My GT Spirit 964 Turbo arrived today and it's very nice. Turns out its a very dark blue, not black. Although you wouldn't be able to tell from the pictures...

And that about wraps it up for my 911 collection, since I'm all out of room! (well I have space for 2 more cars and I'm hunting for a red 3.3 Turbo 930) Here are all 25 cars.

Very rare 1/18 purchase for me:

1/18 AUTOart Signature Mazda 787b(little guy - 1/64 Kyosho)

Very nice. Looks like you got the original release that had the car as it raced at Le Mans rather than the released version with additional stickers and what not.

The engine cover on mine does not sit correctly. There's a gap, even when pushing down, and I need to figure out what's wrong with it.

I have a serious problem with this car, I love the model but I simply can't stand the livery, that's the main reason I got the stealth version instead, sometimes regret the choice just for the historical value (same as my Sauber C9 in presentation blue/black livery) but then I remember how cool the carbon black looks on this car.

Your cabinet is about as good as it goes for covering a single marque. Love it.

Thanks! It took a while to collect them all. I got lucky, you can find nearly every 911 model in 1/18 form. I am missing a few that either don't exist or are too hard to find. For example the 3.0 Carrera RS from Spark is ultra rare and the 991 GT3 RS also from Spark is easy to find but costs USD $700 or more.

I might not be done just yet, there is a Autoart 3.3 Turbo for sale right now, but it's very expensive. But I want it...

It indeed is sexy display. 👍

Additional stickers!? :irked: Good thing I don't know much in detail about this car. It indeed is the one AUTOart just released, so it very well could have some decal that doesn't belong on it. Unless it's something blatantly unusual, like "Honk if you love Jesus" or something, I wouldn't know which decal's the culprit. :D

P.S. I also had a scare on the fit of one part. Front nose would sit high, and I thought it was a factory defect? Turns out I was installing it incorrectly, and it was sitting on top of the front tow hook. :ouch: :P

There actually was one defect: They crumpled up the right side mirror glass. It looks lot worse than it does in this picture:

They leave this thing on a $200+ model? Not impressed. Last year, it was a missing gear shifter on the Ford GT. Come on AUTOart.

I don't think you could go wrong with either selection. I love the one you have, too. I also hated the Renown livery when it was new. But it became one of the historical winner for Japanese racing(which adds national pride for me), and the colors really did grow on me. Just love everything about this car now, especially the power unit & the sound it makes. :embarrassed:

I don't collect larger diecasts, so it takes for lot of things to go right for me to buy one, but again, this livery do comes across as a love/hate design. :D

As far as I remember there's the commemorative edition (for the 15th anniversary of the victory (?)) with an extra decal on it, a little japan flag and some writing.
My only rule about the 1:18 Le Mans collection was: no test livery.
So, since the 787B Stealth is actually a Mazda sponsored by Gran Turismo...was fine for me!
Plus, it was half the price and so I was able to get a Toyota GT One as well, the only reason you really should go for the Renown is the historical value, the quality is the same with half the price and carbon looks better.
IF the #18 787B was more common (the only 1:43 group C I have), I'd took that over the stealth version...
Speaking of national pride I'm sad about there's a very very limited roster of modern Italian LM cars...and the Ferrari 333 SP was just sold to private teams...so it's impossible to find a "Scuderia Ferrari 333 SP", plus the never developed Alfa Romeo Sport Prototipo would only be available as test livery IF we ever get an 1:18.
I'm in love with Japanese Group C cars, the cherry on the cake would be the Nissan R92CP for me!

I've added a 787B recently as well, it is a rerelease late last month.
Ah, re-release. Just like my other Ford GTs. 👍

If it was commemorative release, I'd been okay with extra sticker or two. :D I do have the Toyota GT One(not stored well though ), but yeah, I can understand the two-for-one saving. Like I said, I am a fan of the Gran Turismo 787B. That & the Nissan GT-R. SEXY.
My AA 787B is the original release from I think 2006? Somewhere around there. Only paid $100 for it way back then, which was a hell of a deal. Still one of my favorite models to this day. I wish I had gotten the #18 to go with it though...
Beautiful pics as usual.👍

What do you think about the re-releases though? I was SO happy to get another chance at the AUTOart Ford GT Test Car(also 787B), but re-release damages collectible value. In my book, not really fair to other collectors?

Only problem I have is they haven't re-released the #18 lol
But then I'm one of those weirdos that doesn't collect for collectable value, I collect because they are the cars I like lol...

I'm sure we all collect for things we like, but collectable value definitely has some influential factor to getting what you want to get.

Having collected basketball cards in the past, now hot wheels, etc., secondary market value almost dictate what you can & can't have, or the size of your collection. I also do wish that none of this mattered, but I was just interested to see how other collectors thought of re-releases. 👍

It does to some extent (mostly in terms of price). Personally, I wish the value of these models wouldn't shoot up as much as it can, since it often makes it impossible for me to afford some of the models I want.

aehm, now it's clear why eBay is full of 787B #55...
anyway...I'm always stucked between value and "car love".
Currently I don't have space and money to buy single cases for each model, so I keep those as nearly opened models (the value almost intact, the C9 and the GT One still have the safety door stickers applied).
Plus I alwasy fall in the trick...: Hey! I got 100€ right now...why I should buy 10 car cases when I can afford another nice model???
IF I had a salary, maybe a good one I would care less about value (and I would also buy two of each models, one to keep brand new and one to display ) but now I'm just an engineering student with personal limited economic resources, so the money I spend for my hobby has a big impact if you know what I mean...

I will never sell the models I have, but I will admit that I have thought about it, there is a lot of value there. But the thought of dealing with boxing up and shipping all of them is a nightmare. Honestly, I'm about to move and I am dreading it simply because of the model cars. Besides the 1/18 911s I've almost exclusively posted here, I have a large 1/43 collection too.

Sorry, I went off on a tangent there. In related news I'm currency bidding on the most expensive model I think I will ever own. It will be my last one. And this time I mean it.

I know this all too well. I've get boxes everywhere in my current home with my die casts in them, some in drawers and a few on show. They all had to be transported from my last house, as I've barely bought anything other than Hot Wheels since I moved in Summer '14. That's what having a wife with no interest in collecting does!

The stickers/decals are ones for the 1999 Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the car running as #55 as well as stickers Mazda put on the actual race car after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster with the Rising Sun, Japanese characters, and "Never Give Up" in English. The re-releases mirror those changes that Mazda actually made to the car since its running at 1991 Le Mans.

Yeah, AutoArt quality just isn't what it used to be. Collectors and hobbyists online have definitely griped about it.

I don't collect for the sake of appreciating prices (it would be an investment otherwise ;)). I buy the cars that I like and if it so happens to go up in value, all the better.

I just committed to the most expensive model I've ever purchased. It's the red Autoart Porsche 3.3 Turbo I've always wanted, so I guess I went a little nuts on bidding. I really am done this time, I can't keep spending like this.

Okay, maybe one more car. I can't leave the case empty.
