This grip multiplier thing needs to be addressed... how do you plan to do so LV? I've drifted with guys with a 86 on non racing chassis and out paced me from start to finish...I don't see how its possible without grip multiplier or a race chassis. How can we tell if there are no numbers assigned to grip.

There isn't. Someone can put a legal car on share to get inspected and we can go over the specific codes and be ok. Then when competition time comes around they can be running an illegal setup. That's why we do not have a set in stone date because we can't just trust new guys that don't have a reputation rather than the returning competitors that have earned their place in the previous seasons. Although the HP should be legalized, it doesn't effect the car in an unnatural way. It simply increases the HP and torque while keeping the same balance between the two and increases the PP. I honestly cannot see why the HP/Torque increase should be prohibited. If high HP is an issue put a limit on it. Not that it matters anyways because mostly all cars can't use all of it power towards the ground so there wont be a difference in speed with a 450HP car and a 900HP car.

I don't with the HP game as much only cause I was running a car with 545hp, and 450(I think) tq last season and got my ass handed to me. I also blame suspension set up too.
Tq is the game to play in drifting.

If you're running 545HP & 425LB/TQ you should have no problems. That's why the HP modifier shouldn't be prohibited since you cant separately adjust the torque.

Everyone making more power and tq just ran away from me. But like I said, suspension setup wasn't that great.

This 2013 FD session will be like the new formula D. Everyone is doing V8's or in GT5 (modded) cars. :/ I guess that's fine just takes the fun out of it sort of for some reason.

There's lots of non v8 motors running in FormulaD this year. Not sure where you're getting your info from.

I also don't understand why people hate on V8s so much. If you got rid V8s, everyone would be running either I6 or I4, maybe a few boxer 4. I think it's actually kind of funny how some people seem to desperately fight against V8s, even though it's very clear they are one of the two best motors for drifting. And for an amateur drifter, there really is no better motor in terms of power, torque, ease of maintainence, and reliability.

I guess I just don't understand why people think that drifting with a certain type of motor makes the drifting either less or more impressive.

And as far as GT5 goes, "everyone" is using hybrids because they are new. Most of us have been playing this game for a few years now, so we're quite bored with the regular Supra/350Z/370Z/SS10 that we've drove for literally months straight, if not years.

True v8 has torque Witch is what drifters want. Plus this is formula d witch in real life has v8 powered cars. If I'm not mistaken I'm pretty sure I remember a Japanese guy drifting a v8 s13.

FD 2012 it was a 2jz in the winner's car :P

Pretty much what Ant said. Plus the fact that there are WAY more people signed up than was anticipated, and a lot of them are new people with low post counts, or people that are just coming up.

Right now it's going to be impossible to try and make sure everyone signed up has an opportunity to qualify and participate the way Formula D seasons have been operated the past 3 seasons. Not without some major support, which would mean relying on a lot of people with schedules probably as hectic as mine. Which would make for the even being spread throughout the week. You can see where this is holding things up.

One thing I messed up I don't know how to fix is the poll, I didn't enable it to show who voted for what option. If the guys who have been consistent competitors in the series could PM me which day would work better for them, it would be greatly appreciated. This is another issue holding up a start date, especially since my F1 2012 league just took off, which is running on Sunday afternoons and is going to tie up half of my weekend already.

After we talked about this the other day, I think it would be a good idea to allow it for people to make up the PP they may need. The reason the PP limit is there is to try and balance the speed. I need to do some testing, I may consider lowering the PP slightly but I'm not sure yet. There is still the issue of grip multiplier and cheating though...

When it comes down to this, all you can do is depend on the honor system. :)

Pretty much. There's still the issue of how we're going to host this with half the drifting community signed up :nervous:

The 2011 FD championship was won by Dia Yoshihara (spelling?) in a V8 powered S13.

Edit: Bah, Spank beat me to it

Haha! I won. Which never happens against you.

What's the problem with that?

Dai in his discount tire s13 with an ls.

I must ask, to avoid my own confusion, who is Dai? (Just getting myself into this here so nicknames are new to me) Over in the racing series forum that's what I'm referred to as.

He is a Formula Drift (real life) driver.
