General Information and Regulations

As with last season there will be three types of race event during the season. There will be 4 Standard rounds of 50mi and 5 Enduro rounds of 100mi and 1 Super-Enduro round of 150mi.

There is NO HP penalty for joining the series part way through the season.

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by GTPCTC sanctioning body, umm...me for now unless the GTMSA wants to pick me up :P. Any and all questions should be directed to GTPCTC officials (namely me..and anyone else who wants to help out) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manor.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by me for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

* Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
* No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
* Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
* No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
* All decisions by GTMSA officials are final
* The race track for this season will be defined as the area between the white or yellow lines. This means rumble strips do not count as track.

Qualifying

* Single hot lap in time trial (arcade) mode
* Weight penalty in effect
* SS tyres only
* ASM is prohibited TCS is optional
* Laps MUST be clean, no collisions no matter how small are acceptable
* Points: 3pts - 2pts - 1pt
* 20 second penalty added to race time if you don't submit a qualifying time
* Qualifying will be open for 1 week per round (i.e. Monday to Sunday)

Good luck to everyone. :)👍

Viperin: Feel free to change the date on this one. PM with your email addy and I can email you my file. Some things to note: Since the Qualifying rounds and Racing rounds are pretty much the same format, I found it easier to copy and paste and then just change the main details to the current track/time whatever. The track maps are here.

Anyways, have fun everyone. Sorry I have to cut my run short. Life is starting to get in the way. Laterz

It's no problem and thanks for all your effort.

I'll definitely echo this.
Great job organising as much as you did and keeping many of us hooked in. 👍
Never forget Real Life is far more important than a game or a website.
Look forward to seeing you in action on the track for some of the remaining rounds if you get chance to race. 👍

viperin: A warm welcome to the stewardship of GTPCTC, congrats on the podium at Laguna and let me know for this round if there's any details you need editing as I can make the changes to the original post. ;)

Is PB fully slimmed down again now, back to Mustang starting weight +1%? Hopefully this should be a great contest, Trial Mountain is an absolute favourite of mine in either direction as anyone that's tried to keep up with me at an SFGTP there well knows! :mischievous:

Also critically, once again, before we all take off in the wrong direction...
Trial Mountain Forwards?
Or Reverse?

I'll let viperin decide which direction. I might pop in for this round and Grand Valley. We'll see though.

All I can say is I'm gonna be practicing License A13 before the race! Gotta keep my chops up!

Trial Mountain Forwards?

Hello everyone,
What a fantastic set of results for Laguna Seca.
Excellent close Racing, just the way we like it 👍

I would also like to extend my thanks to SS for the work he has done so far, not an easy task and things do go Pear shaped occasionally.
My advice is - do not worry about that, as has been stated already RL is much more important.

Okay, down to business ( decisions, decisions :scared: ).

I have consulted the Oracle and : Trial Mountain Forward will be the Track of choice.

I have decided to stick with the current deadline ( ie 11.59 PM GMT Sunday22/08/2010 ).

I know this reduces the time available for Qualifying but as it is a long Race here, I did not want to cut into the time available for that.

Now a technical question - do the weight penalties accrued following a Race apply to Qualifying or just the next Race ?

Thanks and good luck everyone, catch up with you all in the BullPen :)

Busy week. Off to the pool. :) Time submitted.

Ooooh yes.
Last race (Deep Forest) I finished 3rd, therefore I dropped to 1% weight penalty which I used for both qualifying & race at Laguna Seca.
Since I won the race at Laguna I'm now at 5% penalty again (over and above the 5% penalty the Nissan carries as stock in this series, so I'm ultimately using 10% on the slider) for this qualifying session and the race at Trial Mountain.

Forwards. :mischievous:

Can we clarify if we're submitting times for this to viperin or SuperShouden now?

Send them to me, may as well jump right in :sly:

A 5% weight penalty? There go my happy feelings from a minute or so ago...

