Rules and Regulations

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by GTPLMS sanctioning body, GTMSA. Any and all questions should be directed to GTMSA officials (namely me ICallShotgun) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manor.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by GTMSA for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

Penalties for Late Time Submission will be as such.
If the driver submits times Private Messaged through GTP to ICallShotgun before the deadline as time-stamped by GTP, no penaly will be given. A driver has up to 3 hours after deadline to send in their time, but a penalty will be enforced equal to the lateness of the submission, 1 second for every minute after deadline up to 3hr past deadline. Anything after 3hr will not be accepted and will post a DNS/DNQ.

All Other Standard Online Racing Rules apply.
  • No Cheating, Hybrids, or any crap like that. Run the car I set up for you please.
  • Try and keep two wheels on the road at all times. No shortcuts.
  • No wall-riding. It slows you down.

Qualifying (4-lap Sprint Race)
  • Arcade Mode>>>Single Race>>>Original Courses>>>Deep Forest>>>Select Car
  • Tires restricted to RM/RM ONLY.
  • Tire Wear set to NONE.
  • AI Difficulty set to 10.
  • AI tires set to RS only.
  • TCS is allowed IF DESIRED, but NOT mandatory. ACS is PROHIBITED.
  • Gearing is free.

Deep Forest .. one of Dels favourite tracks 👍 ... can't wait to get there :)

Yeah right CHARGER ... Dels eyes are on the edge .. the only beauty he'll notice at the forest will be his all-girl {blondes} pit crew .

Life ain't worth living ~*~ unless you live on the edge .. SENNA did .. RIP

Go for it Sammi. The concrete isn't THAT much faster, and if you feel it necessary to go over it, knock yourself out. I tend to lose control more often than not so i don't really go over them.

Well, the last round for me was one that I thought I put in a good drive. Only thing that went wrong for me was the results were below what I was hoping for.:guilty: Only thing to do now is to put it behind me and move on to the next race.

On the sponsorship front, the #77 Pepsi RX-7 LM will be sporting a special livery for the next couple of rounds promoting the new diet Pepsi MAX soft drink. I don't know if any of you have tried it yet. I have and it tastes pretty good.

From what RACECAR said to me as we chatted on AIM last night, Deep Forest is a 'momentum' track like Le Mans. Only difference here in my view is that it's not as far between turns on the straights. There's also a challenging high-speed section of the track that starts out of Turn 8 with a dogleg left at 9 and a sharper and more challenging dogleg at 10. Get through that corner quickly and neatly and you'll be rocketing down the front stretch towards Turn 1.

I don't use the extra concrete area on the track.I think it looks silly to go 2 metres away from the track, besides that area isn't forbidden.I have some good lap times here but I left some seconds to shave off from the total time.

CAMikaze, what's up with this OTAKON thing?:odd:

CAMikaze, what's up with this OTAKON thing?:odd:
I was wondering when someone was going to ask me about it. heehee:D

Otakon is a annual anime convention that takes place in Baltimore, MD during the summer months. This year, it's on the weekend of July 20th - 22nd. Not only to they show some of the latest anime offerings, they also have cosplay, panels, workshops as well as some videogaming activity to name a few. 💡 Now if they can only get some GT4 LAN competitions going on, I'll be even more happier.👍

I have been going to Otakon every year since 1995 when it was taking place in State College, PA and I've enjoyed it every year. I remember back in the year that GT3 first came out that in the videogaming room there were a couple of PS2's with GT3 iLINKed together and lots of people were playing it agianst each other. Even I had a chance to take part in one of these iLink battles and liked it a lot.:) Also had a chance to do it soloand noticed that on the other screen where no one was playing, they showed the car I was driving around the course in the style of a TV broadcast.

:embarrassed: Apologies to everyone if I was a little 'long-winded' in this post, but an explination was necessary.:sly:👍

This sounds cool...
For me there is the chance to play LAN battles almost every second month because one of the members of the Hungarian GT4 site but it never succeed for me to be there.I am a little busy nowadays, school, family, looking for new job, etc. :indiff:

ICallShotgun, I have a Question for you.

What should the Penalty setting be for this round of Qualifying? I don't think there was any mention of it in the Settings guidelines.

Mate!
I would set it to 'speed limiter', but really, does it matter?

None of us would be stupid enough to believe that a 4 lap quali race with ANY kind of penalty in it stood a cat in hell's chance, would we?
So we wouldn't submit a race with one.
So setting it to speed limiter is the way to go (I would say), then you know about it straight away and can bin the the race and start again.

I was thinking along the lines of 'speed limiter' myself. Though it didn't take me long to put in a penalty free run in GT3 last night.:D

Time sent.
Consistent laps after 2 and a 1/2 weeks without playing GT4.
The difference between the 2nd and 3rd is 0.168 sec, between 3rd and 4th is only 0.003.The opening lap was fast enough too,I hadn't got any problem with overtaking the other cars.I loved it.
Good luck you all.

Hey y'all

I'm gonna drop out of GT4 racing and move on. I've enjoyed racing with all of you, but I have to admit that I'm bored with the limitations of racing this game. I want to race other people and other cars, in real time, not just go as fast as I can for X number of laps and then see how it stands up against everyone else. So, I'm upgrading my PC and getting a copy of GTR with plans to race online after getting a feel for the new game.

Thanks to all of you for helping me become a better sim-driver, and good luck to all!👍

Joe

TImes submitted to Shotgun. Just in case I have to make leave for my sisters house to help out and I get back after the deadline.:sly:👍

You're welcome back with us at anytime. Don't be a stranger now!:)

times sent.. maybe a better chance in gt3 than in pro... 6th gear is useless in them pro cars.... :grumpy: :grumpy:
I'm thinking I have a good shot at a high position in GT3 as well. Usually, I start out with the GT3 car since it's the slowest class and I can get a feel for what the track is like before I attack it in the higher classes.

As to not using top gear in the PRO cars, it probably has to do with the top speed settings that you use. If I remember correctly, I didn't use 6th gear in either GT1 or GT2 back in the New York Reverse round, and I was able to get the class win.:embarrassed:

^^^

Me too! Not enough time for more than about a hour on Monday or Tuesday (can't remember which)

Neil

I am SUPER happy about the turnout this week. And yes, the results will be in a seperate thread. I will have a full points-sheet up as well, including the results from le-mans.
