Steward's Notes:
  • 3 x 30 Minute Sprint races with 3 different cars, each week a different track.
  • You choose which car to use in each race, BUT you must use all 3 cars.
  • The Overall Results at each track will be calculated using the total time raced in the 3 cars.
  • Driver points will be awarded across 3 tracks for the Championship.

In the case of a driver disconnecting after the race has started, the driver will get credit for the race but will be assigned a race time of 1sec slower than the last-place finisher. DNF's do not get credit for the race.

Eligibility

This WRS-Online event hosted by 3D3 Racing is open to GTP_Registered members only. If you are not currently on the registry run the GTP_Registry qualifier and join now!

Registration Instructions

The following must be performed by every driver for every event:
  • Click the registration button above, fill-in and submit the online registration form
  • Leave a quick note in this thread to let us know you've registered and any other comments.
The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above. You can view the official driver database here.
There is a 32 car/driver limit for this event and slots are awarded on the grid using a first come first serve basis. Reference the registered drivers table above for availability. This is a stand alone race and points are not tallied for a series. Future WRS-Online races hosted by 3D3 racing may have different driver limits and will require re-registration using the same first come first serve basis and participation in future events is optional.

Registration Changes

If you want to change your time slot, add a time slot or update your color choices just click on the registration link and fill out the form again and submit with new values. Your last entry will override any previous entries.

Cancellations

If for some reason, after you register for the event, you are unable to attend please click the registration button above and complete the form again selecting "cancel" as your status. Please also post a note in this thread as the table above can take some time to update.

Delaying or Restarting Race Start

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will only be restarted in these cases:
  • Multiple drivers report a black screen/hang, instead of the 3-2-1 countdown.
  • One or more drivers get disconnected before race-pace has begun ("GO" for grid-starts, end of formation lap for rolling starts).
  • Steward realizes there is a condition that would lead to an unfair or poor race experience.

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will explicitly NOT be restarted for:
  • Latecomers, even if you've registered
  • Driver realizes he picked the wrong car parts (ie, tires) or driving options (ie, Auto tranny)

Formation Lap

  • After the qualification time is complete a steward will record the results.
  • The system will place all drivers on the grid and begin the countdown timer.
  • Drivers should remain stopped on the grid after the countdown timer.
  • A steward will announce the starting order and drivers should proceed into a staggered formation in the order called.
  • Pole sitter will choose his/her preferred side of the track and other drivers will alternate sides.
  • There should be no overlap between cars in the staggered formation.
  • Speed limit on formation lap is 80 mph | 128 km/h and pole sitter should maintain this speed (or less) to keep pack together, in particular in the final sector.
  • Weaving or other tire warming procedures are NOT allowed during the formation lap.
  • Pole sitter will exit the last corner and take care to give enough time to allow all cars behind to safely exit the final corner.
  • Start marker is the start/finish line.
  • The pole sitter should start the race by accelerating to race pace at the identified start marker (track specific and may or may not be the start/finish line).
  • All other drivers should accelerate after the driver in front of you does so.
  • No passing is allowed before the start marker.
  • Be cautious and courteous in the first turn. Dive bombing will be penalized and will not be tolerated.

General Guidelines:
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification. This includes pit entry/exit.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track.
  • If you overrun boundaries by accident, lift momentarily to make sure you don't gain any advantage.
  • Do not complete a pass that was made possible by going outside track boundaries.

Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:
  • Unless otherwise specified, all rules from the original WRS event apply.
  • You are expected to drive clean at all times as if you are racing in the WRS. All participants are required to follow the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines.
  • 3D3 Race Stewards (who are taking part in race, but will review the replay) reserve the right to kick out or invalidate the result of any driver from the Race Room for driving offensively. If you ignore any warnings from the stewards and are kicked out of the race room, you will not be allowed to participate in future 3D3 events.
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Limit your contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Passing and Blocking: Aggressive blocking is not permitted, but the driver in front has the right to choose his/her line and braking point and drivers behind should respect that line. Be especially careful when you are on older tires than the competition as the speed difference may be significant. These events are "for fun" so just play nice and take a conservative rather than an aggressive approach when possible.
Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

may i ask?

