Got in a quick session this morning. Managed a slight improvement overall. Can see a few more tenths to come off.

28.142
17.377

Using 3/6 BB and ABS 1.

Thank you for the information, I have map the DS3 controller to change RA functions, and now I can adjust brake bias in arcade. Great!
Now let's see if it helps me any improve on my T1 and T2.
Front brake 3 and back brake 8 seems reverse to what I usualy do, I will give it a try.

Thank you for the tip, with the abs on, is brake bias making such a difference? I guess 1/10 without the ABS would be undrivable!

Brake Bias makes all the difference to me. Adding more rear brake bias in a front wheel drive car helps the car turn. I'm using 1/10 so I get as much of that help as possible. I tested 0/10, but the increase in braking distance negated any help in turning.

The ABS is on 10 because the car has a high center of gravity and a poor ratio of horsepower versus weight. The higher ABS means I get more help when braking and turning at the same time.

This set-up is so I can keep tire squeal to a minimum while keeping the revs as high as possible. The phrase "slow in, fast out" is really important here.

edit: I did test with ABS on both 1 and Off. With it off, it is very difficult to brake and turn. If you are not in a perfectly straight line and very careful with the downshift, it will spin instantly.

Nice job with a brown sector, Al! 👍

Chuk, thank you for the detailled explaination. I have to admit that I did not feel that much difference between ABS on 1 or 10, changing the ratio did not feel really different either. But my time improved after a while. So the car is probably reacting better, my driving is just not at the level yet to feel it.
so here we go, net progress for me, a clean lap with 1/10 ABS 10

You're welcome and congrats on the progress. 👍

edit: I forgot to mention that it's important to remember that most settings are personal preferences. What works for one driver may or may not work for another. Being comfortable in the car and confident in your set-up can get you pretty far. I'll try ideas from faster people, but if I'm not comfortable driving it, then I'll just do my own thing.
Since GT5 isn't really that accurate to real life, it's a lot of trial and error.

Didn't nail the first corner like I wanted, so still not 100% satisfied

Not 100% happy with the lap... But have hit my goal for the week! Anything more now is just a bonus!

And I thought last weeks combo was frustrating, I'll take it over this

First 20 or so laps.

Only had time to run a few laps....approaching my limit. :grumpy:

Been running BB @ 3.10...bumped it down to 2.10 for this run. :)

Really not digging this combo now.

I just cannot put together clean fast laps.

I may just not submit this week and wait to see what happens for next week.

Still trying to acclimate to my G27.

Justin

Little more before breakfast....same settings.
Lost slightly on T1, concentrating on T2. :grumpy:

First time competing in the WRS. I gather all I have to do is put splits here, and they'll show up on the leaderboard?

28.680
18.020

It also looks like I need to put some stuff in my sig... any specific format required?

You are correct.

And as far as the sig goes, if you put in your wheel or controller it will also be picked up by fetchy and displayed on the leaderboards

This is surely a dumb question, but: is a DS3 the ordinary controller that came with the PS3? I use a controller, but don't know the difference between DS3 or Sixaxis or whatever other controllers I have heard mentioned.

Welcome to WRS! Yes, DS3 is the controller supplied with the PS3. Short for Dual Shock. The original PS3s shipped with Sixaxis without the rumble feature.

Nearly ready to submit for this one, keep finding little bits of time here and there, improved my laptime today by 0.060 but with marginally worse T1 and T2 times.

Saw a 27.378 T1 and was so shocked I completely screwed up the long left hander and ruined the lap...frustrating.

I drove another session of an hour, but no improvement... I got some .3xx first splits but couldn't get the lap together. Maybe I'll run another session this weekend but I don't think I will improve much.

Exactly the same happened here :D
27.378, and than I was so  that I started braking 20m or so before the braking point

Now using BB 2-8 (ABS 1), seems to give me a better entry into turn 2 and the last one

What gear are you in through turns 2/3?

I'm staying in 3rd, only using 2nd for the last turn.

Only slight improvement but don't think I have much more left.
