Must be great to finally see them all displayed. I am in the same situation, my collection has never entirely been displayed and are currently all in a closet, some going on 15 years.

I've not found a solution I like yet, think custom displays might be the way to go. I tried Ikea glass cabinets (I forgot the name), but didn't really like them and I would need 8-10 of these cabinets to fit all the models.

None of the IKEA cabinets work, they are either too big or too small.
The ones you have are nice, but I could never convince me to buy them, they are not big enough on the outside, but way too big and spaced out shelving on the inside.

So I decided to scout for commercial grade cabinets from stores that are closing out, or even garage sales.


In the last couple of years, I kept my eyes peeled really hard and looked around, got lucky a couple of times people getting rid of them on the side of the road....

Repurposed and refurbished them, by customizing them my way. The wood portion are either disgusting or rotten away, so I would just build it back better going to the hardware store.

Like I said, this is not an overnight project, it took years, the first cabinet was assembled a couple years back.

Just got the second over the summer.

Thanks! I am quite proud of the collection. They are a mix of Norev, AutoArt, Spark and Minichamps models.

By the way, I have not researched or checked, but from gut feel,the reason Norev is called no Norev is because it sounds like "Nos Reves", which is French for "Our (childhood) dreams".


Really love that company and the amount of cars it produces, and I also really like Ottomobile and GT spirits, which are all French based companies.

I never really stopped to think what Norev meant, but I like your take on it better than what I found online. Which is that "Norev" is "Véron" backwards, the surname of the brothers who founded the company.

Norev is steadily becoming my favorite brand recently. I am impressed with the GT3s they have done but also their recent Porsche 964 line, which are far and away the best Porsche models in the last year in my opinion.

I got a 1:64 scale model of the 2 Seas #18 AMG GT3 signed by Max Götz and Kevin Tse. This photo was taken at Redgate at Donington while the real car was stuck in the same gravel just about 50 yards away. I've seen some of these appear on eBay at up to £40 a pop, unsigned... I won't be selling this one though...!

Models from the brand Minichamps have kinda been slipping in quality lately with more and more releases of sealed models rather than opening diecast. Fortunately, and hopefully starting a trend, they re-released a series of old 911 3.2 Carreras in new colors and will soon be re-releasing their 911 2.7 Carrera RS (the best version of the RS you can get in 1/18 scale in my opinion, better than AutoArt).

I am very pleased because models at this level of quality are few and far between in the classic Porsche 911 world at least. I'll try to snap better photos soon alongside the original release of this model.

Detolfs do require some work to add additional shelves to make use of all the unused vertical space. The same could be said for BILLY bookcases, which I myself have, but it is not displaying cars. I did have half of the case reserved for cars, but I display figures instead.

Shallow bookcases should work well, assuming you're on board with orienting your cars to their side rather than lining them all up to face you.

Also, hello to everyone else. Haven't been here in a while, and still haven't taken any photos of the V12 Vantage, one of the last models I will have ever purchased. I came VERY close to ordering some models the other day, but I was able to hold myself back because I did swear off model cars. These were the ones:

Juicy. How does the inner bits of the lights look compared to Ignition? You know how much I rave about Ignition's quality to lamp details.

I should get started on the S2000 project some day. My time's been largely consumed by making custom boardgame organizers these days. Custom model cars has been put on the back burner for years.

Dunno, my Ignition J's Racing S2000 is in its box for now. I'll have to take it out sometime and compare the two. Also need to do a full batch of comparison pics between the AA and MH sometime, as I plan on selling the AA to a friend.

Something totally different from me. Every M-Sport Fiesta WRC from 2011 to 2021 in 1/43 scale.
Had a hard time getting them in frame and I have no tripod so this is the best I could do.

Very nice pics! I particularly like what Motorhelix did to the rims to make them look more realistic than the normally painted plastic. Engine bay looks really nice too, and I can't help but wonder what magic they did to the valve cover to create that texture.

@SPhilli911 Awesome 911 collection too, I really like those rare-coloured 911s and 1st-gens.

It's been a long time since I last contributed any pics to this thread, but I actually did take pics between now and then. This Norev SLS AMG has been purchased a long time ago, so here's a really quick review of it if anybody is gonna find it useful:

Good:

• perforated front grille unlike the Minichamps (I think another member here has mentioned it before)
• good treatment to the rims, they really look like they have the depth
• there is a little button on the underbody that you can press to lift up the bonnet for opening

Bad:

• severely limited turning angle for the front steering (both steering wheel and the spinning wheel)
• plastic used for dashboard looks pretty toy-ish, maybe it's due to the glossy and grainy texture?
• model feels really heavy, heavier than your typical metal-bodied AUTOart

Actually, there're more pics that I haven't uploaded despite them being taken more than 5 years ago(!), so I may as well put them here. Not all, but the rest should be posted eventually.





The LFA is, well... typical 1st-release AUTOart LFA, so pretty good then. The Daytona though, that's where the surprise came from, because the Kyosho version seems to be much better than the Hot Wheels Elite rendition, from the functional pop-up headlights to the actual bezels on the instrument cluster, almost to the point of no competition. I remember getting one via online auction when prices were still inexorbitant. Good times.
