Nice job everyone!

Important notices:
To streamline the WRS administration process, all required replays for this race must be submitted within 7 days. This thread will be listed as "Provisional" and will become "Official" once all posted replays have been verified. After 7 days, all drivers who fail to provide a requested replay will have their lap disqualified. (Beware: disqualification isn't taken lightly within the WRS.)
Drivers who do not have a submitted lap posted in the results are not to post any information related to a laptime they might have achieved in the results thread. Any such posts will have the times removed.

Replay Verification Requests:
This week we would like to see replays for all indicated results. All replays are to be posted here.

Instructions on how to upload your replay can be found here - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3180607&postcount=2

Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

Thanks Joost for the results.

What a week! Congrats to all who participated - the turn-out was small but the competition intense. Well done to all podium placers and division winners. Special mentions to:

Matt (Millross) - nice work mate. Our rivalry continues :sly: 👍
Wes (WGE) - Mr consistency, you really are good at these multi-lap events (winner in the Golf at Madrid over two laps for those that don't know)
MadMax for the D2 win
And finally the D3 quartet of Lucas, Kristoph, Brinkley and Tim - oh so close, great lap times and great consistency 👍 x 4!

The little Mini is certainly fun on those tyres and a challenge to get three good laps together (one that I didn't succeed in). The balance of the car really changed towards the end of lap two. My worst week yet in terms of performance against my handicap.

My laps were...

lap 1 - 42.195 (14.797, 17.224, 10.174)
lap 2 - 42.193 (14.799, 17.225, 10.169)
lap 3 - 42.505 :ouch: mother 🤬 (Splits? Who the hell cares )

Standard deviation over the first two laps was 0.0014 but dropped to 0.1796 for the three laps. My previous best had a standard deviation over the three laps of 0.0552 but the total time was a tenth slower than my submission. Will be really interested to see the consistency at the top of the table.

I was aiming for a 2'06.7xx for the three laps but just couldn't make it. The four hour session on Friday night where I ran the above also yielded a 42.205 followed by a 42.130 but I ran wide on the double apex uphill right at the start of T2. After that session, I could never get down to good times again :irked:

A great event and a great challenge this week

Congratz to all who ran/survived this week and to all the podium finishers and especially poolhas for coming out on top of the D3 scrum.

I didn’t win D3 gold, but I did win the overall USA region. :) Absolutely all the D3/42.2 club deserved to be on the podium (sorry Gravitron, but glad it wasn't me or I'd be :banghead:). Note that teecro would have joined the top 4 scrum for sure with a wheel in hand in lieu of the DS3. Over three whole laps the gap from first to fourth was only 0.075 seconds with only 0.03 between second and fourth. That’s nuts and hopee to see that on a side by side replay somewhere. :sly:

Here are my lap times w/ sector splits for the total submitted time of 2'07.013:

L1: 42.226 (14.990, 17.115, 10.121) 👍
L2: 42.358 (15.062, 17.163, 10.133)
L3: 42.429 (15.057, 17.164, 10.208) 👎

Std Dev: 0.10302 (calculate here)

So close to 2'06.XX and wish I could have kept L3 at 42.3XX. Panic trying to bank that 42.2XX got the better of me. At least I managed a PR for the full three laps with my "purple" lap included for at least some splits leader board glory. On that final lap I didn't slow the car quite enough at turn 5 and pushed a bit, setting up a sub-optimal line for the next few turns which cost me about 0.08 in T3 which was the difference between gold and silver. I would have lost a lot more had it not been for all the laps I did this week and getting a feel for how to keep the car from getting out of balance on the right/left transition after going wide... I guess my inconsistency on turn 5 all week paid off with a lot of practice recovering from that situation with minimal time damage. It's crazy that I'm fretting over the 2nd decimal point, but I guess that's what great about the WRS.

My 2nd best 3-lap run had a Std Dev = 0.03262 and all laps within 0.06, but was 0.15 slower overall without the 42.2XX lap. I'll take the higher variation and the purple lap.

I’m going to post in the morning a not so short write up about technique/line hoping to spur some discussions in that area. I enjoyed and benefited from reading Kevin's thoughts last week enough that I'm hoping to entice some technique discussion this week via that post.

Cheers! Replay attached.

WOW! Congrats all podiums and those who met their targets. 👍

Special congrats to Kristoph for his first D3 Gold! Expect a car ticket from me in the next few days to mark the occasion!

Amazing and humbling week for me. Kristoph, Tim, Brinkley: thou art worthy opponents, for sureth. Feels good knowing I was ONE HUNDREDTH away from Brinkley and SEVEN-AND-A-HALF hundredths away from poolhaas (Gold). Could have gone any way, but may the fastest man win!

