazy and are abortioning them quicker than cooking some 2 minute noodles. Sydney is a prime place for that. Thank god, the Evo's I've seen up here have been kept tastefully modified. And WRX's....I haven't seen a modified one in nearly 4 months. :odd: On the flip side, I keep hearing bogans in utes (both Ford & Holden) with crappy straight through mufflers trying to bling them up and make them sound good with disastrous results, sounds worse than any 3" WRX EVER COULD. :)

Wait... this says voting open... but the poll's closed. I'm guessing Joey forgot to change the title, right? I may just be confused...

This thread is hilarious!

Wish I could vote. The GC was the originator of the WRX, Light, fast and tweakable, it shouldn't be judged on the owners who can't modify them properly. I've been seeing a stack of kids in VR-VX Commodores around lately with lousy wheels, oversized exhausts, cheap Korean clear-lens taillights and terrible bodykits that rank right up there with GLX Lancer owners.

It looks like the term "rice" can now be applied to us Holden guys too!

You wish you could vote, think how I feel, I suggested the bloody car and I missed out!!

And yes, you guys can be called ricers too....just "domestic rice" would be more appropriate.

Rice is a staple...yes? Rice comes from the continent of Asia. An Australian staple would be Wheetbix.

So yes, some utes are soooo Wheetbix.

Also using the same logic, a Cizeta is now called pure and utter pasta.

:P

Good to have you back BTW

I just can't vote.

Pros: 1). Fast. 2). Rally-proven chassis and handling. 3). McRae. 4). Turbocharged Boxer engine with AWD drivetrain...complex but very interesting and, for me, cool. 5). I think that it's the only WRX sold as a 2-door coupe.

Cons: 1). Scooby? WTF? I've heard "Subbie Furie" and thought it was ok, but Scooby? 👎 2). It is not the prettiest WRX ever made, and being honest no WRX has been extremely gorgeous. 3). For some reason, i always see more Subaru Impreza breadvans than hardcore 4-door WRX's. 4). It has ben raped of ways so awful such as this:

5 reasons Vs. 4...I'd go for "Cool", i think. Very hard decision.

Oddly enough, I'm not much bothered by the fact that people turn the Impreza into trash.

But I still like the GD better.

Carbastard, that pic you put up actually isn't a badly raped WRX, it was built by a pair of brothers (the Osman's) quite a few years ago (around 2001-02). It's swapped to the EJ20TT motor for one and has a tasteful interior....the airbrushing on it was because of the airbrushing fad that was going around the USA and Australia at that time.

This car actually paved the way for a lot of show car owners here to start going more over the top than they currently were. However, they continued to push the envelope, they even went to the lengths of making a convertible WRX show car. Here's a pic.

Yes, I realise 1/2 of the things on it belong on Q-mods, but that's what they did and it won them a stackload of awards.

-> Although the voting closed; I vote Cool, why?

Voted cool for its potential, dfinately not sub zero because of Subies unreliable gear boxes.

So even though the poll has long since closed, why on earth are we still talking about it?

Thread is still open, topic is still up for discussion, isn't it apparent?
I guess not to some.
