After the grueling test of Suzuka, drivers of the GTPLMS series take a relative breather at Fuji. Driving the '90s version of this track will have drivers diving into turn 1 at the maximum speed their cars can go. This race will be fast and the action will be furious.

SERIES NEWS FLASH
Because of the long delay in results, and consequently the long delay in getting race specifications up, the deadline has been changed to TUESDAY for this week. Over the next few weeks, we will make up the difference, but this week's race you will still get a full 7 days to complete.

This'll be a single pitter, RM/RM then RS/RS for both cars!

Glad of the extension Chris, but to be honest, I don't know if I will need it.
RL was a real B;TCH last week, but this week it'll be a breeze.

Have already ran 3 or 4 tyre testing seshes, so I know I can string 'em together.
The only prob was the pit entrance (spotting it that is) but with new screen..........piece of p;ss!:)

I think you made a slight error in your post. look at the text in bold above "Series News Flash".

Hold on Hold on Hold on

Something is seriously wrong here

Fact: ICallShotGun has qualified ahead of me in all 3 rounds of GTPLMS S2

Fact: ICallShotGun finished 2nd last round at Fuji 90s with 688 HP. I finished 3rd with 746 HP.

Fact: I CallShotGun qualified 3rd for Round 3 New York. I qualified 4th.

Fact: For the Round 3 Race @ New York I have still have 746 HP, the same amount from the beginning of the season.

Fact: For the Round 3 Race @ New York ICallShotgun now has 704 HP, 16 more than he did at Fuji 90s.

So the superior Audi R8 gets 16 more HP and I get 0 despite the fact that particular R8 has beat me in every session this season.

Something needs to be changed more later

Yup!

You are right there Earth!
I'll do some in-depth analysis in the morning when my brain isn't fogged by beers.

I don't doubt that it's just a fatigue induced mistake by Chris, but I'll look into it.
I enjoy doing the math!

ICallShotgun
GTPLMS competition will institute round-by-round competition adjustments. These will be adjustments to horsepower in percentage points as follows.
1st - -2%
2nd - -1%
...
2nd Last - +1%
Last - +2%
Up to a maximum of +/- 5%. Each addition/restriction will last for 3 sessions, qualifying OR race. Race restrictions carry over to qualifying, and vice versa.
it's the revolving 3-round system. this round i lose my -2% hp penalty for winning R1 Race. now it's R2 Q which I placed 2nd (-1%), won R2 Race (-2%), and nothing for R3 Q, i'm down 3% from original specs.

The cars are pretty equal...check out R2 Q and R2 Race. Qualifying had A PS2, C60, GT-One, and an R8 w/in 4 seconds of each other for 4 lapsall with lap times w/in .4s.

I will say that I know suzuka and Fuji '90's very well, and don't know NY very well, so hence my performance lagged in Qualifying and will no-doubt lag in the race.

And yes, I do keep tabs on which cars (and drivers) are performing, and I have been known to make competition adjustments throughout the season. I had planned on doing this before Le Mans and again before Petit Le Man later in the season. Special attention is being paid to the R8, the Vipers in GT1, the RX7s in GT2, and the CUSCOs in GT3, but don't nobody panic or throw something incendiary at me, i do put in miles (and miles and miles and miles) of testing before changes are made.

Another thing I notice is that the Penalty setting for this round is Speed Limiter. IIRC for the Race section of the first 2 rounds this season, the penalty was "Forced Pit Entry". Maybe this is a change in settings for this round, or is it a oversight on Shotguns part?

Well regardless of whatever the punishment for the crime is, I'll do my best to turn in a penalty-free race time. That is certain.;)

This is track is what some call a 'concrete palace'. It's easy to make contact with a barrier here. Forced pit entry would wreck alot of people's races.

As for me...I think I have a good chance in GT1. I have the least amount of HP and the smallest weight, so I should be good on tires and good through the tight sections of the track. I like my chances.

As for Prototype, it's going to take the drive of my life to get a podium finish. No way I'm winning but I can barely see a podium.

