My replay. I'm afraid, Biffy :(
Bad end for a very good battle. Didn't you read about me checkin my own lap for half an hour? :nervous:

I checked back through the discussion thread and only just seen that you edited your post to say that, so no. And it seems I also missed the post about mirror contact earlier in the thread, which I'm not going to use as an excuse for submitting a dirty lap, but if I had known and saw that then I probably wouldn't have submitted that lap.

The data-logger really stuck the nail in though, I assumed that with there being no drop or alternation in speed, contact wasn't actually made therefore it was clean. Wrong I know now of course, but my understanding of the rule previously stated in here was that the walls that actually have an effect on the car are dirty. I also had it on my mind to clarify with mods, but because of above reasons and the fact I really had no time to take pictures and post them on the forums, especially as this week is an exam week for me and I've been splitting my time between this and revision. Lame excuses aside, I do understand why it was red-flagged and I accept the decision. I just feel quite bad with two red flags already. The first one was warranted, no doubt about that, but this I'm just disappointed with.

Despite this, I am not arguing the decision, but I am curious to know why the picture that Carlos posted up..

Kev was quite clear in wk46 that people should only submit times and post replays that they are certain are clean. If in doubt consider it dirty, but as Biffy has stated, he was certain it was clean. Definately one for the admins.

May or may not help in relation to this from week 7...

..got accepted when mine wasn't, even though the mirror is further into the wall?

As I remember, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that picture received a lot of attention at the time. The Mods did finally accept it, though not without a warning.
The picture was also used as a training tool. We had a lot of new drivers who were reviewing replays for the first time, so the data logger was brought up.
The basic point is that the driver is responsible for any submitted lap, and if a checker finds it to be dirty, then it's a red flag. If the Mods think that it was obviously dirty, then they may act. So the warning at the time was to be very careful with your submitted laps!
So, to answer your question, that particular picture was kind of a freebie. I do feel bad for you, Biffy. I don't think you tried to cheat. On the other hand, now you know how serious the issue of a clean lap is. That has been the main feature of this series since I first joined years ago. And yes, there will always be those who feel the leaderboard should ONLY be used for the splits of whatever lap you intend to submit, and no other splits should be posted.
I personally don't care what anyone else does with the leaderboard, but I've always been one to side with being overly clean with submitted laps. I've lost races because of it, but I've never gotten a red flag. At least that I remember, maybe in the first couple of weeks of GT4, but I doubt it.
Anyway, it's time for me to race in 3D3. Keep going, Biffy! 👍

Racing On!

Rules have changed a lot since Week 7 you know..?

I haven't been here that long, so how could I know? Common sense dictates that there have been changes made, but I can't exactly pick up on them so simply.

Check my join date, I'm 99% sure I joined GTP much after you did and I'm informed about all happenings in GT5 WRS. 👍

Still can't get complete folders to my PS3. When trying to copy I get the "no titles" message even though the folders are present. :grumpy:

Think I might try a different zip program. 💡

7zip and winrar have worked much better than the default windows zip stuff, for me and many others. Before removing the usb drive from the PC, also look inside the copied BC...-RPL folder to make sure the files made it over.

Yeah I've checked the byte count on the files before heading to the PS3. It's all good at that point. When I read the folders on the PS3 end there are zero bytes in the folders.

I'm going to give 7zip a try. I've seen it recommended in other threads as well.

Thanks. 👍

Thanks Chuk, you're right, I'll have to be a lot more careful in the future.

Doesn't necessarily mean I follow everything that happens in the WRS.

I joined December 2010. Spent a few weeks in WSGTC and then up until the Summer I didn't really come on the site much. Came back properly around July, joined WSGTC again, and then progressively joined other series as well. In August I joined the WRS, participated in a few combos but then buggered off back to the Racing Series section. Until last month that was pretty much the only section I spent my time in, all others including the WRS one I hardly went into.

Now can you see why I don't know all the latest news in WRS? I don't spend all my time in one place.

I like to think that enough energy has been spent on this issue. The relationship between photo mode and the data logger will always be an evolving process, especially since PD keeps sending updates. I hope everyone sees the importance of submitting a clean lap, and also realizes that there will be someone checking that lap VERY closely.
But in the end, we are supposed to enjoy being here. Be nice to each other. Life is too short. It's time to move on.

Lots of questions came up in the race thread during the week about what would be considered clean or dirty. Specifically related to mirrors, I made this post here -

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6465308#post6465308

Ultimately, anything as close as this one is a judgement call. I'm concerned that the data logger becomes less of a factor in a rally event on a snow track, and we do have visual evidence of your car hitting an object, something that's forbidden in the rules.

We do everything we can to remain consistent with our rules and rulings. Because some rules and circumstances may vary from week to week, it's always important to keep a close eye on the race discussion, and if you DO have something that's an extremely close call, get a pic of it and ask us to give an opinion, BEFORE you submit.

Rules have changed a lot since Week 7 you know..?

Edit:
+1 Chuk

Not sure why you find the need to keep throwing yourself in the middle of this and calling Biffy out.

You need to just let it go. He made a mistake. You might do the same in the future. And if you do, I'm sure you would appreciate if your fellow members would not berate you for it, and attempt to flaunt their perceived superiority.

Nice lap Blair, and congratulations! Times match, and everything looks clean!👍

Thanks for reviewing Joe.

And congrats to you on your podium finish.👍

Unlucky Biffy, happens to us all at some time eventually... keep your chin up mate and you will come back stronger and sharper next showing 👍

I'm kind of sad for Biff in that he got blind sided by the inadequacies of the shortfalls of the game. I work in wire frames using Autocad so I know how difficult it is to durive what is call an interferience fit, it is sometimes difficult to tell if two solids will collide before they do even when you are given all the dynamic data ahead of time.

All PD would have to do is give us frame by frame and these issues would be simple but they think that we need more helmets and uniforms, pure rubbish. I just hate to see anything positive by something so borderline when these issues cut so deep.

Stif upper lip Biff 👍

Sorry guys forgot to upload my replay today. I will take care of it in the morning.

Proper, renamed back, replay. Sorry for the previous one, this one should work.

I suggest you use this as folder name for GTP_Art's replay: BCES00569-RPL003
;)

Your left front tire touched the snow wall in the second corner of sector three. Your speed dropped from 66 km/h to 61 km/h.

Proper, renamed back, replay. Sorry for the previous one, this one should work.
Sorry, Art. Your lap already have been checked. Also Speedy let me know that in one of the files there is actual filename... a bit hidden.

Haha , you want to know how I could get it right from the first time?

Well, quite simple actually.
If you go to the results in the leaderboard and click on the 'replay needs verifying' icon all the way on the right side.

Now you come on the next screen seeing this info. (Using GTP_Art's now.)

Christophe, you're so "worldly" now. Congrats on the PAL/NTSC swap with Marc.

Thanks Lucas.
Now I can begin catching up on the Podium vids. ;)
