Well I must admit after the first session with this combo, I turned it off in a rage quit:dopey: 2 hours passed and I hadn't even broken the 58.5xx barrier and I was literally bewildered and puzzled by the nature of the combo. But persistance proved the key in this one, especially without no ghost reference to help calculate the limit. A very important corner that took me a while to figure out was the one leading to T1, you need to not even try and go for the apex, and in my best lap I actually missed it by 30+ cm's.

Congrats to Wes for showing us the way for the most part with a wicked sub 58 T1 that remained unchallenged for an eternity:tup: And your final time isn't too bad either:tup:

Dodgy quality, but at least it's semi watchable.

Congratz to all the podium finishers.

D3 shout outs..

@Stanley: Thought you had me bumped off the podium with that late T1 split... had me worried. Nice drive. How you (and others) managed with a DS3 in the rain I can't understand.

thxs I wasnt really counting on much this week.. I enjoyed this weeks combo but couldnt get to grips with the wet, if felt more like ice using a DS3.

I was just hoping I might scrape a podium but wasn't to be..

as always astonishing times in D1..

well done to D3 guys ill try make things more tight for nextweeks combo & thxs to all the guys that make this possible each week

Congrats Markwebber on the overall win 👍 some serious times there in D1

And good job T13R for taking the top spot in D3, amazing time there.
Tim, good to see you coming back with a silver spot 👍 although I can see it was a close one between you and Lucas.
I'll see you guys back up there next week :sly:

Thanks Dan, by looking at your replay I can see what I did wrong in the last sector. I thought you would lose traction by going on the grass at the left side on entry to the first corner of T2, but it seems like you didn't lose traction. I guess you shouldn't assume things to soon in GT5.:dopey:

Here's my replay:

Thanks Peter, will see your replay tonight and that mad handbrake :dopey:

MadMax 👍 whish my last sessions would make me won 5 times in a row:bowdown:

Good to go Lucas!!!

Man that was a :nervous: T1!

Visual specs/time correct.

Thanks for the quick check, Dan. Sorry for not saying up-front, "You'll need photo mode for a couple spots!" 👍

Dodgy quality, but at least it's semi watchable.

Man I love the way you can flow out onto the "wet" grass on the exit of corners (or even entry in one case) and stay as cool as a cucumber, taking your sweet time to let the car settle and then getting back on track nice and easy... Seems like my car touched grass and just went spiral on me so I stuck to more tarmac, but now I believe it was my "rush" to force the car back on tarmac that caused some problems.

Seeing you go through the "s" turns in T1 makes me wonder how come I always got so bogged down through there. Nice. I'll have to watch several times to figure out where I went wrong.

Cheers and thanks for sharing the video.

@Hydro -- appeal to the admins for a correction... Don't know if there is a precedent or not for this type of mistake (must have happened at least once before). They have record of when you sent the PM and the time so maybe there is hope... don't know, but worth a shot.

Thanks for the advice, But it's ok. It's my mistake after all.
Plus, I should have included in my post that my lap is not a podium lap for D3 (just updated that post as well). At best I would have placed fifth (.945) behind Stanley1664 which is fitting seeing as he repeatedly thrashed me in the OMRS that was on Saturday (ok, everyone did :D).

It's really more to just keep track of progress week to week.
Regardless, I'll be sure to remove the lap time in case I don't submit this week.

The irony is that this wound up being the most attempted event for me so far, as I hadn't done the wet events at Nur before. Heck, it took me about 25 attempts to get Bronze! (20 of them being restarts :yuck:)
I've decided the only fitting punishment for my poor administration skills is to Gold all of the SL wet events. 👍
See you all in a few weeks!

well done to D3 guys ill try make things more tight for nextweeks combo & thxs to all the guys that make this possible each week
Ditto!

Nice clean lap and times match. Not using all of the cobbles, there were no close calls anywhere in the run requiring photo mode (thanks). You pretty much took the same line as me, but you definitely nailed the final S before the end of T1 better and that made a difference in both T1 (+0.18) and T2 (+0.06). Shows me what was possible with the line I was taking if I had executed slightly better in a couple spots. I think more grass/cobbles necessary to take it to the next level obviously (I knew cobbles were in play, but just couldn't avoid spin outs when using them to the fullest).

I've decided the only fitting punishment for my poor administration skills is to Gold all of the SL wet events.

Highly recommend doing that now when you are in the flow of the rain/car... I did that Sunday night after burning out on Sector 1 and it was a blast.

