Believe it or not, it just popped to my mind when I found out what year Paradise City was from

That's the thinking, but..

That's the first '88 car guessed so this is correct. Any '88 would've been accepted though. For those who don't understand it:

The Burnout game in question was Burnout Paradise

The theme is Paradise City by Guns N' Roses

"Guns" might make you think of GTA

Both Coldplay and Eddie Money have also made a song about Paradise (admitted, this was more to confuse you )

The DeLorean from Back to the future does it's magic at 88 mph.

Remember I said the DeLorean was part of the riddle? Paradise City was written in 1988 ('88) and is thus the "connection you didn't expect".
