No, actually the replay can be saved by anyone in the lobby the full length of the race.
So if you're ready and a steward is available (which I believe Aderrrm is) let them know and go for it.👍

That's how I always looked up rooms before I found out how to follow people.
It's easier IMO.👍

But - If you have friends in the room, you can go to their page in the GT Life "Community" screen, and click on the orange icon above "lounge". (not the lounge itself though) and that will show you the room name they are in, along with a list of room members.