RACECAR will win Prototype, and jump_ace will finish second in PRO

As many as 7 drivers have a shot at 3rd place in PRO. The results will be intersting because it's easy to make mistakes at this track which should mix things up 3rd and on back

It's not an un-usual choice on a city course.

Eat's set the president in S2 JGTC, by using 'speed limiter' @ Monaco and the other city courses.
It's easier to see when you have incurred a pen, so you can re-start quickly.

I'll be honest with you guys here and hope not to be branded a 'cheat'.

I ALWAYS run with pens set to 'speed limiter', regardless of what any steward in any series says.
I don't submit races with a penalty in it, ever! So it doesn't matter what I have it set to, because one will never be in my submitted time.

It just means that I know immediately that I have screwed up, and I can re-start straight away, without that little stresser that is coming up to the pits after a little contact, and wondering whether I'm gonna end up in the pits of not.

Times in!

Started to enjoy the track, after 100 or so laps. I helped being able to see the track clearly, but it's still not one of my fav tracks.

Not expecting much, in the way of positions in the results, but hey, that's life init?:indiff:

This'll be a single pitter, RM/RM then RS/RS for both cars!

Glad of the extension Chris, but to be honest, I don't know if I will need it.
RL was a real B;TCH last week, but this week it'll be a breeze.

Have already ran 3 or 4 tyre testing seshes, so I know I can string 'em together.
The only prob was the pit entrance (spotting it that is) but with new screen..........piece of p;ss!:)
Neil
I have no idea how anyone could do a 1 stopper in Proto here { using RM/RM RS/RS } .. change your name to 'Tyre God' pls :) Delfino will be stopping twice .. which aint so bad .. he has an all girl pit crew :sly:

Ended up doing one stopper races in both PRO and GT1.

RM/RH in PRO, and RM/RM in GT1.
10+9 laps in both cases.

Binned the longer run, plus soft's idea. It just wasn't fast enough in the end.

So just keeping Tyre King will have to do! :D

gotta go, future misses is feeling 'needy'! :sly:

Be back later, maybe.

Neil

My times are quicker in Pro { the short pit stop helps } on a 2 stopper using RS/RM RS/RM RS/RS than a 1 stop using RM/RH RM/RH ... don't like using hard rears on this track anyway .. might do some laps before hitting the sack ... 10.32 pm here GN

I went the same way Neil.
One stopper on RM's, as you said, the times weren't there on the RS's.
I also don't expect to be anywhere near the podium, but at least I'm running a car :)

Well, Drew and I are a little hog-tied in the GT-One.
There is absolutely no way of getting more than 6 laps out of medium rears (at least in the PAL version I'm playing) even with the dreaded TCS on!

Maybe it'll be like last season where the NTSC/B version of the car gives better rear tyre life in this car too (last year it was at least 1 1/2 laps different from one version to another) I hope so for Andy's sake.

I tried to do a 2 stopper on RS/RM's earlier today, and no matter how easy I took it with the right foot, the rears got chewed up in 6 laps. They even changed colour on the straights!

So I'll just stick to the run I have submitted, and take the medicine. I did say I wanted a challenge this season, but was maybe a little unfair to Andy?

Off testing at Le Sarthe, in the Group C.
Having a ball!

Neil

One reason i chose the PS2 .. has the best tyre wear creds :) .. top speed is the compromise :grumpy:

Took the Ford GT out for my first attempt at 19 laps. After trying out a few different tire combos and deciding if I should one-stop or two-stop I settled in for what I thought would be a fairly easy 19. Ohh, no, no , no my naive little racer. Not so. 4 1/2 hrs later and a mediocre clean set of 19 is all I have to show for my effort. I'll most likely attempt again later today. Didn't even try the Pesca yet. NYC is a tuff town folks.

My Altezza eats front tires like there's no tomorrow, at NY. The soft compound tires, by the end of the 5th lap, are already bright yellow at front. :scared:

Still have to try the RM's. :guilty:

I finally managed a clean set of 19 in both PRO and GT1 using RM/RM and pitting once. After about 100 laps of failed attempts I was finally able to get into a groove. I remember what Chris had said about letting the car float into the turns and not rush into them. And I kept hearing Neil's imaginary voice saying, "smooth baby, go smooooth." :D Well, thanks guys - it worked! 👍 Tires held up okay and managed some decent laps. Will try to best myself tomorrow, but all in all, happy with what I have and really enjoying the City!

times submitted..:nervous: :nervous: i'm gettin' the hang of it, but got a problem with the RW, for some reason, i'm skiping gears, specially upshifting for 3rd to 4th, it gets from 3rd to 5th and sometimes 6th. It is the MC2. anybody knows why this happens????

