right, i'm raising issues here this week, no more behind the scenes. hopefully people will learn

last week some drivers were not impressed with sportchip. this week he caused a few accidents. he bumped duker off (pending) and also done the same to emo

then on the straight he blocked xflow at least 3 times. MAB and myself both saw this. Now sort is telling me that it was ok because he was not being defensive

He is not happy with the rule book, saying they make the racing boring and not enjoyable. Anyone else have any issues with them? Be honest.

OK I m breaks the rules as everyone in this series, we are trying to push to the limit. but always fair play. if you made a mistake, gives position back

Nah I think I would have struggled to stay ahead anyway, was quite nervous in the end. You and Emo will definitely fight for the title (as well as Storm if he can stay online)
Haha, thanks yuc, glad I'm considered a title contender :)...

Yeah my internet was lagging again tonight judging by the outcry from everyone. I think that my connection speeds are ok, but I have a suspicion that the ping rate AND the weather is a setback for it. Unfortunately, when you live in a chalet and rely on Three's mobile wi-fi hotspot device, ping is going to be an issue. I'll think about upgrading to 4G internet once I get the coverage where I am. Currently, this connection is surprisingly better and faster than at my parent's place.

Guys, I'll say it again, but consideration for other's please. You're more than fine to defend a position, but be mindful of giving space on-track. I do not want to see you all cutting across a driver that is 40% alongside you just to slow him down, make him bin you or simply to force him to go rallying through grass.... I've done such things in the past unintentionally, and I have video evidence of the later outcome. Let's just say being red-misted into the T1 barriers at Monza wasn't fun, so don't make another driver THAT angry with lack of spacial awareness... 👍

See above post regarding spacial awareness....

Comment done.

Hi Storm,

I've had experience with using the Three network and I've had a long battle with them too. Basically, the ping and jitter results are terrible (in my area), they were totally fine for about 18-months and then something changed on their network and it ruined it for online gaming.

Go onto pingtest.net and see what results you're getting. ;)

The Three network is great for browsing the internet on a PC, watching vids and general day to day activity. The download and particularly the upload speed is brilliant, but for gaming I'm afraid that speed isn't important.

Buying a 4G mifi modem may give you a better download speed than youy currently have (even though you don't have 4G in your area), but the ping won't improve.

You can also try a normal Three dongle (rather than the mifi) and plug it into a TP-Link router that accepts a mobile dongle and then hard wire your PS3 to the router with an ethernet cable. This helps slightly, because it removes the unreliabilty of wifi, but again it won't be a cure.

Maybe I was unlucky and the ping problems I have experienced were localised, but I thought that I'd at least mention my issues incase you're suffering the same problems as me.

In a nutshell, having a landline with a really slow download speed is going to be better for gaming than a super fast 3G or 4G connection. :(

Cheers,
Ian.

Thanks for sharing Ian, glad to know that I was right in thinking that the ping rate is making the lag/jittering in-game. Sadly, around Christmas time I don't quite have the money spare to try that out, and given the device that it is, I am not sure if it'll help enough to warrant spending the money.

My ping rate is 83ms, ideally around 30ms is golden, so pretty darn shocking... I have speedtest.net on my Windows Phone and my phone's 3G is also from Three, so I know it'll be the same.

Edit: Redone a test... 64ms ping, 4.03 Mbps download, 3.41Mb upload.

Ignore the ping result that you get from speedtest.net. It isn't reliable, the ping test is very basic and does not take into account any fluctuations.

Pingtest.net is much better for getting a true representation of your ping. It shows you your ping result and also your jitter result. Jitter is basically how much your ping result can fluctate by, so if you get a ping result of 60 and your jitter is 30, the overall ping can be as much as 90 when you take the jitter into consideration.

A really good ping is vital, but if the jitter is high then you'll be having problems gaming.

When I was using Three, my test results were quite random, I would get a good test followed by 3 or 4 bad ones and then another good one. I had a fairly decent argument with Three at the time, which lasted a few months. Both Three and myself tried everything and in that time I spent probably £300 on various things to cure it and it was all to no avail. I've now got a load of gear sat here in boxes that I'll never use again because I cancelled my contract with Three and because it was their service at fault I didn't have to pay to end the contract early which was really good.

Three are a good company, helpful and their signal strength and speeds were amazing. If I wasn't doing online gaming, I'd be using Three for my main broadband provider.

As I said earlier, my problem may have been more localised rather than nationwide. So my issue may have been totally different to yours and I really do hope that it was....

One final tip. Go into some American Nascar lobbies! They usually always use headsets (mics) and if you start lagging during a race they'll be quick to tell you. I would try the Nascar lobbies just to check my connection.....:D

Hah! Nice, I'll try that next time.

