Cool! That works for me when you race. Thank you very much for all that info. well it looks like i got the wrong 89 oh well.. Well thank you again. I will start getting ready for season two.

Right now, being the off-season, we run practice/testing sessions whenever someone feels like opening a room. The OP has advanced to the final round of GT Academy and does not want to start Season 2 until after its completion.

During Season 1 we raced ~40 minute races on Sunday evenings, typically around 7:00 PM EST, with a practice/qualifying session opening an hour before the race.

The Season 2 rulebook is still in the works as we are making some changes to the Season 1 formula to take some of the tuning aspect out, putting a larger emphasis on driver ability. We may also be expanding the model roster but we still need to test the various models of Miatas available in GT5 to see what is doable.

However, you are more than welcome to purchase an '89 or '91 Eunos Roadster (Premium) and start the engine break-in process so you are ready to launch when Season 2 gets rolling.

I was in a room last night and decided to try out my roadster. I noticed that there's no PP change when using fixed, sports, and full suspension. :grumpy:

Has anyone advertised our GTP series to the major miata websites yet?

Make sure you purchase the PREMIUM 1989 roadster. For some reason the 91 gives us slower lap times when compare to the 89.

Yup, that is why the other night during our practice session Turbo was talking about possibly allowing clutch, flywheel, LSD, and driveshaft mods. It is too hard to regulate as they are not easily detected like a transmission mod (which also doesn't affect PP).

Have you guys tried comparing lap times with your suspensions from last season to a fixed suspension set? How much of a difference in lap times can we expect?

I'm assuming that there's a noticeable difference if we're considering using fixed. Transmission mods can be observed quite easily but I haven't tried looking myself. Weight and powerfor the 89's are easily restricted with the room settings. That doesn't seem to be the case with the NBs. This'll be a tough cookie.

I might post up the Season 2 thread before the end of the day with the final specs for the '89 Premium car and just make it a "General Discussion" thread for now until GT Academy finishes.

It's going to be a bittersweet moment since this is one of the, if not, the largest threads in the GT5 section. lol

True enough, but I think this thread is a bit intimidating for anyone who hasn't followed it since the beginning

As it currently stands, this thread accounts for 6.4% of all the posts in the GT5 Online subforum!
Impressive to say the least.

Edit: It's the largest by far. You can sort by number of posts, and this is more than double the next largest thread.

Are you planning on using 389PP as the performance limit?

i love miatas and spec miata videos on youtube look fun as hell. Some day i am going to get a spec miata going out their, but till then i got to stick to gt5 jajaja. I know miatas are alot of fun and sucks i dint cacht up on this gtplanet post leauge earlyer, but yall can count on me for season 2 yo i am game

Hey RT. I just had a random thought.

I think it would be cool if we newly dubbed season 2 the "Flyin' Miata Championship series"

I don't really know how that would go down in the way of promotional or site policy issues but I just think it would be a really cool name for us to go with.

Can't wait to see the new post. I've decided that I'm sticking with the first color I ever used in the series - Splash Green Mica. Cheers

I guess I haven't posted in here in a while...

I'm definitely gonna be racing in this. No clue if I'll keep my current colous or not, though.

Hard to say. I used the sponsors in the Lexus series because they already had stickers on the cars, and we could theoretically say that the cars are using Yokohama tires. For Spec Miata, no aftermarket mods are allowed so it wouldn't make sense to have a sponsor that wouldn't be able to supply parts. (I know it's just a game, but bear with me) We could use companies like Mazdaspeed, Toyo, etc that are used in the real series and would make more sense.

Sorry I didn't get the thread up tonight, forgot about it and now it's too late. I'll try my best to get it up tomorrow. :)

Wardez - Are you just looking for an attractive title or are you looking to involve flyin' miata some how? Didn't RT1.6 used to work for FM back in the day? lol.

I used to, and might still have a connection with them as a car I am looking at purchasing has lots of their parts on it. I would be 99% sure I would get an OK from them to use their logo, etc. I'll look into it. ;)

Edit: Just going to add a couple things about Season 2:

- One of the races might end up being a two-race event happening on the same weekend.
- There will be a pre-season race, date yet unknown
- Same 5-race championship with two tracks returning, three tracks are new
- We *might* be able to run some of the standard cars (NB mainly) Brosif is looking into this for me

I'll have exact details on all of this tomorrow. :)

@R1600 Turbo; I'm interested in joining the 2nd season! Though, I've never actually competed online before (besides GT Academy, but those are TT's lol).

When is the 2nd season, btw? Do I register?

Thanks.

I will be posting a new thread tonight, but am not taking sign ups until we are ready to start the season. That won't be for at least a few weeks.

To kill time can we do some informal practice track days or something? I can host a room most nights if everyone wants to come drive their Miata around in a group. A little more fun breaking it in that way maybe 👍

That's fine. Wait until I post the car specs up tonight though, so everyone is on the same page. :dopey:

Update on the Flyin' Miata thing, I just got an email back from Bill (the owner of FM) and we do have permission to use their name/logo. :)

Dude that's awesome! You've got a super legit second season going already.

Now... what to call it?

"Flyin' Miata Spec Championship" - FMSC

"The Flyin' Miata Super Cup" - FMSC

"Flyin' Miata Spec series championship" - FMSSC

"Flyin' Miata Spec Series " - FMSS

"Spec Miata series by Flyin' Miata" SMSFM

Holy crap thats cool. Count me in for season 2 :D Now that GTA is over for me I'm really missing the competitive feel...

And if we can use their logo I can easily sketch up a few logo wraps to give the series that extra kick of cool.

That would be awesome. I was going to do it, but I work off a netbook at home with Photoshop 7 so I'm at a little disadvantage. :P

Edit: maybe add: "A Spec Racing Series" in there somewhere. And ditch the "The" at the beginning, just put "GTP Flyin' Miata Super Cup"

Thanks dude! :D:tup:

We are all super nerds. Oh well!
