Yep, with infra-red cameras so you can see your kids in the dark! Camera on each child and the monitor switches between the two!!! Even shopping for baby stuff can be cool...

Yeah Jon, I think you took it a little far there.:sly: That is a crazy statement.

Started with Chris' earlier set-up, and then dialled out the crazy!

 Awesome. Nice splits too Jon 👍 Maybe I need to dial out the crazy - it started driving me mad last night. Having been bowling through Tertre Rouge with my eyes shut, last night I started either cutting it too early or running wide on the exit. Couldn't get the bugger to sit right... I'll try your tune and see what happens :)

What for speeds are people starting their laps at?

140ish mph give or take 2 or 3 (I think) At that speed the clock goes up too fast. 💡

Even shopping for baby stuff can be cool...

When its high-tech surveillance equipment, there may be some truth to that. Think of the fun you could have with that stuff.... you know, blackmailing the neighbours and the like. :mischievous:

Been so busy with work and now I'm only going on blimmin holiday for 10 days.... the cheek of it.

I look forward to seeing some replays of this week - In the 10 or so laps I managed I didn't even have the oil change so what's on the leaderboard is sadly as far as I got. As much fun as it was I doubt I would have ever been able to compete, holy moses this thing is tough to handle with the pad!

I will see you guys again in around a fortnight for week 33.

All the best!

Matt

Hmm, I see improvement on my previous lap all the time (by about 1.5 seconds), but it is never entirely clean. More tomorrow. :grumpy:

I'm more a fan of slow production cars and it shows in these results:

29.812
27.787
17.995
19.322
27.176

This car is simply too fast for me. Most of the time there is still enough downforce and grip available, but nonetheless, I brake, too afraid to go faster. The few times the grip is gone it's gone for good...

Nope, not my event. (How often will I be able to use that excuse?)

New splits:

T1: 28.751
T2: 26.797
T3: 18.043
T4: 18.910
T5: 26.450

Using a combo of Carlos and Vaga tunes, Vagajon1.0 I call it. I lost about .5 tenths from Indianapolis til the end on previous best lap. Got nervous and stuffed up a few brake points. It was still up by 5 tenths at the line though.

What a teeth clenching lap.

Got some work to do for sure!

I don't know what's wrong with my gears but when people post tunes up, the numbers never match up, most of the time they're impossible to copy, because the number doesn't exist... I've no idea what I'm doing wrong.

It happens pretty much every week when it involves tuning as well.

It might be because they are also tweaking on the final drive and some guys will set the transmission top speed then adjust the final drive and thats it then adjust individual gears. Another way tho is to adjust your top speed adjust the final drive and then readjust the top speed up and back down one click. Gives you two totally different gear ratios.

Hope that makes sense some people refer to it as the tranny trick the second method and there are threads about it in the tuning section.

On a strange side note the computer just drove the whole lap for me this TT. lol Dont worry hes alot slower than even me at this track.:)

Just wouldnt give me control of the car after the start of the lap.

^^^ 900, are you setting things in the correct order? From Jon's latest:

Gears, max speed 340kmh, set final drive to 3.111 and then
2.752
1.8
1.337
1.035
0.805

You need to do things in that order: set top speed at the bottom of the gears display, then set final, then set gears 1 through 5.
For something like 1.8 (above), that would mean 1.800.
Sorry if you've already tried that, I don't know what the issue is then.

Yeah I did do it in that order. The first few gears were fine but then from like 3rd onwards I just couldn't get the same numbers.

I've just had another go at it, the 3rd gear for me only goes as high as 1.303, 4th 0.899 and 5th 0.662. I've got Max speed set and Final gear at 3.111.

Reset them to default and try again.

Could be that you need to adjust final drive before the individual gears. Or vice versa.

Well, it works if I set Final gear first before Max Speed, rather than the other way.

But it's done now, thanks all 👍

EDIT: No it doesn't, now the first gear is lowest at 2.816...

This may be a stupid question, but, could needing an oil change and having lower hp affect this?

No, it's the fact that changing final drive and/or the top speed in the lower box both affect the ratios you can set for the individual transmission gears.

And you need to start from default, or from the point he started from, to get to those gears. Could be you need to move them as close as you can, then change top speed again to get them all the way there. Just keep messing with it until it provides the desired outcome.

