...

Nope.

Snake's having some net issues and won't be able to upload.

I don't think anyone cares anymore these days.

This has been the longest awaited class yet. D:  It'll come... eventually.

Maybe we should post the results of the battles and worry about the videos later?

Mat, is it possible for me to move my entry for T400 to FR class ? Just asking, I'm also fine with MR. Planning to enter a WRC group A replica, not the hybrid version of course :P

Yeah, it's possible. 👍

Maybe we should post the results of the battles and worry about the videos later?

I don't even know the results.

The results are as follows:

FF vs AWD: FF wins

FR vs MR: MR wins

FF vs MR: MR wins

MR vs Champion: Champion wins

Pretty unexciting results.

The fact that my FF beat an AWD is exciting from my perspective! :D Especially considering it was one of the highest ranked cars in T300.

BREAKING NEWS!!
I got my net back.
I'll have the video up foryoh guys by day's end.
Not the best capture quality, but good enough. Sound is on point (by GT5 standards).

Edit: I think the battles wee pretty exciting, sone were close, others abuse

The wait is nearly over!!
I had fell asleep while the video rendered as I drove around the touge last night. All that's left is to upload.

I have a question to ask Mat, as well as all the tuners looking to participate in this shootout.
What do you all think if the next season of GTP's Hot Version took place on a Mt. Aso tramac course? We already did eiger for a season and Akina for two seasons. Since have already stated that the next season will be on an all-new track, and it's still Toscana, why not change it up completely and tak us to Mt. Aso?

Now, I know many of you aren't fond of the Aso tracks but hear me out. Touge is ran mostly on Toscana tracks, online, but Mt. Aso tracks are the only other tarmac surfaced stages available. We have ran touge on Eifel tracks but the road surfaces makes for a completely different feel.

I think the Aso tracks offer a completely new level of challenge for tuners since those courses requires a different approach to driving on and tuning for them. Basically, my argument is that Toscana is getting a bit dull, why not spice things up?

As expected, I have a dozen or so different tracks that can be used but this isn't about me or my awesome tracks. Though i do have one in particular that was made with this shootout in mind. I call it Gunsai Mirror and it's as close as i could get to the real thing. Highlight feature being the hairpin, left hander and ensuing straight just like in the real Gunsai Touge.

After all, this may be the last season of GTP's Hot Version on GT5 with GT6 on the way...
Anyway, what is everyone's opinion on this?

Against Mt. Aso and rainy conditions. The tracks that pop up out of course maker for Aso are always really weird, stupidly cambered corners etc etc, and rain is so unnecessary, this isn't an endurance race where changing weather conditions play a big part. Chances are if a tune is best in the dry, it'll be best in the wet too, not to mention the huge advantage it then gives 4WD.

I'm against rain for the reason stated above but I'm willing to mount a campaign in support of an Aso track in the shootout.

@trackripper
I empathize with your disgust towards those pesky cambered corners haha. I'll be the first to say that Aso is better than Toscana for touge runs. They're quick and to the point, like the Best Motoring battles.

I had Gunsai Mirror up for share for about two weeks, just switched it up last night to share my current home course for LotS. I'm heading to work as I type this, but when I get home I'll set Gunsai Mirror for share. Try it out before writing it off. I promis that there are no ridiculously cambered sections hahaha.

Another reason I want to push for an Aso course for the shootout is because they're short and compact. A well-made Aso course can have as much variety as a Toscana course in less corners and distance, and being shorter they won't get dull any time soon since battles flow smoothly lap to lap.

Ohh god, a touge thread. I've been doing this by myself for quite sometime now, I've even raced with SolidSnake a couple of times and kept up. I feel as if I'm not ready for such a challenge because my only award winning tune in my book is my The Honda NSX type R. I have no utter clue how to make FWD flow nicely although I am pretty good at differential tuning for them. So I've been racing on the Nurburgring in 500 - 550pp NSX's and I've been doing killer. I'd only be a contender in MR I suppose, and hopefully a rising star in FR and others.

I'm against Aso. There is some awful camber and steep hillclimbs, and the tracks are far too short and unvaried for real touge battles. The tracks are way too short for racing in a section of the course because we'll have 6-8 runs going on. I've tested Aso before, but I've only found neat cruising tracks. We don't need weather, hillclimbs, and ridiculously cambered corners.

Well, i hope to prove y'all wrong lol. I'll host a lobby once in home from work in about 2-3 hours if anyone is on.

Slender and I actually thought of having "Aokigahara" as the next track. Slender has it on share, if I recall correctly.

I reject the call to switch to Aso. Some Aso tracks I raced on during my time in the VCRC had ridiculous hills to climb and some of the bumps on the blind corners are practically unacceptable. Rain would make things 10 times worse.

I doubt that will happen. The competition is fine at Toscana. And if Aso was the best place for touge runs, why doesn't LotS use them?

That's like asking "should I buy a Camry or an Accord?" or "Mac vs. Windows."
They both do the same thing and have the same features. Obviously one sells more than the other but that doesn't necessarily make it better. Of course, this is all a matter of opinion.

Now, it's obvious that the consensus is on the side of Toscana, I won't fight it. But, as a dedicated and ambitious touge course "architect" I want to see if you find those same flaws on my courses. I keep hearing the same complaints about drastic bank angles and elevation changes. I wouldn't have the audacity of using the Gunsai name without doing it justice. But that's just me, I guess om a bit too passionate about the subject haha.

All that being said, once I share the track, will anyone here give it a try? All I ask for is feedback. Good or bad, that's what I feed on.

EDIT: LotS doesn't impose any course restrictions other than they be custom tracks only. I'm probably the one that has done the most battles on Aso tracks in the two years LotS has been running. My longest LotS battle ever was actually 14 rounds of Class A action at Asahi Pass between Slidinsidewayz's BNR32 vs. my Evo IV you're all familiar with, Calico.

I actually got around into Snake's lobby and I gotta say, the proposed track isn't too bad. I like Toscana better in every way, but it's a nice break from it. The battle section is nice and has a very deceptive hairpin, but just after the battle section is the awful, steep, cambered hill.

I got dc'd ... anyway, the track is pretty good aside the dreaded last corner hill climb, my lightened but still heavy Supra barely have traction there, skidding like mad without throttle control  The 1st turn through to the downhill sector before climbing for the last turn should be great for battle :)

The beauty is that the battle sector is completely downhill with a slight decline angle. Smooth and not abrupt. Save for the last corner of the battle sector.
