My first 10 lap spell on this combo and here are the sideways results.
t1: 23.330
t2: 43.569

quite shocking but LOADS of improvement possible.

Braking while turning into turn one has 100 times out of 100 lead to the tail coming out for me so I've braked in a straight line and then downshifted to fourth and engine braked through the first turn and then a gentle trail brake and downshift to third into turn two. Apex speed in turn two is slightly less than 90 kph. Third all through the esses and pretty much all the way to teh finish line

Take an early apex by aiming for the rumble at about the 3rd light pole after the painted pavement circles end, if that makes any sense at all. :dopey: as Stotty said, light baking with gentle turn in helps. With the early apex, you can take a liberal amount of rumble, and use the downshift to 3rd to help gradually reduce momentum while carrying toward the back rumble. Turn in for the second apex is more braking than steering, if you get it right you should be able to mash the throttle without running off the outside rumble, but will definitely end up with 2 wheels solidly on it.

Hope that helps. :)

T1: 22.160
T2: 41.667

EDIT:

T1: 22.210
T2: 41.733

Slower splits, but now a whole tenth better at the line. And I just saw a .141 T1

All the best
Maz

Thanks guys for the pointers. And I'm sorry Kevin, there really should be a law against posting faster splits than the person who helped you achieve them but what can I do.

22.337
42.148

Never a problem. If my technical knowledge outpaces my execution, I guess it comes down to the old adage of, "Those who can't, coach". I can live with that. 👍

I'm so far off pace this week compared to the rest of D2. I'd probably attribute that to not having a wheel and the car being on N1 tires.

T1: 22.755
T2: 42.554

Still can't get out of the final turn like I did once before.

Having not played GT with my new wheel at all really I thought I'd just post some splits up anyway.
T1: 23.052
T2: 43.488
Probably bottom of the pile.
Can't be bothered doing any more laps today and I'm not sure if I will tomorrow and I'm not really keen on the combo.
👍

They look like good times considering you have just changed over to your DFGT, I think your doing well just to keep this combo on the track, well done mate 10 / 10 for that. 👍

I may not be doing any more on this too, as I've got the brake light flicker back again, I did a few laps this morning and was wondering why i was getting no where near my ghost, till I noticed the brake light (red bar) flickering :grumpy:

Phillip.

From a total novice, is it better to drift or take a more measured approach and try to keep the car under more conventional control? Im looking for lap times not fun!

Slower splits faster time

T1 - 0.23.120
T2 - 0.43.184

No drifting! You need to right on the limit, but just inside it.

The only time i get a slight drift is on the 1st right hand esse, i get a little sideways and almost slingshot myself out. Just wondered if i should approach the rest like that.

Im still getting use to the steering wheel and bumpercam to be honest. N1 anti grip tyres are certainly a skill leveller.

If you can use small slides on the way in to help point the nose at the apex, but if the car is sliding laterally when you get back on the gas you will lose exit speed and lap time.

Thanks for the kind words Phil :)
I might have another bash today just to try and frustrate myself some more 👍

I try, and try, and try, but can't get any better than these splits :indiff:

Not much of an improvement at T2, but a much better T3 for a 0.1 improvement overall.

T1: 22.222
T2: 41.792

That's me done.

T1: 22.389
T2: 42.091

Frustrating. I can either go a lot quicker for T1 or T2, but never both in one run.

No!... DRIFTING!!!! :P :

Thats exactly what I've been concentrating on this week, just having a fun drift session.
I'm so rusty though I havent drifted in like a year so I've gotta re-learn all the control that I've lost after not even playing GT5P for ages.
I cant match that so I'll just stick with a normal grip lap :(

T1: 22.447
T2: 42.279

After a long time of not playing Prologue, I'm back for the WRS again. But it took me quite long to get the feeling back and get splits I'm not ashamed of :sly::dopey::dunce:

T1: 22.290
T2: 42.086

Now back to hotlapping :crazy::dopey:

Welcome back Bart. 👍

Gary thats 10 / 10 tribute has to be Div 1 gold in drifting

Philip.

Superb video, especially the closing move!

EDIT: After another session, I just can't get close to the scruffy lap that came out of nowhere, that was somehow quicker than anything I've done before or since, despite finding a better line for Turn 5 and the last turn. So I'm submitting with those splits (see earlier edited post).

i think I'll submit now. Won't have another chance at a faster lap, even if I could squeak out a faster lap.
