It's when the models are made for Porsche official "driver sélection" that's the official Porsche box & packaging, and price.

But at this Price the fact it's a minichamps is quite disapointing to say the least. Finish is really not good enough. It looks like a €100 minichamps regular release.

But exclusive colour and display case, sir!

:P
Feeling a bit of buyer's remorse...

If someone else makes a better version of the car I will certainly exchange for it.

Feeling a bit of buyer's remorse...

While I respect collectors for their dedication to the hobby and perseverance, I personally never understood the craze behind collecting scale models that have created an entire resale/used market behind them.

I would much rather buy a kit and build/modify it to my heart's content rather than shell out an exorbitant amount of money on a limited run of a sub-par model whose uniqueness is solely the limited production.

I understand buying models because you adore the real-life counterpart, but buying them to get into the whole resale market is absurd to me.

That's just me though.

I do not buy models with any sort of investment in mind nor do I buy a model just because it's limited production (though a lot of the models I have happen to be considered rare), I buy because I want it in my collection. The buyer's remorse I somewhat feel for this particular model is that, as Kedmasterz pointed out, it is comparable to a normal Minichamps model worth a third of the price. I suppose anyone patient would wait for alternatives, but quite frankly I wanted the 992 GT3 in 1/18 scale since the car was announced so the price didn't really phase me.

Every single one of my models is on display, not one has ever sat in a box unopened or anything like that. I've even lightly modified some of the more expensive models I have, which surly reduced the value.

Just ordered a 1/18 scale 992 GT3 in Shark Blue.

Maybe someone here knows better about how manufacturing works in the model car world, but this model looks like a Spark model, it's got the price tag of a Spark model, the box and numbered base are identical to Spark models.... but it's a Minichamps branded model. I find it odd, but like the Spark models, there is no Minichamps branding on the box either. Unlike the Sparks, the wheel size is way better looking on this one.

Suppose there is a manufactuer out there making models for various brands?

All Porsche dealer resin models came with the exact same display case. GT Spirit, Spark, Minichamps all share the same case design.

Facebook marketplace strikes again. Out of boredom and as I found something the last time I checked an opportunity arose that was too god to let it pass:

Someone was selling CMC, Exoto and AutoArt models and this was one of the pictures. Now, I wasn't that interested in the Auto Unions, Bugattis or Ferraris (who'd've thunk) but there were two cars that I had the opportunity to see displayed at events over the last years and so the collector's bug struck again.

They're currently making their way over and I have to find a way to take pictures that are worthy of them.

About to pull the trigger on Friday on my first 1/18 die-cast in well over 5 years.

Solido have dropped this lovely 'Techno Violet'* E36 with the simulated grey M Cloth Vaders.

Quality seems on par with my UT M3 in the more realistic, darker Techno Violet. *I swear this one is more Daytona Violet, despite what Solido have called it.

I don't know who they are, or where I find them. But I will hunt one down and I will buy it. I missed the boat on the UT model back in the day and that's a big regret.

The detail and luggage of that one looks amazing.

LCD have made some highly detailed models and they are cheaper than Autoart. Check out their 600LT. It's ridiculously good.

Do what I've been doing for 10 years:

Shoot in a pitch black room if you got curtains, or in a basement at night with all the lights killed.
Single large backdrop, one light source. 4 second exposure.

:sly:

Edit:

Holy christ. LCD pushing this out:

This has to be the most complete model I've ever seen. It's a new level of accuracy, especially with the FITTED LUGGAGE. But I fear that the cost will be astronomical if I manage to find one.

Several older AUTOarts and Kyoshos have had fitted luggage ;)
My AUTOart McLaren F1 has luggage, though I think it is in the box since it wasn't in my model last time I checked lol

We don't want to be too caught up on the fact this is getting a ton of bells and whistles, but rather be caught up whether said bells & whistles will look good. If it ends up coming out as unpainted single-colour plastics coming off model kit frames with ends not cleaned up, I think that wouldn't take away some points.

But as someone who missed the Autoart and had to settle on the Minichamps (which honestly isn't a bad model as seen below), it's really nice to see this being picked up so many years later.

If someone can make a better Shelby Cobra than Kyosho, I'd be really losing it.

I picked this one up last weekend - the holy grail for a 1:18 Minichamps F1 collector?

Only 50 of these Montoya MP4-19 test cars were produced in 2005, for Tag Heuer shop window displays in Ernest Jones jewellers in the UK. They were supposed to be returned to Tag/Minichamps at the end of the promotional period but a few made their way into the hands of collectors and they’re highly sought after.

There’s one that recently sold on eBay for €500!
