Halo 3: ODST (not worth $60.00 if you already have Halo 3. my opinion)

I will be honest I really have no idea what any of this means but I guess they changed the title. This is one of the only things Bungie has changed that I dont like. I thought Halo 3: Recon sounded better.

ODST facts.
To clear up the confusion for everyone..
1. The ODST campaign is different from Halo 3. ODST is more of a sandbox game. Halo 3 is linear per level.
2. The ODST Firefight is different from Halo 3.
3. Both online multiplayers are EXACTLY the same. ODST comes with a 2nd disk that allows ODST players to play with Halo 3 players for the online multiplayer.
4. The Reach beta wont be active until 2010.

Its stands for Orbital Drop Shock Troopers and I agree Reacon sounded way better but I assume Bungie didnt want to use it because of GRAW. Im sure people will still be calling it Recon because its just easier.

Hahaha.

Let's change it from something that people will remember and is easier to say, to a four letter acronym. Nice.

Can we pleease get some cover mechanics in this game?

Wiki
In post-trailer interviews, Bungie staff members told gaming press that ODST was the last installment in the Halo trilogy.[17] Though Bungie does not consider the ODST a full game[18] (staff member Luke Smith compared it to The Frozen Throne, an expansion to Warcraft III), the game will ship with Halo 3 map packs,[7] and ODST will not require Halo 3 to play.[19] Smith made sure to point out the game would not be a crossover into the stealth and squad-based genres, noting "This isn't Brothers in Arms: Halo or Splinter Cell: Halo."[12] On November 25, Jarrard announced the game had been retitled to Halo 3: ODST as a "more straightforward" description of the game.[3]
At least it will let the fanboys know what happened in the end of 2 and the beginning of 3.
Wiki
ODST takes place in the Halo universe in the year 2552, during the events of Halo 2. While the characters of Halo 2 are on the Forerunner ringworld known as Delta Halo, ODST follows what happens at the city of New Mombasa on Earth, in the midst of an invasion by the hostile Covenant.[7]
I gave up on the Halo series but at least they moved away from the all mighty Master Chief.

There is a lot they can do with the franchise overall, and I'd say this is a smart move. A Rainbow Six-like tactical shooter is something that I've wanted to see for a while, as I've always liked the ODST troopers, and always wanted to play as one. Nevertheless, I haven't played Halo 3 in what feels like six to eight months, and I'm unsure if this will still have legs with the parts of the community that has otherwise traveled out to other franchises like Gears, Call of Duty and the like...

We still have Halo Wars incoming, which I am looking forward to though the main halo series, which I am tired of.

So is this multilayer only expansion or single player as well?
Any clue when BUNGIE will create a new game? I hear they going multiplatform

by the way I agree, RECON is easier and cooler to say.. Orbital Drop Shock Troopers? oh wow.. at ODST O D S T? at least they should pick another cool name like HALO3:TS Tactical Squad.. see took me 2 seconds to come up with that.. and sounds way better then ODST sound like another name for STDs..

This technically is a new game. It takes place after Halo 2's events.

Here are the 3 new maps that will come with Halo: ODST. One of them is the Midship remake from Halo 2 which was a really fun map. :)

I hope that the maps are better than the last bunch that were released.

Assembly is such a horrible map in my opinion.
I'm not a huge fan of Sandbox, mostly because I don't use the forge all that often.
(I will admit that I have played on quite a few maps created there though)
Orbital is probably the only one that I enjoy the most playing on.

Citadel looks strikingly like the level "The Covenant"
Wonder if it is a single room or multiple rooms?

Isn't there a fly through video out there?

There are actually about 8 different in game varients of sandbox. Some in the sky, some on the main level, and some underground. All in the playlist.

I have a great time on Assembly but I dont care much for Orbital. If you dont like Assembly you will not like the new map called Heritic. They are a LOT alike. Yes Citadel looks a lot like The Covenant or The Ark.

I was thinking about getting a group together for the Vidmaster Challenge Annual achievement this weekend. Are you interrested? We need 4 people total.

I might have some time Saturday evening to give it a shot.
I'll check the wifes schedule to make sure I haven't forgot anything.

I have only made it up to and part way through "The Covenant" on Heroic, so I'll give you all I can.

Iron skull, thats the one that bumps you back to a checkpoint when someone dies right?

Yup thats what makes this one so hard. I have never even tried for this achievement yet because I have not been able to get 4 people together to try it. Even if we dont get it its not a big deal. But I would at least like to try.

I managed to get the other 2, no reason to stop now . . . right?
So do you want to fight to the top, or walk the plank to get there?

I'll check the schedule tonight to see if Sat is clear and l'l get back to you.

I'm going out to reserve mine tonight.

Gamestop has a trade in special where you get 25% more on your trade in when you apply the full credit to ODST. (So now I'll get a whole 3 dollars for my game.)

I'm going to sacrifice Res-5. Was totally disappointed with it and haven't touched it since I tried to play it just after receiving it.

I'm going to reserve the package that comes with the wireless controller and the Sgt. Johnson code. I have been thinking of getting another controller (I only have one). So why not get a fancy ODST controller and the game for a little less than it costs to get them seperately.

**Reserved my copy yesterday. . . and now I wait.

I am just going to rent it since I already have all the maps from Halo 3.
I will buy it next year for $30.00 when the Halo Reach beta becomes available. I just cant justify paying $60.00 for ODST.

I'm kinda excited about the new style of gameplay.

From every video I have seen (downloaded from live) it looks like its going to be a wide open game.

And Firefight mode looks sweet to.

Yes the new campaign and the firefight will be fun. But I cant see spending $60.00 for just those 2 things.
When I rent it we should play together in the campaign and Firefight.
Not sure if you know but the multiplayer online is the EXACT same multiplayer as Halo 3.

Not really. From what I have seen, it appears to be more of a wide open game, and not just level after level.

You are no longer MC or even a Spartan, but a standard human Marine.

Camaro - what about the new maps?

So technically yes its just and add on and I feel its only worth about $30.00.

For the new maps I will just have to wait until the game drops to about $30.00 or I can just buy the maps for now. There are already a ton of maps in Halo 3 so not having 3 wont bother me at all. Plus like I said I will be renting ODST so I will get to check out the new maps for at least a week or so.