Sad to hear you were plagued by those problems, this internet is only a temporary fix til I'm in a place with a landline. I'll fork out on decent internet then. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I tried both pingtest and speedtest, and these are what I got:

"....Microphones or unnecessary in-game chat is not allowed and may be penalized..."
this is from yours OP,room settings.
of course now you will say,it was necessary!!!
it was necessary to write chat messages all the time on last race,Nurburgring preq1 preq2, chatting ALL THE TIME over the race..chatting about funny things about this and that, nothing matters about race itself?!?
that was necessary also??
that message "bye bye bcd" makes me out of my head, man ! mad and furry!
if i make some childish moves on the track,i would be honest and say "yes i was wrong" and i will stay in pit and watch other racing, but i didnt find wrong in any situation!
of course you have your point of view (also you have stewards/your friends who were aaaaaalll the time behind me and watch my every move to complain after (or in the middle of )the race...

squeezing you?? i didnt do any undereasonable move there..i was on the racing line.you could lift the foot from throttle and wait to overtake me after turn one..but,lets admit it you were a bit unpatient there.did you expected me to slow down and let you infront?? i was on the racing line.

divebomb on Ingo?? guys watch the replay!! there was no any contact!! maybe i had a late breaking but i made manouvar and nobody was not hit!except that wo situations, i had all clean racing with two-wheels-on-the-track-all-the-time..which i cannot swear on many others!
Its a shame mate, i found it was very good racing night...preQ was great race,Race 1 also,Race 2..very good racing moments, but hey! everytime somebody made a mistake in the race and withdraw from it,it was always bcd fault....yes, i can accuse bcd,why not?!?
come on!
even it was some of my mistakes, you could say it to me after on PM, instead that its easiest to wrote bye bye to someone so others can see that you are victime and thats why you didnt win the race!!
i am too proud to feel disconsolately on unjustice.understand me.

after all i know i will not be wellcome in the club anymore, but i needed to wrote this.
i am member of many other clubs and i have never felt this kind of unjustice.
i am racing fan, very in love with racing in real life too..

speaking about real life...some @BRRT_Angel and @NinjaEvo ..in real life, where i come from, we never fight with some rubber mallets or baseball sticks.those who use it,we call them cowards....we use only fists,so if you want to punch some ,you are very wellcome!

I think we all need to calm down a bit here. Sorry bcd I wasn't near you yesterday so can't comment about your incidents. Will have a look on the replays tonight.

First of all, the thread's not for posting opinions of racing incidents, do it via PM please. We don't want others looking at this thread to think all we do is complain.

Secondly, we are all here to learn, and mistakes will be inevitable. If there's no mistakes then it won't be exciting anymore. As long as people accept and learn from them it's ok.

Thirdly, I'd say it's ok to have some light contact every now and then, since this is touring cars (just look at BTCC and WTCC). It's just that if you do it too much you will get a reputation, and expect some to return the favour. If you want to move up to GT/F1 racing then this won't be acceptable anymore.

Last but not least, it IS a game, so chill out guys, it's not life or death.

Right off to work...

I was stuck behind you in Pre-Q Race, it was very frustrating and I have to say, you may have been a little defensive. Turn 1 (can't remember which laps), a couple of times I was alongside you, not behind you, you'd cut me off and I'd cut the corner so I'd have to back off a little.

@Duker_86 your Ford is a MENACE on the straights!

How about you go back and look at the Race 2 replay and watch your stupid moves that I saw unfold from behind you. I'll tell you something for free right now pal, those moves you made and now this conduct you're displaying is the reason why you've been kicked from this series. You're gone, it's over, deal with it.

Well...

Just kidding hehe

Yeah, just woke up, saw that 'post' from bcd and my head went straight to 11.

It's a simple fact though, I'm not being addressed like that, I'm not here to take any of that from anyone and I'll be damned if I'm going to take it from someone who's in the wrong. Uses the chat window distraction as an excuse, shame both of his moves happened at least 2 laps before that point.

Meh, going in circles now...

also to add on, he said that True should have backed out when bcd was sticking to the racing line. Ehem... True was along side him and he did not give racing room, forcing True over the kerb and losing time, that is it's own incident and explanation.

Just gonna wade in here. Rules are rules. People aren't happy with the rules? Leave and race somewhere else. Weaving on the straight rules/defensive move rules are pretty clear cut.

Don't go changing rules to please dirty drivers, it's up to them to work to series rules. Make sure you lead.

Too right m8. Don't worry, we won't be... 👍

Pass the popcorn please. :sly:

I'm just going to add my thoughts here, I don't mean to butt in or anything and I don't want to upset True-Blue but here goes anyway.

Discussing racing incidents in the main thread like this is never a good idea. It reflects badly on the series as a whole because people that may be willing to join will be reading the argument and wondering whether or not the series is full of bad driving... Which is simply not the case.

I've also found that during my time as a steward and a driver, it's not possible to win every battle, racing incidents are sometimes hard to judge and the final decision may be contraversial. I've been on the receiving end of a warning which I did not agree with and it took me a very long time to argue my point and eventually I won by using hard evidence in the replay.

In the real world a driver would be called up to see the race stewards for a meeting, the stewards would then form an opinion and the driver would be told the outcome. The stewards don't go down to the pit lane and start a scene infront of the other drivers and anyone else that happens to be watching at the time.

I agree that drivers should get told why they have received a warning, its the best way to learn, but do it privately.