Hmmm. There's some disparity in the rules for this track, do the yellow chevroned areas at turns 7 & 8 count as "between the white or yellow lines"?

If not, a huge modification is required to racing lines, and thus laptimes are vastly different. I only have about 2 hours to try and run something here today, so a swift response will be appreciated.
I may just run 2 laps, one with use of the chevrons & one without and you can accept the submission of the one that's within the rules for the week. 💡

Also, is crossing the white line on the left of the start/finish straight after the chicane adjudged to be foul? That's also going to be a critical point of making hotlaps.

To illustrate my points, here's a video of a lap, the points in question between 0'48 & 0'50 and 1'06 & 1'10. Also at the end of the lap you can see I stay between the white lines during & after the chicane, when it's clearly quicker to run wider on exit towards the pitwall. How has everyone else dealt with this? White lines on the chevroned section are bordered by additional solid yellow lines, so I interpret this as OK, however, on the straight, there's no additional line at the pitwall, thus we should technically have to remain between the painted lines that I have tried to do here.

I hope that given the questions I have submitting this video doesn't cause me to be disqualified, if anything it should give many of you an opportunity to surpass my time here. This was run with my -15% (240HP) & +10% (1452kg) penalties in effect on SS tyres.

G'Day everyone.

Smallhorses, thank you for the query and for providing a video.
I apologise for being tardy in replying but only just managed to wrest my laptop back from my Wife, who has been immersed in "Virtual Villagers" :)
Also only having dialup means about an hour to download and watch video :grumpy:

"White lines on the chevroned section are bordered by additional solid yellow lines, so I interpret this as OK".
The "Yellow Chevron" areas are in play, your logic in this area is correct.

" Also, is crossing the white line on the left of the start/finish straight after the chicane adjudged to be foul?.... There is no additional line at the pitwall, thus we should technically have to remain between the painted lines that I have tried to do here".

At least two wheels must remain trackside of this line to be considered legal.

Hope this clears up any confusion, we still have about 22 hours left, so I hope this allows adjustments for anyone affected.

For future rounds I will do some test laps and make early decisions on any contentious areas which may crop up.

Good luck all ( I have not actually started myself yet ).

Thanks for the clarification, SH and Viperin. I am running my HL over again. And I'm going to resubmit. My submission will be forth coming.

edit: Ran through the last three tracks in the series. Opera has a couple chevrons but they do not have the border issue like Trial Mountain. Those areas would be out. Sarthe I. No problem at all if we use the rules from the last GTPLMS. GV has only the pit entrance and exit with chevrons.

*****************************************************************************************************************************************

edit: Just a thought. With all the confusion regarding wt penalties. How about this. In the remaining threads the hp/wt of each car eligible for the series is posted. Taken from the original thread. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=127550 These stock settings never change. Then only the wt penalty would be given for the ones affected. Like this as an example.

HTML:
oldmodelt - +5%

Viperin - +3%

Smallhorses - +1%

Panelli Bone - stock

GTSail290 - stock

Something like that. Of course in a spreadsheet format.

My car's stock numbers for this series are 191hp/1417kg

+5 would be 1485kg(10)
+3 would be 1458kg(8)
+1 would be 1431kg(6)

We all know how to do clicks right or left. :dunce:

This way Viperin would not have to spend the time calculating wts. Which tend to be slightly off anyways because of the game settings or looking up the figures for every race participant every time. A laborious job to be sure. A short explanation of how to to adjust the car with an example could be include with the stock settings list. This could be copied into the upcoming threads easily.

If this is agreeable to all I can put something together for Viperin to approve and add to the threads.

Hello again,
Good thinking oldmodelt 👍
I have a XL sheet that SS provided that has a summary of the settings you suggested.
The easiest solution would be for me to highlight, in bold type, any changes to stock weight where applicable.
I could still have the penalty weight which applies to those affected noted but would not expect anyone to have to work them out themselves.

Send your idea to me and I will set up new system after the conclusion of TM Race.

Thanks again.
