H gate and sequential with TH8A and PS4

Okay, new to forum so hello!

Having picked up AC for the PS4 today the first thing I did was jump in the Lotus 98T.
I soon figured out that the TH8A shifter needs to be plugged directly to the PS4 and not the base of my T150 wheel in order for it to work. This is covered in other threads and confirmed by ISR. Not ideal but at least it works.

As the 98T has an H gate I obviously installed the H gate on my TH8A shifter, only to discover that it didn't work. I could select 1st gear but that was it. Swapping out to the sequential gate that worked fine. Same thing with the Ferrari 312T, H gate doesn't work but sequential does.

Thing is, I don't want to use a sequential gate in cars that have an H gate IRL, and vice versa.
I'm sure I can't be the only one.

Coming from PCars where H gate, sequential and paddles all work as they should, I kind of assumed, rightly or wrongly the same would apply to AC. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I missing something in the settings?
I definitely have H gate enabled, and I have auto clutch on.

I can't find any other settings which have made a difference, but i'm sure I've seen videos of guys using the H gate on the PS4 version of AC...so what am I doing wrong?
 
I'm sure I tried that already, but as I have the standard two pedal set up that comes with the T150 wheel I assumed auto clutch would need to be on.

But I shall try that again tomorrow (it's 2.45 am here and I can't be bothered to set up the wheel again tonight!)
 
Hey mate, I had the same problem and was pretty unhappy. I decided to give it a try with the shifter plugged in via the usb rather than the wheel and it solved the problem :) Once I figured it out the shifter works great with assetto corsa 👍
 
Hi! Already wrote about my problems in another thread. I have a t500 wheel and th8a. I've done everything correctly(presumably). Still my th8a won't work. H-pattern on, auto clutch off and the th8a is plugged in to the ps4.

I can get the sequential gate to work by plugging directly into the PS4 but the H gate still won't work.

It seems to think every gear is 1st and when I shift I get a grating sound and the engine damage icon appears as if I'm damaging the engine by downshifting too severely.

To be honest it kind of ruined my gaming evening, I'd been stoked for AC for months, then when I finally get it even before I get on the circuit I encountered a serious issue.

I really hope this is patched ASAP.

It sounds like your use case (auto clutch but H pattern) is something the devs didn't think about. Have you raised a bug on this topic on the official forums?

My TH8A works fine. You do realise you must use the clutch pedal to change gear or it will get missed shifts or stuck in gear.

BTW my pedals are Fanatec Club Sport.

Hmm, unfortunately I'm now on holiday (apologies to the family) so can't check anything for a week.

But I kind of assumed the auto clutch setting was for people like me who have a 2 pedal set up that came with the T150.

People are now saying you need to plug the shifter into the USB port nearest the disc drive for it to work properly, but I've already been doing that.

So it appears the auto clutch setting doesn't work and/or there's a problem recognising the H gate.
Hope it's patched soon.

Last night before I started the game, I switched the USB's(t500/th8a) around on the console and BAM, it works.

The th8a is in the left USB(3.0?) port and the T500RS is in the right USB(2.0?) port. Also the only other thing I did differently was choosing the 2nd option of the wheel button mapping. Hope this woodoo works for others with similar issues.

Hmm interesting, I was using the same USB ports as that, but I had the first button mapping option.

I'll be trying everything possible, including different button mapping, once I get back off holiday.

Once the game is released in the US a lot of other people will be having the same issues I imagine.
 
I've got my T150 plugged into the left USB port on the PS4 and the shifter plugged into the right USB on the PS4. Have also gone for button mapping option 2 and everything is working as it should for me.

 
I have my TH8A shifter plugged directly into the T300 with auto clutch and the shifter setup as sequential worked day 1. Clutch works even with auto clutch on.
I am using a 3 pedal setup from the Logitec G28 via a converter, this has worked no problems at all in pcars if i wanted to use the clutch and H pattern.
Have not tried to use it as H pattern with clutch on assetto corsa yet so can not make a call on that, but at this point I have the wheel plugged into the left USB slot my headphones wireless dongle in the right USB.

I have the PS4 thrustmaster T300RS wheel & Th8a shifter & 3 pedal clutch system & reading these comments you are saying you plug the gear knob shifter in to a USB slot on the PS4, I've looked at my shifter & the cable that comes out the shifter has a 6 pin round connector on it, not a USB end on it. Hard to believe this set up isn't supported Plug n play considering Project CARS supports it

The TH8A comes with two cables in the box: DIN plug (for attaching to T300) and USB plug.
 
Sequential shifter works. But h pattern doesn't. I have h patter set to on, I tried both auto clutch on and off, I tried plugging into t300 base and PS4 directly, still nothing.

I think it also depends on the car you are driving, no? Make sure the car is supposed to have h pattern like pick the old cobra or the Merc 190e

Guys...easy workaround for me on the TH8A for now is to make sure the wheel and the th8a are identified by your ps4 system (press PS button on the wheel) BEFORE opening Assetto Corsa, then it will work every time 100%

(Im using T300GtE+TH8A+T3PA-Pro....cheers!)

There is no need to connect to a PC to change the shifter mode - the shifter plates press a button on the shifter surface.
I am not sure if you unhook the TH8A and change it from H-pattern to Sequential then hook it back up (USB) if AC will see that or if the game needs to be restarted- I have just been lazy and always used the flappy paddles for all sequential cars. Maybe I will give it a try when I get a chance.

You don't need to restart between h pattern and paddles, AC will only let you use h pattern with cars that have a h pattern and paddles with cars with either sequential or paddles.
