Obviousness wins the day! It is indeed an upside down bathtub Porsche 356.
 
I went for the Rochdale first as when I saw one in a museum I was like "oooh a 356...no wait". Nice little cars all the same though :)

It's the Century, specifically a still of Theo Kojak's car :)

Was kinda educational actually as I'm pretty sure the Corgi die-cast model was a Regal, as they used the same model for a police car I had from the original Superman movie, and that was definitely a Regal. Google "Kojak Car" and you will see what I mean. It was gold too, not sure it ever was in the show.

It's a Toyota.
It sold in Asia as well as Europe.

It is indeed a Toyota Ipsum (Picnic) in the incredibly questionable "US Custom" trim.
