Danoff PM'd me back and he won't be joining this year.

If anyone knows of another GTP member that may be interested let them know. If we can't find one then we can see if a non-GTP member would like in.

I've never played fantasy football before, but have watched as many games as I can since I was like 6 :) How much 'work' is it every week? Can someone link me a small info page?

Jerome

It is easy and only requires a couple minutes a week. Basically after draft day all you have to do is pick who to play and who to sit.

I will also try and get a screenshot for you.

Cool, thanks much Justin! I'll probably update the team as I watch football anyway, huh? I also asked a co-worker about it and it sounds like fun. Can I take the last spot? I may have to simmer on the thought of a team name.

If you are interested go ahead and sign up. You can change your team name later on if you like.

FFL is pretty fun because it makes you watch not just your team, but all teams. Every week, before the first game, you will need to go through and make adjustments, sitting players on the bench and putting others in your line up based on how well you think they will do. You base it on the scoring system in fantasy football, which gives points for the number of yards run, touchdowns, recovering a fumble, etc. Basically anything that aids a team in football will earn that player some points. Of course, screwing up will cost them points as well.

At the end of the weekend your full team's score is based on the total points earned by all of your players. Your team will play against one other team each week. The last three weeks of the regular NFL season are devoted to the fantasy playoffs. Playoff entry is based on your win/loss ratio, and we have a six team playoff, so at least half the league will make it (keeps it more fun for everyone that way).

And because there is no money involved in our league, your lack of experience will at most cause you to lose bragging rights. Or it could give you an even bigger reason to brag (keep it friendly though).

And remember, with the way fantasy football works you want to pick a kicker first. They are very, very, very important. 👍

Well it looks like I just got offered a new job, so I won't be able to keep up with this. At least this year unfortunately, sorry guys and good luck!

Jerome

So that means we still have an open spot…

Bueller….bueller…..bueller….

Added, the roster is now full.

Now, serious discussions of rules and draft date/time need to take place.

Let's have the draft asap. Preferably this weekend and not the 17th.

I think we all need to see some players in action before a draft takes place. Training camp reports are worthless on how healthy a player might be. You don't want to draft an RB with some injury that hasn't healed up over the off season.

So you want to wait till the conclusion of pre-season or something?

nah...the forth week of preseason is worthless, so at least after the second or after the third at the latest.

No, I think we need to do the draft before the season starts.

It doesn't matter when we do the draft because if it's really any time on a weekend my chances of being around to actually do it are slim to none.

Ideal timing is during the late stages of pre-season. As we are setup to have the league officially begin on Game 1 of the NFL regular season we need to have the draft before then. However, if you do it too soon you may find what you thought was a great pick turns out to be injured for a few weeks and then has low performance until mid season, and had you had the opportunity to know he was injured in practice you wouldn't have picked him.

I have also had the joy of picking a player in an early draft that was then dropped, picked up by another team, and sat on the bench.

Which season you talkin bout willis?! Preseason or regular season.

Of course we should draft before the regular season if thats what you thought I was sayin.

Drafting before the preseason gains you nothing.

So what if a player I've been eyeing has a breakout game during preseason? Then he's on the map for you guys to steal before I get to pick him. :(

Unless you have some inside info, chances are that we will have all done enough research to know the possible breakouts.

What FK said little grass hoppa! You have much to learn before coming masta!

You actually want to start thinking of your back up plan when you get raped in the draft order and you don't get to pick ANYONE you were hoping for.

IMO preseason for FFL's are solely for assessing injuries of the current top picks. Picking a dark horse doesn’t show itself in a preseason game because the opposing teams don’t often bring there A-game. Watch the waiver wire every week to pick up that gem during the season.

I bet you have your eye on the Dolphin’s kicker…don’t you?! You little sneaky bast….

I like your game kid. Bring it!

I say we let Omnis have first pick first round. He might want one or two backup kickers too for his second and third picks.

If I have said it once I'll say it a thousand times...you can NEVER have too many kickers!

Has the draft time been set yet? As it is it looks like it will be around noon on saturday the 29th my time, which should be good for me (although I have a dentist appointment at 2:30 pm ;) )

Nothing has been agreed upon yet, but only two people have weighed in.

I am unlikely to make the current default time (depends on how my heart cath goes), but if it works best for everyone we can just go with that and I can deal.

Heck, I may be able to use my laptop in the hospital if need be.

If you already know you can't make it then post up a few options and lets pick the one that most will be able to attend.

It really doesn't matter to me that much. If I can't make it then I will just deal with what the auto draft gives me.

Short of unforeseen complications I am free every other weekend evening between now and when the season starts, September 10th.

I can even do the 29th of August. I would suggest something Labor Day weekend, but I am sure that some people will be out of town.

If we don't go too late (finished by midnight ET) I can even do something during the week, but I think that will put Speedy in a bind.

Speedy, do you work/or whatever a regular Monday through Friday schedule?

Anyway, if the evening of the 28th is best for everyone but me then I can deal with that. It is highly likely I can make it, but I won't know until at least mid-afternoon that day if they want me to stay over night.

I work the regular monday to friday, yes. The way it is now is good for me, but if it doesn't work for everyone feel free to change it and I will see how it works out.

I'm not picky about draft time, any evening works for me, about 7 ET on. I work during the days on weekends so weekends are fine but it would have to be in the evening.