I found the source of my problems to be your massive rear toe setting. Negative makes the rear come round, but it makes it happen all the time and I only wanted it on turn in. My car is more...lively...shall we say around the Porsche curves but I think with someone that can drive it is capable of getting into the 1'57's before Arnage. If I hook my best sectors together I should be able to manage it - like I said in an earlier post, I managed a 28.15 in T1 so I should be able to get into the 1'58's comfortably.

Tertre Rouge with my set-up isn't as comfortable as yours, but it's OK. It's one area where your rear toe setting helped, but in effect all it was doing was overcoming some of the rear downforce - I figured run the wheels straight and peel off the downforce for something that I can be more consistent in getting on the power with. I found the rear toe in your early set-up kept trying to put me into Belgium every time I got on the power out of slow corners.

I tried a 15 lap session with 55 front downforce. It's consistently 1 tenth faster through T3 and another tenth down to the turn to T4, but it loses over half a second in the last two sectors every time. If anything I want more downforce! :)

17.903

Tertre Rougue keeps sticking out like a sore thumb. :sly:
(these splits are 60/85 DF)

If it's Chris' gears,
Set Max Speed to 211mph
Then adjust Final to 3111
Adjust individual gears to:
1st 2752
2nd 1800
3rd 1337
4th 1042
5th 0835
You can check from default, by changing the top speed to 211mph, if fifth reaches 0835 and first reaches 2752 all is well, and you can do this before moving the final drive down to 3.111, or after, makes no difference.

True enough Jon - I tried a compromise between yours and mine and made some progress through the rest of the lap but sacrificed Tertre Rouge a bit, although I was quite hesitant through there on my current best lap (Just lost a faster lap by exiting instead of saving it.... not paying attention to where the cursor was :irked: )

Looking for that 0.3 I lost through Tertre Rouge and a minor mistake at the Ford Chicane.

Bloody heck Jonas - stop doing that will you? :sly: 👍 I was pleased with my T4 and 5 times but you slipped yours in while I was posting.

Teehee ;) Serves you right for calling me an alien then trying to slip in faster splits!

Since everyone's sharing I'll post up my current settings. It's Praiano's suspension settings but altered RH, rest my own setup (basically my default settings with some minor tweaks).

Will try some negative toe tomorrow to see if it helps T2 without compromising the rest.

Hmmph! :P

Interesting setup mate - you've gone the other way on the rear.... I've stiffened mine right up. I'll give yours a try tomorrow but I feel the time difference is skill rather than setup, Alien. :sly:

I gained 0.2 back in sector 2:

28.081
26.425
17.959
18.634
26.039

Similar run to the line but up only 0.1 on the lap. Not much more for me, if anything.

Edit - Started seeing 18.5s for T4 and just did my first 25.9 for T5. Not in the same lap yet but hopefully that will change over the next couple of days. Probably looking for about another 0.3 or 0.4 on the lap I think. Nailing Porsche curves pretty well and the chicane seems ok.

Some more laps but it´s really difficult just to get to the end without a crash or a spin

T2: 26.806
T3: 17.959
T4: 18.833

I've finally found 28.1 in the first sector.:dopey:

Ran a 1:57.5 to T5 once, but promptly spin a 360 in the next corner. :D

Im now using Yanarans tranny and LSD with my suspension. I love his gearing. Ive never seen that trick to set up a tranny before but boy is it slick. I tested his tune and its real nice, I went about the same OT as my tune. But when I got the idea to try his real nice gears on my suspension I was very happy with the top speed results using full downforce. The tune needs a hair of wildness knocked off and yet keep it cornering good with a great top speed. Maybe I can figure out how before the TT ends. lol

T1: 29.904
T2: 26.872
T3: 17.723

Still have half a second through T5 to chase, along with a half second or more through the finish.

If I had nailed the finish I'd probably be calling it quits for the week. :irked:

Same, Dom. I'd be calling it quits, if not for the matter of a single bollard. Bollocks!l

Back to it, eh? 👍

Top Gear SLS seasonal is kinda calling though...

Finally getting most of it sorted.:)

Still hoping for a half second I guess. :dopey:

Meh, got bored with it the first day, invisible boundaries and I don't get along. :banghead: If it were just a good old "two wheels on the proper side of the lines", I'd love it.

First splits thanks to most of yanaran's tune

T1: 29.444
T2: 27.688
T3: 18.130
T4: 19.110
T5: 26.625

I can be faster just have to get my breaking points down