Sending times soon .. finally managed to go with the flow with a 1 stopper in Proto .. after 120+ laps in GT2 and GT3 .. getting back into the Pesco was worth it .

I had the same problem with my DFP a while back, and it's the microswitch for the upshift that is the problem.(probably crushed, and sending multiple signals)
You will have to strip the wheel down and replace it.

Not a big job, but still may take you an hour.
You will need to get a replacement switch from your local Maplins.
And be a little handy with a soldering iron.
Neil

:scared: :ill: oh shoot!!!! that means another wheel, i barely have time for the races; 💡 💡 do we have days off between races??? if not, it will be very hard to strip the thing down and not feel guilty... :nervous:

sorry for being quiet guys, but ICS Racing had to take some time off for RL. So much going on during the weekends that there isn't any time left for fun stuff. Anyway...
First let me address the competition issues. there are some differences between the cars, yes. Some are faster, some corner better, some have better brakes, some have better tire wear. To be honest, i haven't seen anything to worry me about competition adjustments other than (and i hope NO ONE TAKES OFFENSE, because i don't mean it) different driver ability. THAT being said, competition testing has resumed and there will be some adjustments made BEFORE LE MANS. These will NOT be in the form of HP adjustments, but in weight. Weight affects tire wear, acceleration, and braking pretty equally without sacrificing top speed (in my testing). The adjustments haven't been nailed down yet, but it will be done before Le Mans, at the sacrifice of ICS Racing.

Now to ICS Racing.
First off, NY rev is nothing like NY Fwd. Not near as much flow to the track, and i just can't find a rhythem. The times show it, i'm not a threat this week. The GT3 S2000 burns through the fronts like they're on FIRE. must be me over-driving and late-braking, but it isn't going to happen. managed a 1-stop on RH/RM for 11 laps, then RM/RS for 8, but i was on ice on lap 19...it was exciting.
GT2 and my M3 aren't getting along. Might end up running this one more time, but i can't get through without a 10s penalty (concrete and bumpers don't get along). Oh well, Infineon here I come.
GT1 and the Viper aren't much better, but for some reason the extra HP from GT2 helps me through the corners. the AI here is brutal, having to race the CLK-GTR unconciously makes me race harder...and burn tires faster. But, managed a 1stop with RM/RM, RM/RM...and a 2nd place in the race. I'm happy with it, but there's more out there.
PRO and the R8 have a helluva time here. High curbs and a low car that doesn't handle w/o power on is rough. made up 30s from my first run, but still have a penalty that Ican't get rid of.

Overall ICS isn't looking to break some records here, especially in PRO. Not my week.

My GT3 times are submitted and I'm not expecting anything extraordinary.

Made two stops: RS/RS -> RM/RM -> RS/RS

I get nervous when driving between walls. The Altezza was eating all the rubber I could throw at it really fast and the AI (set at 9) didn't help either... a few overtakes went wrong and no draft to help me out on the long straights. I'm really looking forward for a real track again.

You can always change the settings under "Options" for which buttons do the shifting. When I was using a MC2 I had it programmed so the upper buttons on the face of the wheel did the shifting and used my thumbs. The paddles didn't work well for me on that wheel. Try it and see, it might work for you.

Wow, I've never seen a race where almost everyone has had so much problems. seems much easier to pass the AI here(to me at least) because they slow down so much. did a RM/RM combination before and after the first pit stop, then after the last stop, used softs all around. seems like this track isn't as hard on soft tires as I predicted.

I took awhile, but I started to like NYC. Sure, the Artificial Idiots are a pain and they did ruin a few barrier-breaking laps for me, but all in all I'm leaving the Big Apple with a good feeling. Times sent.