@Gravitron: I watched your replay and can't figure out where you gained so much in T1 and lost in T2. Maybe the last slow right in T2 I might have nailed a bit earlier, but otherwise the corner speeds seem to be pretty close... Hard to tell for sure without the data analyzer, but nice lap. I did notice you shifted to 4th gear before the fast right in T1... never tried that and always shifted to 4th on the exit straight near the cobbles.... maybe my exit from 1 was bad because I didn't feel 4th was warranted there. It'll be interesting to compare speeds side by side through that section to see what impact that had. Just re-watched 01GTP's replay and he also got into 4th and stayed through that turn so I must have mucked that one up.

Thanks for approving my lap. 👍

I found by staying in a higher (4th) gear the ass end was not trying to pass me.
Whether it's faster or not was not my worry, it was just easier to control.
At times I was on the gas and brakes at the same time like I was driving an MR car, but again found this easier to control.
Like Wes said, watch the video, Dan stays in 3rd.

Thanks/wow, I did watch "said" replay several times before but missed that section in my wide eyed state  Dan stayed in 3rd (and stayed in 3rd) forever! I shifted to fourth on the limiter for the most part except the entry to that one corner.

I wish I could convert from km/h to mph in real time on the fly in my head so I could understand what was going on in that lap

Thank you for checking.

Even thought I'm not driving at the ultimate limit , I try to stay as close to the limits as possible.

Congrats to all division winners and podiums, was another fun and challenging week. I was afraid I didn't extract as much as I could in T2, but it looks like it was pretty good after all, I just wish I could have had my 58.9 T1 stick to go sub 1'43, but it wasn't meant to be. I was fully expecting 1'41s to win it, so well done to Dan for an awesome and crazy time!

Great driving! With a DS3 no less? D3
Great lines. All I could really tell (from watching D1 vids) is that the speed through the "s" turns before T1 was a bit lower, and a little - very little- lower through Flugplatz.
Awesome run. 👍
Scary that you are in my division :D

Thanks for the nice comments and for reviewing my lap Hydro! Nice to see another Canadian in the WRS, we aren't very many. 👍

@DDiamond: Holy crap you're fast at setting up those 3-way videos! Really great to see them

Thanks Dan. Great video. 👍 My first appearance in one of these and really cool to see my lap side by side with a couple others.

I can clearly see T13R speeding away from the get go and basically increasing lead through the entire run. Nothing magic, just better driving.

And I can see where I made up all the lost time against Gravitron on the final two turns where I had about 4-5 mph edge there (min speed) on both turns.

Hard to tell on T1 where I lost time to Gravitron as his time is out of synch by about 0.3, but by the time we get to T1 marker we're even (inspite of his time being faster).

EDIT: After a further look I can see I lost almost all of it on the first "s" in T1 slowing down too early. Gravitron basically made up the 0.3 right there and we were almost in a dead heat (on the video) until the final two corners. Maybe I got a slightly better jump off the final "s" leading to the T1 marker... hard to tell for sure.

Man, I'm only finding a few mins a day to be on GT5 or GTP this week, with family visiting, so thanks for all the help with the analysis and such. Wonderful to be included in the video, thanks Dan!

Tim, if it was indeed the final two corners I'd beleive it. I was such in the "restart" habit that those 2 got less practice than the rest!

EDIT: T2's (apologies for any mistakes!):

I knew my first corner in T2 would come back to haunt me.
Neat list Gravitron.

Thanks Lucas. I took your table and created a little visual out of it...

WRSWeek26-3.jpg

Of course all of these T2 splits are subject to the LB T1 split being from the same lap as the final submission -- seems like a few outliers where that might not be the case. I can correct if anyone wants to PM me a T1 split that's different from the above chart.

I think I know MadMax86's T1, which is 58.618. He posted it in the thread in the last 15 minutes before the deadline, so fetchbot didn't update it. If it really matters.

Well no it doesn't really matter, but it's fun anyway. I updated the splits and also added a T2-delta which shows how many positions were gained by a driver in T2 after the T1 split.

I'm sorry, that sounded a bit rude.:guilty:
I do like the analysis, great job.👍

I didn't think it was rude and didn't mean to imply that in my response... the final results "matter" and the rest is just a D3 guy (or 2 if you include Lucas) with a little time on their hands :)

All good. 👍

I should be spending my time on this weeks combo... now that matters

Pretty amazing times there 👍 I didn't even think sub 1'43 was possible, never mind 1'41.xxx

I thought you had a 41.4 Dan, stunning time. Well done Wes as well for showing you're not at all far from the ultimate pace. 👍
