I created a yahoo fantasy hockey league for GTP.

http://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/gtp

league name: GTPlanet Hockey League (ID# 10142)

Password: gtp

As of now it's a 10 team league, but if need be I can expand that number. I'm doubting that will be necessary, but we'll see.

I'd like some feedback on what type of league people want, type of draft, time of draft, etc etc.

1. Noob616 (Don't Toews me, bro!)
2. NISM0_SKYLINE (Capital Drifters)
3. Max Powers (Tie Domi)
4. BudNC6721 (Budnc's Wildebeests)
5. Joey D (Shovel Bums on Ice)
6. Icarus25 (Toe Drag Danglers)

I'll play, it could be hard getting players though...there are not too many hockey fans here.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of... inviting people who aren't from GTP is OK in my book, cause it's not likely we'll get 10-12 people from GTP.

Well, we still have a lot of time until the season starts. I'll send a few PMs out to the few hockey fans I do know around GTP who may miss this thread, and if that fails, I can recruit a few friends to fill out the ranks.

Either way, I'm in. I won my league with my friends last year even though I drafted Jeff Carter instead of Sidney Crosby w/ my first pick lol

I'm in, I've never done a fantasy thing before, but I'll figure it out. It'll probably be most Capitals :D though, or whatever you're supposed to do.

Well, there's likely going to be a draft, and you draft players from the entire NHL for your team. It's similar to the NHL entry draft, but with the entire league. Ovechkin will likely go 1st overall :P

If you stick with Backstrom/Ovechkin/Semin/Green, you'd be alright, most fantasy hockey leagues don't get too much deeper than that though. It'd be a miracle if you could draft all four of them though, Backstrom and Semin carried my team last year for me.

Ah, I see I'll give it a shot. I looked at it yesterday and no clue what was going on, but I'll just click around until something works.

It's pretty straightforward, basically you draft your team and some reserves, and set your lineup based on who's playing...then you get points for most goals/assists/best GAA/etc against your opponent. You'll be fine w/ a basic knowledge of hockey, and a little bit of time every week to set your lineups.

I'm in.

edit: I can't make the draft though. Its not an issue though, I'll just have to set up my player rankings to draft the best player available.

I'm sure the draft time is still subject to change, as it's a month away. We'll surely be able to find a time to accommodate everybody.

Thats cool, its not a huge deal to me though. I will just have to talk myself into not drafting Marc Andre Fluery. It will be difficult, but I can't be blinded by his greatness that does not translate into great stats.

I can't commit to joining the league as I already host the WTAC (for GT PSP) and am planning to move out of the country in the next couple of months.

Sorry, guys... I wish I could!

So in an act of kindness to all you other guys in the draft I am going to let you know who my top forward, defensemen and goalie are going into the upcoming draft.

Maxime Talbot-Hes good enough to talk trash at the #2 player in the world, and that makes him #1 in my book.

Dion Phanuef-Based on the fact that I thought Elisha Cuthbert was hot on 24.

Johan "Moose" Hedberg-Back in the day this guy carried the Pens through a couple playoff rounds, and did I mention they call him "The Moose?"

I'm all joined up, it's going be a busy fantasy autumn with all my leagues going on . Oh and I'm the Shovel Bums on Ice.

I'm in. That will put it up to 6 teams, which you need evens for head-to-head. I'll update later with my team name and everything once I choose one, right now I'm Pending. If I may make a suggestion though...maybe drop GAA from the goalie stats because it's sort of redundant with Goals Against. Also, I think Faceoffs are an important stat for forwards and gives people another option on how to build their team. I know I like picking up decent point producers who win tons of faceoffs. What do you guys think about those changes? Everything else is good for me and I can make the draft.

:( I was the only one who showed up this morning for the draft. Don't get all mad at me when I totally kick your asses  Anyway good luck everyone.

Morning? What the heck I thought it was tonight. Looks like I'm hitting the waivers.

Edit: At least I got two of my favorite players, Kessel and Kaberle.

Your team is pretty solid. Your RWs as a group are better than mine.

Half my players are from the Wings .

It was amusing watching your draft picks...Red Wing, Red Wing, Red Wing, Red Wing. I expected your entire team to be Wings

It's going to be a good season. I already know I picked a couple guys that might not last more than a week, but you gotta take some risks.

What can I say? I'm a Red Wing's fan. If they do well this year, I'm set.

I managed to get Kessel on all 3 of my fantasy hockey teams, however it was intentional on the other two. I hope I can keep up with these GTP leagues as honestly they take the lowest priority on the fantasy sports totem pole for me. Right now I am in 2 money football leagues, 1 non money football league (GTP), with two hockey money leagues as well.

Either way, there's a lot of talent available on waivers with a 6 team league, so we should see some high scoring.

Good luck, guys.
