He should have pulled over and waited after his lungebomb special taking out the guy in second and also third.
Other guy did not have enough overlap. At end of vid he shows the overlap. Both were not examples of good racing imo.
I am all for good moves but neither of these were good moves. Neither would have been done if the driver were in a real car.
Passing in a braking zone is fine, just do it right and present yourself properly.

Cheers

Suzuka, chicane, the author of the video clearly states something to the effect of... brake at my usual spot... with 2 cars battling for position, on the last chicane of the race, leading onto the finish straight.
My opinion, a clear example of a poor decision.
2 second penalty if I recall?
Since when is it safe/smart to brake at your usual benchmark when following another car, much less 2 that are battling for a spot.
I think the author shoots himself in the foot... and what follows is no surprise.

Bathurst, my understanding is that acceptable over lap is along side the door... not almost to the door, not front wheel even with rear...
What he did was poke his nose in and let the cards fall where they may.
My opinion, poor decision... he goes on to justify it by saying he's trying to get into the FIA or whatever... mmm... ok.
A driver making a mistake is an opportunity to pounce, not a right... and poking your nose in is asking for the inevitable.
5 second penalty says a lot.

I watch this you-tuber somewhat frequently, and often come away thinking the videos are great graphical quality, with lots of good information... entertaining... probably even liked some of them... but, I also see some odd decisions, which are usually followed by explanation/justification.

Maybe the new penalty system will force giving back that position and curb these types of decisions.

I think it will, especially over the mountain at Bathurst, as the penalty zones will likely only be the long straights and you'll lose of ton of time and places getting slowed down there. Also if someone who's a dirty overtaker now loses places they are likely to be even more dirty trying to get those places back, well until they lose their SR and still get nowhere.

The only problem with this is if lots of players start trying to get other players penalties rather than actually race, which is a possibility unfortunately.

OK, so, I've been out of the scene for quite some time.
I just went and watched a bunch of @EERIEISSSS more recent videos... and would like to correct my previous comment...
He has come a long ways in the last few months.
I guess having all his videos available to us allows folks dig up interesting moments...
But from what I've seen in many of his more recent videos, he's extremely patient and clean.
We've all done things in races we wish we hadn't... be it via mistake, poor judgement, or, plain enthusiasm...

Getting off my high horse.

Another youtuber I watch frequently, another disgusting move. But it's fine you know, I was faster anyway.

Remember kids, when you make a mistake and are leading, the guy behind always has the right to completely push you out of the way.

Like him and love his videos but agree on this move.

I can imagine how he would see it if the roles were reversed - based on his previous videos.

Tidgney is the man

On Saturday's stream the Red Bull Gr B @Tidgney made a comment on the last lap. Something along the lines of 'I'm not going to spoil a race like this by taking on a risky move even in the last lap.

You would think someone as fast as he is would need to have a win at all costs or at least aggressively competitive attitude.

I actually genuinely believe he's only interested in winning fair and that playing the game the right way is more important to him than the end result.

Luqman Ali's GT sport does a good stream of his races. He does league racing and FIA races. He runs the BTCC league. Also a funny guy.

All the popular players should have the same attitude as him. He's a great guy and I always try to catch his streams

Tidgney is the man

He's bringing some driving/racing lesson videos for the community which I think should be stickied. Not knocking any of the other guys at all, but Tidge does kinda sum up how people should behave on track imo.

Maybe he can be to polite (not my opinion), but I'd rather win fair than with dubious moves. The stream a few nights ago was just amazing, door to door combat which looked amazing to watch. No divebombs, no running people out of room. Respect on both sides.

I've made poor decisions in the heat of battle, but if I feel I've over stepped the mark, I'll relinquish my position.

And I'll say it for the 100th time, high ranking drivers should have racecraft. The game should not let you hold high rank if you cannot understand racing basics while driving with others on track. DR:A sometimes look like kids playing demo derby. This should never, ever be the case.

O wow cheers for the support guys :)! I've always said... well actually my motto is: Race Clean, Race Smart, Race Fair (Although where those 3 are placed changes all the time haha :D) so as longs I do that I'm happy. That Gr.B race was epic to be honest, I was so happy to have such a good fight in a race which can be very sketchy at the best of times! I know on that last lap I could have kept my nose in more where I said that line but I honestly just felt like I shouldn't at that point.

I must admit doing aggressive moves is one of my weaknesses with my racing, as you said @Mr616 and I also said it at a live event recently, and also on stream :D but I potentially lose races because of it that's for sure. Although (This is a dig at my self and no-ones comments, hard to portray in the post :D) I have fun irrespective and I'm not out to win it all, I have fun and enjoy the experiences. I say the same at live events as well, I'm there to enjoy it. If I do well, I do well if I don't I move on, a better person wins and the experience is more than likely going to be epic irrespective. I will be trying to improve on my aggression a little but the motto and philosophy will always stay :)!

I'm really looking forward to making the GT Sport Driving school to, hopefully everyone enjoys it that watches it :D!

edit: Just to note that sometimes it can be difficult to stream and race at the same time, so mistakes do happen and everyone makes them to :).

This might be an unpopular question but is there a decent streamer who races with cockpit cam? I don't like bumper or hood cam streams. I don't even watch streams with dash cam like Jimmy Broadbent in iracing ILMS.

Its not dash cam, its cockpit cam with a low field of view (also the correct field of view, iRacing gets this right, Gran Turismo gets it wrong)
That's not really answering my question but it's interesting nonetheless. Will have a closer look at it again.
Does Jimmy disable the virtual steering wheel or is his view so narrow that it can't be seen? I think I'd enjoy the stream more if I could better see his steering inputs.

With Jimmy you can see his actual physical steering inputs, that is more accurate than an in game wheel anyway.

Well I was kind of answering in a "Nobody streams cockpit view in Gran Turismo because its not generally considered helpful nor realistic because the game gets it wrong" kind of way

There is absolutely 0 streamers I know of that use it, and I know a lot of streamers.

Dibblr doesn’t stream as often as he used to but he’s an A+ driver in Americas region who uses cockpit view. Only one I know of.

I usually watch streams from tidgney or supergt. Tidgney is a quality driver, supergt is fun to watch.

BTW. Where can I find when the official FIA GT Sports championships take place? I've missed all the live events, and I would like to see the finals live... Just don't know when they are held

I know that is true for many cars but fortunately not for all of them. The AMG GT3 cockpit cam for example looks pretty much as it does in any other game. But there are cars that are downright undrivable that way.

16th to 18th November on the Gran Turismo TV Youtube channel for the World Finals, it will be broadcast live and viewable after the event, all the past live events are still up too.

Field of view is the most important thing to get right if you want to drive in cockpit view. How it is set is determined by screen size and one's distance from the screen. GTS doesn't have the option to change it. How it looks compared to other games doesn't matter unless your setup is correct for for the FOV that GTS uses.

very few cars in the game are acceptable in cockpit view restricts choice massively. Some don’t even have a cockpit view.

Well, I am :D The only notifications I ever get are when somebody starts a stream

YT notifications are screwed. I never rely on them anymore. I just check in with my fave channels and sometimes they will have a "live" icon next to them.

and the reason for the switch was because he realised it was a handicap

Absolutely - pretty sure he was still quicker than 90% of drivers out there but yeah he’s much quicker now. My post was to the guy who was looking for cockpit vids, would give him a place to look for them.