3x30 min sprints, does that mean there will be 3 races on each track, or one race every week?

and this:

  • Vehicle Tuning: Unrestricted but no parts are to be adjusted but Brake Balance
not sure if i understand this well, better to ask, what does that mean please? :embarrassed:

Some parts have to be added to the cars, so tuning has to be unrestricted at the lobbies, but the only settings you can adjust is brake balance if I understand correctly Miro.

thank you Javier, now i think i get it

Sounds interesting... I may have to join this one. :)

Each week you will run 3 races with 3 different cars at the same track. The order you run the cars in is up to you. The next week you will do the same at a different track.

For those who didn't run the previous Triple Mix, this is buckets of fun. Cars are very evenly matched (Thanks for the hours of testing guys) but they'll be faster at some points of the track than the other two, so the races are very intense, with cars loosing ground at some points but gaining on others. The order in which you use the cars is up to you as long as you use all three of them, and that also has an effect on the outcome of the races.

FYI, since flat floors are sort of a new concept for us in WRS, we're requiring everyone to have them on all cars. They are visible looking at the rear of the car, and can't be removed outside GT Auto. They also add 15-20pp to the car when installed. Top speeds are about 6-10mph slower with them installed but the cars are more stable in the corners. The Corvette was just too much of a beast at stock weight/power, so we had to slow it down a bit. :D

Yes, I'm in, this is awesome! I love the triple mix races, its all about strategy, in what race should you use what car. Its a great concept!:)

edit:
I need a bit more clarification on this:
"Tuning: Flat floor, front aero and rear wing, Oil Change, and Brake Balance Allowed"

"Vehicle Tuning: Unrestricted but no parts are to be adjusted but Brake Balance"

So, am I allowed to install, for example, a Fully customizable suspension kit or a LSD, but just dont touch the settings on them?

cars must stay stock as from dealership, just for adding wing and flat floor and aero, there is need in lobby to be tuning turned on

No, the intention is to run this as a non-tuning/mostly-stock event like the other Triple Mixes, but since we are requiring the aero bits we have to set the room to Unrestricted. If I have to go digging in the replay to find people's settings, I will. ;)

What @Mires said. 👍

Thank you for the clarification:tup: You'll probably not be able to spot any cheating if the cheater knows what they're doing though... But I seriously doubt anyone here would resort to such actions, so its probably not needed either.:)

That's what we thought too, such a great group we've got at the moment. 👍

And while I'm in the mood for praising :), the original idea was @hasslemoff's, and this set of combos is from none other than @Sjaak.

I'm back and (hopefully) faster than ever. Hopefully I can take home a top 7 finish... (and NOT take half of the field out in turn 1):P

@Whitetail , you interested?

Had a quick go on Indy to test the cars (with standard BB), the Merc is defiantly the most stable, the Viper is deceptively fast, really strong at braking and turning in, and the 'vette is the most fun to drive, but I can't get it within .9 of the Vipers best lap...

With it not been a TT, are we allowed to talk about lap times on here?

And I'm guessing custom wheels are ok?

That's good to know, the Vette may still need a power or weight change, we'll get that finalized today.

Damn this looks like good fun. But unfortunately i can't make it. Sunday nights it's to late for me to participate. And i have to miss the 2nd race cos i'm out of town.

But man do i have some very sweet memories with that SRT on Indy. Remember Bart (@PASM)

Good luck everybody and have fun

Are we allowed to use Custom Wings? Or are we only allowed to use the standard rear wing?

Are we allowed to use Custom Wings? Or are we only allowed to use the standard rear wing?
i think there is no difference between those wings, just that you can customise it. But i am not sure, better wait for confirmation.

I too found that the viper is the fastest, about 0.8 sec faster than the SLS and 'vette. the other 2 are somewhat similar in pace, but are fast at diferent parts of the track. the SLS has superior braking, turn-in, and rotation, where as the 'vette has more traction and more power down the straight.👍

That's good to know, the Vette may still need a power or weight change, we'll get that finalized today.

I can elaborate a bit, bearing in mind I was getting a feel for the track..

I did 10 laps in the Vette and got 1'35.088..
7 laps in Viper with 1'34.004..
3 laps in the Merc got me 1'34.510, at which point I thought I might have now be taking a different line than earlier, so jumped back in the Vette, but after 7 more laps could only get 1'34.566..

Not the best testing in the world, but I was going for consistent laps, not track limit pushing laps.