I (basically) met my goal of having all 3 laps within a tenth of each other:

42.302
42.337
42.404

Standard deviation is .05183 I think.

EDIT: Great laps, Tim!!!
Times add up and match, as do the tires.

Clean laps, tires match specs, times match submission.

I thought a few times going into the final left hander you were going to go inside the rumbles but you always had a little move there to make it clearly legal. You had it up on two wheels there for some nice stills.

I think your individual lap times posted above are in reverse order. You actually got your best lap of 42.302 on lap 3. You charged at the end which will make a video replay that much more interesting. Luckily for once you came up a few hundredths short of passing me :sly:

Ohh and I love the nice dramatic crash on lap 4 to dish out a little abuse on the mini

I'd like to see your best lap replay from that 42.2 submission and compare in data analyzer to mine. You definitely had T1 wired better than I did. I made up my time in T2.

Well done to all place getters.
Competition was tight in D4, good to see boys.
Chasing Iddledoo AGAIN!!!! Missed my first D4 Gold by 0.7 ish!!!!
On to tame the Rotary at Fuji!!
Cheers All !!!

Congrats to all division winners and podiums 👍
My laps - 42.247 + 42.199 + 42.281
Was a fun combo :)
 to all

Thanks for the verify, Tim! 👍 I edited my post above with your lap's verify.

Probably imagining this, but your laps looked faster than mine. Kind of an obvious statement, but being so close in times, the difference can't really be detectable by human eyes, right? Maybe it was the style of driving or the fact that I didn't watch any replays on this track since last night.

Anyway, great week, I'm sure we'll talk about it more, but I'm headed to bed now.

Lucas, based on the speed I was crossing the start and finish line...

0.01s = 35.8cm = 14.1"

Congrats to all division winners and podiums !!

Somebody had to be last.....me!!!

I wish I would have had more than a couple of seat-sessions, but limited by the mechanical problems. :grumpy:

Wow, only 25 submitting out of 35 s[lit-posting during the week?

Summertime, and lots more things to do and places to go, I'm sure! :)

Here's my replay guys, PAL

Fantastic performance from W-g-e, very consistent laps, and im guessing his first lap is where he got me. Well done 👍

42.065
41.997
41.841

If my memory serves my correct

Crikey, tough week - I actually thought with my average (42.271) I might leapfrog a couple of people - but it seems that everyone (cept Jon (Sorry Jon!)) ran amazingly consistent laps, so...wow. I managed to post a fastest-sector too which is another first and pretty cool with a control pad :)

Jon - you should have thrashed me really with those first two laps and I'm sure you know it :)

Well done madmax for the win in my division & zubski for a great podium - and Philip too - way too good for most of us I think :)

Congrats Wes for the overall win - Wes is the multilap king it seems, great run by TwistedMetal too though - gave Wes some competition unlike the Golf GTI event :)

D3 was amazing in terms of competition this week too - probably the biggest level of "stepping up" for quite a long time - reminds me of a few months back actually - I was just glad in the end that I managed to beat you all :nervous::nervous::scared:

Unfortunately, only 25 submissions is a little disappointing...the competition is still fierce though but it's a bit of a shame we're tailing off so much - come back everyone! come back!

The world is full of should haves and could haves, but its what you do on the day that counts my friend - nice job :)

PS. I'm going to be doing my best to return the compliment this week though :sly:

Congrats to all the winners and podiums. 👍

Well done to Wes for the overall win. He's away on vacation and asked me to post this up for him. First time I've gotten to post a replay that's the overall win. ;)

Seems that a 3 lap race is not the way to go if I want to maximize turnout. :ouch:

We've got some things in the works that we hope will re-energize the registry membership base. More to come............

JBrinkley and Gravitron killed it for the most part in T1 whereas Poolhaas and I made up time in T2. I'm trying to wrap up the write up of my approach and curious to see how our lines through T1 & T2's differed -- seemingly it was significant.

Guess I was the rabbit (as usual) and was getting run down fast at the end (as usual). I'm glad the finish line wasn't 20 meters further down the straight :dopey:

EDIT: I have no video capture capability so this is the best I could do to visualize the race for the podium in D3.

WRS_Week21_D3_GapChart-2.jpg

Looks like a dead heat between myself, JB, and Gravitron after Lap 2, Sector 1 with poolhaas almost 0.25 behind. JB took the lead with a great Sector 1 of Lap 3. A minor slip by JB on L3-S2 opened the door for both myself and poolhaas to sneak past and poolhaas closed the deal with a nice clean pass by me in the final sector with JB and Gravitron closing fast for a 2-3-4 photo finish at the line.

