- Invalid use of driving aids (countersteer assist is active)

I appear to missed that. Apologies.

Edit: Hopefully the above works but I'll monitor and update the board if Fetchy doesn't do it for us

Because I'm an idiot and shared a replay with the same tags as this weeks TT when I should not have used the tags as the replay was not for my posted lap I wonder if someone could do me a huge favour and verify the correct one for me? I know it's not really necessary as I don't need to submit a replay but I feel pretty stupid and would really appreciate if my posted time could be verified just to close down any doubt.

The correct replay has a comment that says "Replay 4 submitted lap"

Thanks in advance and apologies to all for my error

Hmm, probably my bad. Just checked that replay. Green and clean, splits check out, no illegal aids, all good....
BUT: it is the replay with "Replay 4 submitted lap" as comment, the final time on live timing reads 1:56.392, your leaderboard finial time reads 1:56.547. Did I misunderstand?

Edit: just to double check myself I just did the exercise again, saw the other replay as well with your comment "please don't verify...." etc. So considering the splits being in line I believe I looked at the right replay as per above final time ending on 392. Maybe I just missed some info earlier in this thread and that was the whole point of this. Nice lap!!!

OMG I'm going back to bed to start the day again I actually managed to share the same incorrect lap again :banghead:.....I'm sorry but I have now submitted the real lap. that is the .547 time as per the board

Nice lap Mike! Clean, no questionable situations whatsoever. Right tires, all assists good, final time checks out now at .547
But now, as I obviously am not fully in the picture of preceeding story here one FAT question: why did you submitt this time and not the faster .392 lap? Pleeeeaaase don't let the answer be that the .392 lap is actually not clean and I missed it :scared: ... would really worry me and have me rethink my varifying thoroughness....

Ren

Thank you so much for having the patience to deal with my stupidity and for the verification

Edit: I didn't check the faster replay but thought is was really close to being dirty so decided to play safe. Since submission I've looked and it's absolutely fine...ho hum ;)

Just watched Icemans replay, fantastic lap:bowdown:

Seems I have a lot to learn when it comes to gear selection, I used 3rd for most corners and never went down to 2nd. Surely that is costing me time.

I was surprised to see him drop down to second for turn 1, but even more surprised to see him go to 3rd gear for the left in sector 2 (I was taking this one in 4th). Every now and then I'd accidentally drop down to 3rd for that turn and I'd lose a ton of time because of it.

But didn't his gearing and shift points also seem quite a bit different? That's what I observed.

Be interesting to hear his views on it, maybe he was using slightly different gearing
Might have to give this week a miss, I only have 100k

I copied doodle's gearing exactly as far as I recall, I can check once I get back to my hotel tonight. Originally I was using 3rd for the first turn and hairpin at T2, but saw immediate improvements using 2nd gear, and the shorter 3rd in doodle's gearing. For the two turns after T1, I did try those in 4th but the blip down to third seemed to reduce annoying understeer there when you get back on the throttle. The car shifts fast enough where the upshifts really aren't a time loss.

This is the gearing I was using, directly from doodle's post:

Transmission:
Reset to default
Final gear to 5.500
Top Speed to 112mph
1st: 2.803
2nd: 2.077
3rd: 1.662
4th: 1.428
5th: 1.218
6th: 1.075
Final: 3.930

If you watch his lap we use the same gear choice except for the right hander before the left-hand sweeper in T1, likely due to the more pronounced out-in-out line he uses there which carries a bit more speed.

What is 'blip' and how can I get some of that sweet reduction of annoying understeer?

Blip is probably a misnomer here, but I think in general cars in GTS will rotate better under a no-throttle condition while in a lower gear. I first noticed it when watching Ron's lap @ Kyoto, I couldn't figure out why he was going into 2nd for the hairpin just before T2 (T3?) when he shifted to 3rd before actually opening the throttle. It finally clicked when watching some Orma_snow/doodle/IOF streams where they would drop into an "unused" gear in low speed situations. 2nd was actually used here in the hairpins (and 3rd vs 4th in T2) for some portion of throttle application, but it really feels like the car rotated much easier when in the lower gear. I don't think it would work with a car that has a very long shift time, but in race cars like this it seems like the way to go. Maybe it's all a placebo - or maybe this is common knowledge, but I haven't played a GT game since GT4 so I'm still learning all the little "tricks". Back then it was modulating the brake while keeping the gas floored.

Well spotted Iceman and yes I am guilty of that little quirk on occasion dropping the gear for a blip whilst coasting.. I actually do it in many cars as it seems to help with rotation and turn in, It looks stupid watching it back in replay but for me it actually helps me put the car where I want it to be mid turn... placebo or not it's habitual now 👍

In the Kyoto lap in the Evo I think I done it 3 times.. turn 1.. turn before T2 and the turn before T3
