This store in Hong Kong will not let you leave empty-handed.

Solido makes some great looking 1/43 models, been keeping an eye on a few myself. Honestly, their 1/18 selection is pretty good for the prices, too.

Here’s my last model purchase of 2024. I don’t buy a lot of 1/18s, but this one is worth every penny, and should go nicely with my 1/18 SLS road car and my 1/24 SL 63 model kit.

It’s even got 2 colour-matching suitcases and a correctly-sized spare wheel!

Arguably one of Minichamps’ last high-quality and -functionality 1/18 models. I also bought a display case:

Have a merry 2025 everybody, and happy collecting!

Sometimes the appeal of buying diecasts in SEA is getting it early
The problem with this Matchbox recolour that it might be too early, since there’s no pics of it packaged on the internet yet…

Here's another old Beetle for my VW 1/43 Collection, although this one is quite different than the usual...

Meet the Hebmuller Typ 18 A (1949)
Also known as "Open Police Touring Car" (yes, this was a convertible police car back in the day!!), this mighty little bug delivered an overwhelming 25 horsepower from its 1.1 liter air-cooled engine and a claimed top speed of 100 km/h, which sounds "optimistic" despite its lack of doors and a proper roof... probably achievable if driven downhill... on neutral... with a little wind 🤣🤣

Jokes aside, this is a pretty cool car, and definitely different than the usual classic Beetle we're used to see everywhere. The body modifications were performed by coachbuilder Hebmuller based on the standard VW Beetle Type 1.

Curiously, they even produced a "civillian" version of this convertible with actual doors and a proper interior, a lot of luxurious refinements like chrome trims and a two-tone paintjob, and a slightly different rear end...

Have you heard of the Type 14A before? It's one of the most expensive and sought after VWs out there, and it was produced by Hebmuller.

And that's your History shot for today, you can thank me later

That's very interesting thanks for the history! Never heard of or even seen that VW before, so it's neat to see there is a model available at all for one.

Yes, the scale model exists but it's part of a 70-car VW official collection, so you can't really buy it separately.

Who wants to see another of my VW 1/43 scale models?
No one? Well, I'll show it anyway

This time it's the 1981 VW Scirocco GTI:

Looks really nice with that iconic coat of red paint, typical of the GTI models.
Kinda looks "sporty", even though it's performance doesn't really match the looks.

It's amazing to think that the original Scirocco from 1974 was actually designed by Giugiaro, one of the best Italian designers, PERIOD.

Click on the spoiler below to see some other Scirocco scale models from my collection

That AutoArt Stingray is impressive. I am especially impressed by that Motorhelix S2000, think that brand may be putting out some of the best models lately.

Wanted to get a picture that shows the range of the Porsche 911. Here we have a Targa, Speedster, Turbo, Carrera, Cabriolet and GT each in different color and generation.
