Working out the particular driving style needed for the R8 bit by bit... resist the temptation to stuff it into the corners and the understeer is just about manageable...

T1 58.443
T2 1'47.005

Unfortunately this lap had a rubbish T3 though, so another 0.5 or so to come if I have the patience.

Almost the same splits as Stotty here .. 58.5 / 1'47.0

Should be close at the finish 👍

The gearing is important to a good lap time here,I've set it up with both 5 and 6 speed boxes. The uphill, as a 6 speed is faster, but as a 5 speed the 2nd half of the track is faster by about 3/4 of a second making the choices of ratios a difficult one. For me anyway.

59.453
1.48.191

BTW I have chosen the dark green. LOL

Hey Ron, any chance of posting your splits with proper 3 digits for the leaderboard, please? 👍

Hmm, had the positive/rear toe the wrong way around. She's handling even better now. Best lap so far:

59.028
1'48.506

Way too hot into the chicane and lost about 3/10ths there. Lost about 2/10ths on one of the lefties in T1.

T2 felt decent, but looking at the board I've lost some time there. Probably being on pad doesn't help through the right that just keeps on going.

Another session and a decent improvement...

T1 58.466
T2 1'46.745

T1 a bit ropey (hit a lot of low 58.3's), but a really good T2 and a solid T3 for a 0.4 improvement overall... may be my last chance to run this as lots of family stuff to do this weekend.

Settings
Ride -20, -7
Springs 4, 7
Shocks 2, 6
Toe -0.1, 0.0
Camber -2.2, -1.5
Brake 3, 7
Steering angle 38
1st 3.707
2nd 2.376
3rd 1.786
4th 1.417
5th 1.115
Final 3.663

Steering angle looks weak, but if you think you need more you're probably trying to carry too much speed... personally, I found more speed with a less aggressive driving style.

Spent 30 mins or so on this tonight, my best so far:

T1 0.59.321
T2 1.48.317

I'm loving the WRS, just i'd joined it sooner.

Matt.

Question:
Exit of hairpin, on right of track is red/white rumble, left of that green concrete and then left of that grass. I take it 2 wheels on green concrete and 2 wheels on grass is legit as intro for this event says green concrete is part of track. Am i right in thinking this or do i need to re-do my best lap?

If it says the green concrete is part of the track then it's the same as a rumble strip/tarmac. So, you're fine.

As long as you keep 2 wheels on the rumble, track, or green concrete, you are good. 👍

Surely you're,(GTP_Wanna _B) ,up for a Div 1 position soon.Your last few times have been fast as. I don't think anyone else,in the WRS,has improved the consistance of thier times as much as you!

I usally set my own cars up ,but I think I will give your,(Stotty),setup a go this arvo.

First entry:

T1: 0'58.222
T2: 1'46.590

Tried Stotty's setup first, but wasn't going that fast with it. Then found my old R8 setup from the Suz 600pp days under alot of dust and was alot faster immediately :)

Board updated. Some crazy laps coming in with those 46's :sly: nice work up there in the alien division 👍

EDIT first clean laps coming in. The R8 is not all that bad on S3's!

1'00.785
1'51.057

... using DC's excellent tune that ridded the understeer completely 👍 now what I need is to control my zigzag cornering speed keeping traction where possible. Still not sure about the brake settings. Any thoughts?

Might boot me out of D2 soon, no idea, not bothered really, i find the now finished IFTC and the ongoing WRS a good learn and nice to gauge how you are progressing against the respected big boys.

Usually I use that for every car, but for this one I'm using 6-5 :)

had a crack at this last night, still to finish the car off but from my fastest lap, not my best splits

GO AWAY! ;)

Interestingly, for my brake bias, I was using 3-8... Maybe why I am slightly unstable through the esses, which is so annoying as I can pull out 2/10ths just from the first corner, but I lose it through the damn switchers.

--------

59.205
1'48.231

I got a much better T2 than previously, but was slower through T1. I did see a 58.960 through T1 at one point, so I can get below a 1'48 for T2. Still another couple of tenths in T3 too.

First bash and I'm starting to like this wheel now. I went back to the sixaxis for a benchmark and it gave me a little hope (a little).

T1 59.497
T2 1:48.486

Some Div.5 bragging rights up for grabs here..
