GTP WTAC Week 104: nascarlemanslmp's Choice


*** It's been a while since we had a rally challenge in the WTAC (it's long overdue!), so I'm glad that nascarlemanslmp choose this combo for us - the Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STi Version II ’95 and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GSR ’95. A Lancer versus an Impreza is one of the classic battles in GT PSP and in autoracing! ***



1. Track : Grand Canyon (forward)

IMPORTANT ! This is a combined times challenge: you'll need to run both cars; rankings will be made based on your combined times.

3. Cars specifics:

- Transmission: either
- Tires: DRT / DRT
- TCS : at your disposal
- ASM : off
- Active Steering : off
- Driving Physics : Professional

All in-game quick-tune options are at your disposal (Press Triangle when selecting your car to add the car to your favorites and tinker with any available settings).

Hybrid cars, the use of CFW tuning or any other way of cheating (such as the Action Replay for PSP) is forbidden...

4. Duration of the challenges : this challenge will start Monday May 14th 4:00 pm GMT+2 and will end Monday May 21st 3:59 pm GMT+2 (one week !)

5. Time submission :

You'll have to post your Ghost Replay Data + Photo before Monday May 21st 3:59 pm GMT+2. If you miss the deadline, your laptimes won't be in the website.

6. Rules :

You'll have to follow the Host and Compete in a GT Planet Time Attack Challenge (GTPTAC) You'll have to follow the Host and Compete in a GT Planet Time Attack Challenge (GTPTAC) ! Just to remind you :
Clean or Dirty lap :
- Colliding with or using walls, fences, cones or other obstacle is forbidden. All times submitted must be 100% wall free.
- Two wheels (except when airborne, where the vertical projection of the car onto the track counts) must be in contact with the tarmac which does not include all green/grassed/sanded/graveled areas.
- NO SPARKS! (this does not include 'bottoming' the car out on the tarmac or rumble strips; but does include walls/barriers)
Rumble/ripple strips :
- having two wheels/tires on a corner's inside rumble strips and two off track is considered unclean
- having two wheels/tires on a corner's outside rumble strips and two off track is considered clean.

I can't upload the times this week
But I will try my classic challange. This is gonna be fun wrx vs evo. Theres been some rally events in my country recently. Alot of cars were featured from modified toyota starlets to wrx's. I have also been trying different rally cars in time trial mode. Good luck

It's obvious this week's gonna be a great experiment for rally tuning set ups 👍

Cool, I had a quick go on the bus this morning and managed 3'00.xxx with the Evo III, so at least I'm in the right area!
 
There's actually a lot of room for improvement here, I'd say with more practice on the track a time around the low 2'58 range is possible, and if you're lucky with the tuning (which really needs a ton of luck to it :sly:) a time of at least 2'56 is possible. :D
 
I've only got the EVO at the moment :(

I'm on day 10 and I think I'll be able to get the Impreza at day 47 :grumpy:

You can skip days by entering into a race (you don't actually have to see the car on the track; just the menu directly before that) and then backing out. Do it once more and you've now skipped two days and a new group of auto manufacturers will be available.

Thanks, I did that last night. I was hoping that the list of manufacturers/days was correct because I had to skip to day 47. Luckily it was so, I've got the Impreza now!

Started playing around with the settings for both cars and got the following times:

GC8 ~ 2'52.9xx
Evo 3 ~ 2'53.7xx

I'm comfortable on the settings with the Impreza, though I still need to do something about the understeer on the Evo.

Started playing around with the settings for both cars and got the following times:

GC8 ~ 2'52.9xx
Evo 3 ~ 2'53.7xx

I'm comfortable on the settings with the Impreza, though I still need to do something about the understeer on the Evo.

Now that I look at it, the Impreza's more of a wild gun than the Evolution. The earlier understeer I complained about with the Evo turned out to be in part of my driving and my unfamiliarity with the track, it only took enough practice to get better times.
I think only a few ticks and I'd get the settings I'd feel comfortable with, but I'll certainly be handling both cars differently.

I can't believe that I am the first one who wanted this...
This is soooo hard to make even one clean lap... :/

I'll make submission with my 3' times today after work...
I'd rather start to getting comfortable with shelbys than go back on dirt... :scared:
