Wow, this is a bit different, always struggled big time with the rally on the GT series, give me original Colin Mcrae Rally any day haha.

Using this week to help me transition over to driving a manual, fun so far.
One thing I just can't seem to work out is how to re gain traction on this thing once it is lost, by the sounds of the engine and the way the tacho screams up I am wheel spinning in 2nd from getting back on the gas after the first turn past the bridge all the way up the hill until it is time to engage third.

just trying the abarth now,,, no idea how people are in the 24s for first split :confused:
only been about twenty minutes though.
one thing i feel a bit stupid to ask, but want to make sure.
all we can change on the abarth is the brake balance, right? it doesnt say if you can change rid the suspension though.
Doubt i will be in div2 silver, but would be very happy with that. One thing i was not good at was working out if a lap was clean or not.

It took me at least 30 laps to start getting into 24s. Watching the video in this thread helped too. Actually reading everything people said here helped.
Cats_PJs and Vagabond - please take it easy on the newcomer. I know you have answered all these questions thousand times.
 
I'm not trying to pick on the new guy, I just think it's funny because I'm sure Chris thinks he's nailed down every angle, but someone always finds something that isn't clear to them. It's also just interesting to see how many ways one sentence can be interpreted.

I hope you @Bertracer don't feel like you're being picked on, if you do I apologize. Welcome, and have fun.

This could be one week where I don't pick up in the last sector against the field.
 
I can only imagine how much faster I could have gone if I could have been able to use the adjustable trany. Sometimes 3rd just falls on it's face and the lap is toast. I do like the no adjusting weeks though because I don't see many tunes come up and I just can't figure out how to find that tune that works for me. On this little hotrod I have to listen to those little rpm changes near the end of the the power band in second until it comes out of torque mode and starts to string out then I can shift just before it hits the rev-limiter so I'm up a little bit higher to give 3rd a better chance to spool up. A real test of patience 👍
 
Can't quite make it all happen on the same lap.
Mainly the first sector. That miraculous 23.7 was some freak accident.
I have seen 50.506 T2 but stuffed it into the fence.
 
If NielsG can't use this lap you could be well in the lead. My fastest lap is actually with slower splits (around 50.9 in T2).
But there is still lots of time left. Yesterday I knocked off 4 seconds in about 50 laps.

Luckily my lap turned out to be ok. Just some unexpected track code, but @Gravitron and @Vagabond sorted it out. 👍:cheers:

But in the process I bought a new and shiny Abarth. Took it to track and cleaned up the first sector:

I did lose most of it in the second again though, and then a little more in final one. :lol: But a stunning 0.05 faster at the line. Submitted and accepted. :dopey:

But I'll be back for more. Super addictive combo. :D

I have seen a .0xx T1 and 26.7xx Sector 2 so I suppose there is about 0.3 for me to find but any more than that will require some kind of major epiphany...I'll keep looking for it and maybe a kind dirt specialist could provide some tips for others like me :D

No idea how to take that second sector, kinda got lucky on this one and it's still a little off the pace :indiff:
 
No idea what I am doing with this thing...managed to improve my lap time by 5 tenths but was only a tenth up at S2. Can't break beyond a .8 S1 or a .6 S2 and no idea what more I can do with it:

I might not be the best person to give advice but this helped me to get decent D3 splits:

I'm avoiding the grass except for the chicane
Do most of the turning while still on the bridge for the turn 2
Feather the throttle 80-90% uphill before S1 and exiting the turn after S1.
Balls to the wall through the downhill. Lift off on the last highspeed turn to get good entry for the second bridge.

@mr_lab_rat : thank you for the advice 👍. I will give it another try tomorrow.

Just had another 15 lap session trying different brake bias settings and, while I'm still way behind, I did improve my overall lap time by 1.5 seconds :eek:. Had a .4 S1 and a couple of .3 S2's....I realized I needed to brake earlier and less for T1 and get on the power earlier. I am happy with my Sector 3 and don't think I can go quicker there...it's sector 2 I need to work on but at least I have finally seen some good progress:

Off to work soon for a short 3 hour shift and will start on this straight after it :) Looks cool and dirt is always fun even if it's a slow car 👍

Took forever to get to the same times as Sunday. Still more to find, as a good first sector seems to always fail at the hairpin.

I chunked a few 23s and mid-50s, so there's still room to improve.
 
Improved my total time by exactly 2 sec for today's session. Still losing a stack load in T1 but happy with the progress I am making. Changing where I shifted from 2nd to 3rd at the top of the hill found 5 tenths, that was a light bulb moment!
Plenty left out there still. But enjoying the dirt where I previously hated it.
