Great job everyone, nice to see WRSr's have such a strong showing.

I'm quite disappointed with my effort, spent too much time on this to come out with a positive handicap. Never got the lap I know I'm capable of.

Great job everyone! I am positive that I could not have done any better with this car. Disappointed with my handicap this week and I will not miss the cones!

Good luck to all that advanced on to the next round of GTA! We are all cheering for you! My replay is attached.

Al

Man! Don't you guys like this game?

Gold Medals: 40
Total Mileage: 3,492.2
Total Retries: 5,384

All that just to get in the group of 62 world wide for players in Top 5000 in EVERY challenge.

Oh, and Lefty if your close to San Diego, head on down there and go for the Racer X slot. Direct from GTPlanet:

If you didn’t make it into the top 32 moving forward in the competition, you still have one more chance: Sony and Nissan will be hosting a special wildcard challenge to find “Racer X”, a 33rd finalist who will join the competition and compete directly with the other finalists.

Racer X will be determined via a time-trial challenge held at the Oasis Bar inside the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego on Thursday, July 12th from 10:00am to 4:00pm PST. Eligible players will need to arrive and register at the event as early as possible to secure their chance for a hot lap.

As if a spot in the GT Academy finals wasn’t enough, Racer X will also be awarded a special-edition HumanRacing GT Chassis racing seat, complete with a Thrustmaster T500RS steering wheel and pedal set, as pictured below
.

I'll be pulling for you and or any other WRS guys that can go for it.

Oh, and one more thing. Motegi is a whole lot funner with out all those damn blue cones!!!:)

Just ducking in....

Jon! Looking forward to when you're all set up!

Spent about the same as a usual decent week for me - 3-4 solid sessions. Probably not enough this week... (I'm not one of the reach-limit-quickly folk).

Gold Trophies: 40
Total Mileage: 2043.5km
Total Retries: 1412

A fair amount of that would have been in some of the other rounds - I actually liked a fair few.

I would have liked to have reached target - a high 31.9 or a 32.0xx, but I never got settled down in T1, so my success rate there was just too low, and it was also hurting T2 to some extent (last turn was also a great way to lose a lap, but I don't think that was going to change much for me - perhaps a little less variance).

Many folks to congratulate this week - Wes, RackAttack, Reese way,way up there, solid results from many. to Lucas (you are one determined dude) and Shawn for pouring it on!

Thanks to the team, and Kaz & co for the combo....

A comment on the HC results - if one person put in a super-human effort in a normal week, then that would likely be reflected in an outstanding HC result. However, if EVERYONE put in a superhuman effort, then the relative balance between the drivers stays the same (the bar just gets adjusted upwards).
...

Disagree with this.
On Div1 this will work.
Div2 will already have a different effect:
* people that have a lot of experience should just adjust the bar.
* people that lack experience, but have talent, will over perform. Their lack of experience being compensated by the many tries.
Div 3/4/5 this effect should be amplified.

So on an abnormal week you get some abnormal results.

Hi folks!

Well done everyone. I sort of expected to be a bit below par on this. I never really enjoyed Motegi in GT4. Here's my stats.

Golds: 40
Miles: 1,100.0
Retries: 1283

A lot of the retries were on earlier rounds as I spent a long time on some of them.

GOLD - 40
Total Mileage: 2,362.9
Total Retries: 2296

Rounds 1-6 I spent about 30mins - 1hour on each one, round 7 and 8 I just golded and got to 8-5. Then spent about about 2-3 hours a day for a week on 8-5, that was mainly because I knew I couldn't play the 2nd week :P but overall enjoyed doing all the TT's on GTA.
Again I've no replay for my lap, I could post a slighty slower one if it is of any use for the podium video.

GOLD - 40
Total Mileage: 2749.8 km
Total Retries: 1262

(this would only be on 8-5)

here is my PAL replay ;

Stats (yes, they're low but I had to rush through the events to get to 8-5):

Gold Trophies: 40
Total Mileage: 92.7 Miles
Total Retries: 101

And the replay for Speedy:

How close is your other replay? If it's off by more than a tenth or so I may have an alternative method to get you in the podium replay vid.

0.02 slower, It's a 1'31.68 ( can't remember excat time right now). I understand if it's not possible to get me on the video, I should of saved the replay :ouch:.

OK, then just post that one 👍
Easily close enough for our purposes.

Where can I find my information?

Hit X on game save data and it will show all your save files, then highlight gta save and it will give your details.

Oh, and Lefty if your close to San Diego, head on down there and go for the Racer X slot. Direct from GTPlanet:

I have been wanting to take a short vacation for some time, thankz for the heads up :) I went over to the news area and found the story. I'll look into it, San Diago is about a 12+ hr drive from No. Cal where I live. The comic con deal might be a trip down the rabbit hole from what I've seen but that even might be some kind of fun. Sounds like it is doable and could be fun 👍

Lefty, Comic cons are hysterical - and I've only been to the Toronto ones which pale in comparison to the San Diego one.
That's quite a drive, but the one-two punch of the GT Academy Wildcard and Comic con should make it very worth while.
If you go, good luck 👍

Edit: I googled "LoomRock CA" and you were the No.1 google result
Where the heck is LoomRock? Being ~12 hours away from SD I assumed you were near(ish) to Redding or something (in a vague geographical sense ;))

Majority of those were 8-5, just like most people.

Congrats to all who submitted, not sure why more people didn't submit their time, but I guess 40 total isn't too bad. :)

Thanks for the mention, Ren, Great job on your part too. 👍

Would be nice to see the D1 guys stats, so we can know how time must be expend in order to get to the GTA Finals. 👍

I'd be willing to bet that finishing position in GTA is more highly correlated to driver skill level than it is to time invested.

It certainly would be "fun" to have all the numbers and run a regression model to see. Of course measuring skill level would be tough... you could restrict observations to GTP_Registry members only and use handicaps as a proxy for skill (those are certainly correlated). That would be an interesting term paper for an industrious economics undergraduate student. :sly:
