Gumpert is not dead cause there is an Explosion!

Wait a minute... am I the only one who noticed the 0-60 in "under 3 seconds"? With 420hp, that thing is going to need some very short gear ratios to get into the 2.x's. 60mph would have to be its top speed

What does a GT-R do? Isn't it somehwere around there in 0-60? Getting the same power/weight as the GT-R with 420 hp means ~3000 lb weight. If it's lighter than that (and the Apollo was lighter than average) it only gets easier.

Explosion has to be the stupidest name I've ever heard for a car. Plus, 105k for a car that looks like a tarted-up Mitsubishi Eclipse is bonkers.

A car named explosion was bound to happen at some point during the automotive lifespan.

The interior is not that bad, it looks like an Audi

More uneven trim. Off-the-shelf parts. And that panel under the shifter is worryingly loose.

The dash is flat. The center tunnel is flat. The door panels are flat. The seats look flat. If this were a $30-40k kit car, it might... just might be excusable... but this is going to cost $150k?

As mentioned, the rear end ruins it, needs to be more Evo X ish. Performance seems promising and the name, like the Apollo is very Masculine which unlike most cars seems......right.

So, let me get this straight: Gumpert is trying to come back from the dead with an average-at-best looking/performing, 150k car, afer they couldn't hold themselves afloat with one of the most insane sports cars the world has ever seen?

Last I checked, average cars are for big-time companys that can survive trough selling average cars because they can make a bunch of them, along with a bunch of other average cars, to sell them en masse for average prices. A small company can't survive selling average cars for supercar prices. And even less so when they failed at being viable with an absolutely wild super car, normally what small niche companys do.

Plus it's ugly as sin, and the name is laughable.

If they're comparing it to rally cars, i'd rather have the mother of all subaru imprezas which would probably eclipse the performance of the explosion, and leave me with enough change for a second one if the worst was to happen lol.
Maybe that's why they say they want an average person to see what it feels like behind the wheel of a rally car, because anyone who knows a bit about cars would rather modify something to be a rally car instead

I don't even know what model that is. Definitely appears to be on the lower end of the price range in model and options. Even with that, the buttons/equipment looks much older on the Explosion.

Wow... talk about poor interior design...

:/

Overall, this has to be one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen in recent years... Compared to the Apollo, this car is ugly as f:censored:...

Christ that's ugly.

If you buy one you'll be the only person with one though. I doubt a lot of people will buy this over a base 991 Turbo or whatever else costs $150K.

Or maybe an R35 GT-R with a 1,000 hp turbo kit? :D That much money will get you a NISMO and 25k worth of turbo-kit, engine management and upgraded transmission parts for the GT-R.

There's the thing... it's a bare-bones all-wheel drive sports car meant for tarmac rallying. Something which the GT-R does very well for a lot less money... albeit likely with a lot more weight.

I... like it. Except the interior. If it was like, $50k instead of $150k, it would definitely be a lot better.
Although if one ever catches fire, you know what's gonna happen with that name.

Meh, not really feeling this car. Has too much Audi going about it and its from a company that's not exactly on the best terms to try and produce a car for the masses.

I agree that the Explosion isn't a great name. But its better than Huayra and Huracan. Who names a car after sounds a cat makes coughing up a hair ball.

Totally disagree, Explosion just sounds desperately gimmicky and just doesn't fit on a car like this.

Besides, you just hatin because you can't pronounce Mayan and Andean Supercar names :sly:

With an aftermarket OMP racing wheel of course, I wonder I you can get Takata seat belts as an option just to complete the aftermarket tuner/racing feel.

I think its okay outside, but not portioned all that great when you get to the back. Almost feels like someone made it a photoshop rendering of a car they designed and it came to life...kinda freaking me out..

I was somewhat hyped when I saw the car, I don't love it but I definitely don't dislike it.

But the price had to be right, somewhere in the 30k range for something that looks wacky like this.

For 150 grand I can think of at least 150 cars I'd rather have before this thing, bad call.

I see what they were trying to do with the name, but it's still really bad.

Just wait until one of these actually explodes.

And I thought the Apollo was hideous. Nobody can seem to design cars well these days...

They never learn, as stated above, the Apollo had a horrible, dull, dark, rough interior with a worse looking exterior but bags of power and a stupid price tag which never sold because everyone else did better. They just put the same formula in to a hatchback, there accountant must be laughing.