Ohh, if only we could engineer that photo finish -- would look really cool.

:ill: Can't believe I actually won this division but wow this is super close guys 👍, I had so much fun this week and put alot of laps in it aswell.

Lucas, hope you're not feeling too bad that .010 secs cost you a podium, it might be a short lap but that's close to nothing.
Thanks for the mentions guys and congrats to all other division winners and podiums

Nice Chart Tim, here are my times

Not feeling bad at all! (despite my screaming at the end of the Event thread about JBrinkley's rocks he dropped :embarrassed:)
Given his general faster-than-us performances, I'm glad we were able to make him work hard, prior to his more-than-likely promotion to D2 (any day now, once Week 20 is complete, I'd think).

20/20 hindsight tells me I should have run more laps on Sunday instead of feeling content and moving on to the Fuji/RX7 combo early. :dunce:

@Tim: great graph, it really helps to see it like that, can't wait for poolhaas' data to be added. I'll send you my 42.221 (IIRC) best lap replay in a PM.

@Jon: thanks for the nice words for us outside your D2 div, you always have the best wrap-up/congrats posts in the Results threads. 👍

I tried to run again Sunday night and I just couldn't do it. I figured I probably needed a more consistent 3rd lap, but knew I was done when I started having fun running the mini into the wall.

I added poolhaas to the chart.

It's great to see that chart, my not so good first lap has me dangling down for a while :)

I take solace in having the best slowest-lap (42.404). :dunce::rolleyes:

Every time I got a 42.2xx though, the other 2 laps were crap.

We really should get together in an online lobby and play. I don't think I'll have time for that till the weekend, but not sure that works with Tim's upcoming vacation...

Also itching to see how we all could have been more ET-like and break into the 42.1xx's. Any D3'ers see a 42.1xx or better (submitted laps or not)?
I bet Wes or Twissy's laps either have a TON of smoke, or none at all.

Lucas

My lowest was a 42.267 It would've been my submitted time if on the 3rd lap I didn't get too aggressive and go a hair off track.

Congrats to the winners and great times! I thought my .15 spread would be among the tightest of all, guess you can't take anything for granted around here. :)

L1: 42.050 (14.856, 17.109, 10.085)
L2: 42.197 (14.886, 17.204, 10.107)
L3: 42.105 (14.924, 17.101, 10.080)

Lap 1 was my fastest lap of all. I made a small mistake at turn 5 on lap 2 but managed to get back on pace. Lap 3 was my third fastest lap. I turned the wheel a little to hard in turn 2 otherwise almost identical to lap 1, making the combo my fastest by over 2 tenths.

Congrats to all division winners and podiums 👍

Special word for wes for the overall win, who is know for is consistency :sly:, but also to Twissy for giving a fight (last time, at Madrid, the second place was a full second behind).

On D2, Mad Max (what´s got in to you) Philip (that garden :sly:) and for Zubski, nice first week.

Mat and Jon :dopey: great fight, but still managed some microseconds
noshog - got me there 👍

My Laps:
42,222
42,309
42,255

And finally a word to D3 - just to say you all made this week interesting and this thread alive
WRP - that chart is something 👍

EDK and the rest of WRS, thank you for you efforts, and bring on the news, because is a pity to see so little submissions :nervous:

We really should get together in an online lobby and play. I don't think I'll have time for that till the weekend, but not sure that works with Tim's upcoming vacation...

Also itching to see how we all could have been more ET-like and break into the 42.1xx's. Any D3'ers see a 42.1xx or better (submitted laps or not)?

Would love to do a live race on the combo, but I only have until Friday night with my PS3. I tried a race with it just in arcade mode and it handled pretty weird the first lap and different from the time trial it seems. Probably would be totally different online. Maybe that's just because I couldn't follow my line with the pesky traffic in the way, as it seemed to come together on lap 2 & 3 a bit more as traffic cleared.

Never saw 42.1XX as my posted split of 42.226 from my 3-lap submission was my overall best single lap. Guess that's why I tightened up so much on lap 3 (and I really did tighten up). I could feel it and couldn't get myself to just relax and drive. Rookie!!!

Combine your/JB's S1 with Poolhas/My S2 and I think you've got your 42.1xx or maybe even high 42.0xx. Even though that's cheating, I think 42.0XX was possible with the approach I/we were using, but required almost perfect execution. 41.9XX or better is a different story.

I haven't been online in some time, actually last months I've only played WRS and some seasonals to collect some cars.

Bought some new games, sooo.
