It's official: After much mentioning of a few endurance championship ideas, I'm finally starting one of them for real. Welcome to the GTPlanet Production Car Endurance Association Schwarzwald League!
Now for the basics: Any car eligible for GT5's Schwarzwald League A & B events can compete in this championship. The tracks here are the same as those used in the GT5 version, with a few differences.
Nürburgring Type V - 14 laps - 200 miles (possibly pre-season spot race only)
Nürburgring GP/F - 63 laps - 200 miles
Deep Forest Raceway - 90 laps - 200 miles
Cape Ring - 46 laps - 200 miles
Nürburgring 24h (Weather Change/Time Change) - 13 laps - 200 miles
As you can see, the races are all the minimum # of laps beyond 200 miles. Deep Forest Raceway replaces Tokyo R246 because this track seems more like a German track than R246, especially since it was used in GT2's German Nationals. Nürburgring Nordschleife, the most overly used Nürburgring layout that utilizes the Nordschleife portion, has been replaced by the 24h layout to allow for the possibility of racing in the rain and at night, the latter of which will happen.
Another interesting aspect is that this will be a multi-class championship. Here is the class structure and some vehicles that are eligible in each class:
Power Coupe (R8 4.2, R8 5.2, M3 Coupe, M3 GTR, SL55, SL600, SLS, SLR, BTR and CTR)
Power Sedan & Wagon (RS4, RS6, RS6 Avant, M5, C63 and E55)
Sports Car (TT, 135i, Z4 M Coupe, Speedster, Speedster Turbo, and 3400S)
Sports Sedan & Hot Hatchback (A3, S3, S4, 120d, 120i, 190E, Cooper, Cooper S, Golf, Scirocco and Bora 4MOTION)
Now to present the class regulations:
Power Coupe
Max. Power: 600HP
Min. Weight: 1200kg
Power Sedan & Wagon
Max. Power: 600HP
Min. Weight: 1400kg
Sports Coupe
Max Power: 350HP
Min. Weight: 750kg (this low weight is to accommodate cars like the Opel Speedster)
Sports Sedan & Hot Hatchback
Max. Power: 300HP
Min. Weight: 900kg (this is a tentative weight limit)
If ballast needs to be adjusted to meet the minimum weight, you may do so. If power needs to be adjusted to meet the power limit, you may do so.
The target is four cars per class.
Tires for all classes: Racing Soft, Medium and Hard (This is to allow for use of wet tires on a rain-affected Nürburgring 24h layout.)
Drivers must make at least one pitstop during the course of a race.
Now for a few more rules:
Tire Wear/Fuel Consumption: On & Normal
Grip Reduction: Real
Mechanical Damage: Heavy (This is meant to keep the racing as clean as possible.)
ABS: 1 at max.
TCS: 2 at max.
ASM: Off
Active Steering: Your choice
Race starts: Races on the Nürburgring Type V and 24h layouts will just start from the starting grid with no warmup lap. All others might have one. Start type has yet to be determined. Input is welcome.
Overtaking: As this is a multi-class series, overtaking back-markers will likely play a huge role in the racing action. If you're in a car in a slower class and are being overtaken by a car in a faster class, be sure to give them enough room to pass you safely. You don't have to slow down to let them through, but don't hold them up. If you're in a car in a faster class overtaking a car in a slower class, give yourself plenty of room.
Also, these are long races that can't always be won on the first lap. Be careful. The mechanical damage is set to Heavy for a reason.
Cautions: Local yellows will definitely be in effect. The only time a full-course caution will be called is if two or more cars are involved in an accident or if a car is blocking the track and is basically immobilized. The overall race leader will have to slow down and let the rest of the field catch back up. Pitting during a full-course caution will be allowed once the entire field has caught up. After any pitstops take place, once the field is back together, racing will resume. Wave-arounds and such will be discussed later.
Modifications: Race-modified cars are not eligible due to the fact that this modification isn't available for all eligible cars. However, all aero kits are allowed, especially on cars that allow the installation of such kits.
Below is the class entry list. State your GTP name, PSN name, class you want to enter and vehicle you would like to race.
